  1. snip... I am also taking some of the 3M double backed sticky tape that removes with pulling the tab to release it. This may work better than the magnets as they do tend to shift when the door is open and closed.

Last year I used Blue Tak (don´t know what it´s called in US) on doors and walls to attach info sheets, maps etc

  2. I thought they were free in the casino when you had them punch your card ????

We got ours free in the casino. They are a different style to the ones they sell. Our casino ones were not as long, and black curly plastic. If someone can tell me how to post a photo, I would

  3. I had the same problem but I found that it was not the actual camera that caused the problem, the leather case has a magnetic clasp and it is this that causes the problem. You will get the same problem if your purse has a magnetic clasp too.

The same problem as well if you have magnetic sunglasses for your spex

  4. Cute, very cute dress. And so perfect for the Caribbean. OK, can we talk?

Undergarments. With this dress, obviously a strapless bra? Right? snip....

    .

Here in Spain they sell convertible bras with straps that match your bra colour, transparent straps or jewelled straps. The transparent straps are also sold separately. I´ve included this link to show the type of thing I mean, not to promote this particular company

Having the transparent straps is especially helpful if you have a larger bust and strapless bras aren´t an option.

  5. If you are just going into Buenos Aires for the day and later returning to the ship, take the free Stern's bus that drops you off at the Stern's jewelry store ..snip.. There is no obligation to go into the store.

If you have time DO go into Stern´s shop for a visit (however brief). They are a fabulous jewellers and have some lovely ornamants as well. The Stern shop in Rio, also has a self guided walk thro their workshops (complete with head phones in what ever language you need). You can see diamond grading (plus loads of other gem stones), stone cutting/polishing/setting all sorts of interesting things and then the showroom at the end where the sales staff aren´t pushy.

  7. Thanks for the info on the markets MightyQuinn. Some exotic flowers for the cabin would sound really nice. Thanks for eveyone's help on a difficult port to plan for.Annette

This is some info I recieved from another CC member Rich & Joan Blacharski for a cruise they did last year here is my abridged version

Dock at the commercial docks,a shuttle or taxi is required to get out of the commercial docks.

Find locally made handicrafts, at La Pila, a special area just outside Manta cruise port for unique pottery, Alpaca items, hand woven blankets, ponchos, tapestries, and intricately painted gourds. Panama hats and local Chocolate. You can bargain with stall holders; expect discounts up to 25%

Shuttle from Princess takes you around town. In the past, it stopped at fantastic places:

    1. A nice, friendly hotel Oro Verde which has beach, food, internet. Walk across the street to shopping, supermarket, phone

    2. Outdoor craft market. Also called Fisherman’s Park. Excellent place to buy panama hats and other stuff. Fantastic selection and prices. You can get US Dollars from the ATM machines.

Taxi from Outdoor crafts market to Archaeological Museum in Manta's Central Bank has collection of pre-Columbian artifacts ranging from the ancient Valdevivas Culture (circa 1800 B.C.) to the later Manta culture, from which the city takes its name.

Taxi to Montecristi and return. 15 minutes from Manta. visit this quaint small town of Montecristi, which is the birthplace of the Panama hat. Craft market in central square has lots of Panama hats along and wicker work.

Manta has many beaches. main beach, Murcielago has a boardwalk, craft markets bars etc

    Kite surfing is very popular.

Museo del Banco Central, Manta’s local museum.

We are visiting next Feb 2012 on Star Princess, so I will be interested to know hat you all get up to on your visit and if the above info is still accurate
