  1. Thank you for all your replies.

We will be on the Emerald in October and I will pass the info regarding the sushi to my husband. I will just order a virgin cocktail so he can get his plate of complimentary sushi and enjoy.

  2. My husband loves sushi and in the past on Celebrity he's enjoyed some at 5pm. I've read that you can sometimes get this in the Vines wine bar.

    My questions are;

Do you have to buy a glass of wine?

Can I order a non alcoholic drink or a coffee?

Is there a charge for the sushi?

    Thank you.

  3. We spoke to a couple who after three days of waiting nearly an hour for ATD,removed their auto tip. They had 4 questions on a slip of paper to tick their reason,2 were about their dining experience.so it isn't just stewards, culture, forgetfulness and limited funds. It goes further than that.

Could you please let me know what is ATD?

  4. Sabatinis turned out to be best. Not much to compare but the light and airiness of sabatinis outweighed the dark, dingey room of crown grill.

Plus we felt the staff were much more professional.

    Thanks for reporting back.

Hope you enjoyed your time on Emerald and please let us know any little insider tips you picked up. We are sailing in October, still seems a long way off but I know it will here in a flash.

  5. I expect you've already boarded and have eaten lunch. Was the restaurant open or did you have to go to the buffet?.

Have a wonderful holiday and hope the sun shines for you, it's a little glum at the moment.

We live over the other side of the water from Southampton so might see you sail past later when I'm in Hythe.

  6. LOL and a proper scone at that!!!

Baking a scone is the easy bit but getting hold of clotted cream especially on a ship is almost impossible.

Years ago we were on the Cunard Caronia and they had a huge bowl of clotted cream and the server was particularly generous! It was more cream with a small scone and jam.....haha.

  7. As you know from prior cruises, we Americans don't usually serve a "proper cuppa". I always travel with my PG Tips tea bags and request a pot of hot water. We also don't get proper clotted creation this side of the pond. I spend half my time on your side of the pond and my family always has a cream tea waiting for me when I arrive!

I'm sure what ever they serve, tea on the balcony will be lovely!

Oh yes, you can't beat proper clotted cream with a scone.

  8. Many thanks for all your replies, I appreciate you taking the time.

Just to clarify one point, other cruise lines leave alcohol in your cabin and you are charged once opened to your on board account. These mini bottles are then replenished by your cabin steward.

  9. If you are an Elite passenger, there will be a card in your cabin telling you the minibar setup is complimentary. Also, fyi, if you want to exchange items you can do so. For example we trade in the scotch, gin, and liquer for add'l vodka and the cokes and sprites for add'l tonice. That's at no add'l charge.

Thank you I shall look for the card before opening :)

  10. We bring red wine for dinner & if you have chilled wine you could bring it cold from your cabin and they will put it in a bucket of ice for you.

Thanks for the info. However I'm not sure my husband would want to walk to the restaurant carrying a bottle.

  11. With your great outlook I'm sure that you'll 'wine' your way across the Pacific without any problems. :p Costco is where we buy most of our wine when we're in the Islands.

We also enjoyed bringing wine onboard in the Med & appreciate that Princess didn't charge corkage for bottles we enjoyed in our cabin & we paid corkage for wine we enjoyed in the dining room...just like the "good old days"! ;)

Hi Astro-Flyer. Did you deliver your wine prior to dining or did you have to carry it in?

  12. I might take a couple of bottles of champagne for formal nights. I'm happy to pay the fee but have a question or two please.

Can we take them to the MDR in advance or are we expected to carry them in? Or do we ask our cabin steward and give him our table number?

    Thanks,
