I don’t think you’ll have much luck with that on NCL
Crap, thanks for reminding me. It was Carnival previously that I've done it on. I guess I will suffer through one Diet Coke a day then.
-
I went in to buy a pop package for my cruise in January and saw that they are changing to Coke. I will just bring some Diet Pepsi on with me. I just need one a day to survive and will drink water the rest of the time.

Does anyone know how we actually take NCL's ferry? Do we buy tickets on board? Is it free? we are going in January and were hoping to hear how it works. Thanks!

Cruising from Galveston for the first time in September. Trying to book transportation back to the airport, but it asks what time I'd like pickup. If I bring my own luggage off the boat, what time can I expect to be able to debark?

I was reading this post and it started back in 2012...this may have been before the time of solo cabins! With that being said it must be somewhat impossible to hide your solo since the solo cabins on NCL have a separate lounge for us! Guess the advice would be to NOT give out your room number!
Also, with all the issues in Mexico with drinks being spiked by bartenders I wonder if this ever happens on the cruise ships?
I’m the one who originally Started the thread. I went on the cruise by myself and met a nice couple from Texas who I still keep in touch with and we are actually planning another cruise for September.
The only thing that happened on the first solo cruise I took in 2013 was a woman and her husband, who were obviously looking for a threesome, tried to pick me up at the first port, while I was hanging out by the pool. She said they had noticed I was traveling alone and did I want to join them for some fun. We weren’t even 24 hours into the cruise! I just said no thank you and that I already had plans and made my way back to the ship. No idea how they figured out I was alone as like I said; we weren’t even into our second night on the ship. They also weren’t in my hallway.

If the difference was a reasonable deal and a low amount I would be willing to think about it. But it was practically all my OBC that I got getting myself to the lido balcony. Besides my DD likes the idea of having the pool and the food almost right outside her door.
I joked with her - maybe you can swim in the tub in the OS hahah!! (NOT). :)
A couple of years ago we had a room on the lido deck on an NCL ship and my husband was in heaven! I can't even tell you the number of times he visited the ice cream machine every day. The only downfall was late at night, if it was windy, you'd practically get blown away walking by the pool area.

Thanks! This is great information.

Most likely just an inside, possibly one with the virtual balcony. How about the ice skating rink, is that something I want to avoid?
-
This will be my first time sailing Royal Caribbean and was wondering if there any areas I want to stay away from on Navigator of the Seas. I'm just booking an inside room as I'll be by myself.
I've sailed NCL & Carnival 4 times each, so I'm familiar with cruising, just not familiar with RCI's boats. Any help would be appreciated.

Which do you prefer?
It looks like i'm going to be doing my second Solo cruise next January and I have the option of sailing out of Galveston on RCL or Houston on NCL. I've done NCL numerous times including once by myself so i'm pretty familiar with them. I've never done RCL before and am looking for some opinions.
I do like the Anytime dining, etc. that NCL offers.

Has anyone used Belize Exotic Adventures before? Leaving in 2 weeks-last minute trip and we want to snorkel with our kids (9, 11, & 12). We usually use private companies, but since they don't dock, it may be worth our while to use the excursion offered by NCL? Any thoughts, experiences, recommendations? Thanks!
We are using them next week for a tour of the ruins and the city. Look at their reviews on Tripadvisor dot com. they have terrific reviews.

We have three dogs and my mother comes to stay at our house when we are gone on vacation. I don't know what we will do when she gets to old to take care of them. Sometimes I think they like Grandma better than us.
Of course she hosts "potato chip" parties for the dogs and we do not, that could have something to do with it!

Roses! We had the decorations for our honeymoon cruise and after about 2 days, they were driving us crazy.

I would think you'd be ok on the 6th. We are actually doing the same cruise in the 30th of March and I don't expect there to be a lot of kids then. The two ekes prior to ours were priced higher when we booked so I think those are more spring break time.
-
I hope you enjoy the Carnival Sunshine. We had considered it for our cruise out of New Orleans at the end of March, but I just couldn't get past all the bad reviews. We ended up booking NCL again and I was glad I did. We cruised in January and ended up having some people on an excursion in Cozumel with us that were on the sunshine. They were not very happy. They said it was extremely crowded and that the publics areas were not large enough for all the people on the ship. They specifically said that the lounge area that the comedian was in was ridiculously small. I will be VERY interested to read your review on it. Happy Cruising!

Yes, pretty much anytime I cruise with my husband. He's good for about 4 days of cruising and then wants off. Three weeks ago he got a cold on the Friday of a Sunday to Sunday cruise so it was pretty miserable the last two days. I don't have anymore cruises planned with him for awhile. I personally could live on a cruise ship!

We did the bar hop a few weeks ago.. It was ok. Not the best excursion i've been on, not the worst. We aren't big drinkers and it did get old that they expected you to eat and drink at every bar. If it were me and you wanted to see the east side of the island, I would just pick one of the bars to go to over there and hang out for a couple of hours..

On the cruise we took a few weeks ago, we didn't even realize it was the formal or not night, that's how few people were dressed up. We kept waiting for it to happen later in the week and it didn't, so we missed it.
On my cruise at the end of the month, I'm not even taking dress up clothes. Part of what we like about NCL is not having to dress up.

I've loved all your reviews. I think you should choose the Transatlantic. Have you checked airports around Miami in hopes of find something less expensive?
-
I've travelled on the Sun and the Star, but the Sun was my favorite. It's just a very special ship! Glad you enjoyed it.

The bread pudding with caramel sauce! 26 more days!

Can anyone recommend a company that does private tours of the city and ruins for groups, similar to what Victor Bodden tours in Roatan does? Thanks!
Yes, log into your NCL account, then click "explore and plan" then "gifts and more".
Also, the unlimited dining package is now there too!
Grr.. can't find it on mine. Just have to wait till the ship leaves port to buy it. Unfortunately were on the Dawn so that could be pretty late into the evening. -
Yes. You will always pay sales tax in a US port - if they have one. You can save on the tax by pre-purchasing online as well.
Can you tell me where I can pre-buy the pop card online? I can't seem to find that option.
Coke in Pepsi out!!!

On NCL you can't. Farther down in the post I mentioned that I forgot it wasn't allowed on NCL. For water, just bring a reusable water bottle and fill it when you need water. If you don't like the taste, just bring one of the water flavor things with you to put a couple of drops in each time you fill a bottle.
