  1. We booked our cruise almost 2 years ago and when I booked they required both people in the room to purchase a drink package If they were 21. I'm not a drinker so I booked dh in a room with one of our daughters and I booked me in the adjoining room with our other daughter. Now that the rule has changed and both adults don't have to order a drink package (dh ordered one), should I call RC and have them switch our daughters in a room together (they are 18 and 16 and were going to be staying in the room together anyways) or is there really no reason to?

I just had the same question (similar situation) for my upcoming cruise on Oasis. my issue was the photo package, but the idea is the same. I was told If you switch you will need to rebook all reservations and have new cruise docs issues. On a practical side by booking with an adult in each room you will be able to bring 4 bottles of wine on board if you so choose. I was able to work out the photo package so I left the booking as is.

  2. I'm sure this has been asked and discussed already but most the posts I'm seeing are just asking how casual you can go on formal nights. I want to know the opposite. If I dress up, will I stick out like a sore thumb? I don't want to draw negative attention to myself but I love to get dressed up. I have a floor length gown that is fairly simple, I wore to a Mardi Gras ball this year. I'd love to have a chance to wear it again but I see most people posting that women just wear dress pants and a nice top.

Dress up! I will be on Oasis in two weeks and will be bringing my tux.

  3. Although I have searched this topic and found a bit of info, none of it is recent. In case things have changed in the last couple years, I wanted to ask if anyone has been on Freedom and knows whether they now have gluten free beer. One person in our group has celiac, and doesn't want to purchase the package if it is not offered, as that would be her drink of choice if she were to have alcohol. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as a phone call to RCI did little to solve this.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sheila

Yes, Its called Jack Daniels. If your gluten free how about not drinking beer!!

  4. Your keyword...."suggested" on other than formal nights...I've never seen anyone actually turned away .Regardless it never impacts my dining...sorry it does for some of you...perhaps a more upscale cruiseline might work out better...after 20 + cruises with RCI...I'm happy to just cruise and not judge others during their vacation.

Does writing in bold help you make your point??

  7. We just booked through a travel agent, and she was able to get cabins for us that I couldn't. I don't know how else I could have tried, but there were some classes that I just couldn't make the system offer me. We would have ended up with separate cabins for our family if I had booked online myself, but she got us connecting cabins.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Certain cabins and many connecting cabins are not available online, but had you called RC (or any TA they would have called ) the same cabins would have been available.

  8. And prepare to be shamed back as an obnoxious snob :)

Just kidding. I would never be so crass.

How is it that if you were invited to any other gathering that requested formal dress you would not question it. ie. wedding, charity event, awards night etc.. However on a cruise you find it acceptable to disregard the request. The point is that like all things we let it slide and look the other way. How about you have a little respect for your fellow passengers and your host and put on a collard shirt.

If that makes me a busybody or prude, I'm cool with that.

  9. We are cruising November 19, 2016 on the Rhapsody of the Seas 13 night Transatlantic from Malaga to Miami. The agency had group pricing and our outside stateroom is only costing $499.49/pp including taxes. (Great pricing!)We considered purchasing a drink package since we will be at sea quite a bit. The

Beer wine and soda package price looks like it is $42/day (not sure if that included the 18%gratuity) and that will cost us more than the cruise @$546/pp.

I can't see paying more for drinks than the cruise! Drinks have really gone up! We are not big drinkers but do enjoy having drinks when we cruise!

I will happily pay more for drinks than a cruise any day of the week! $42 a day to cruise whats to complain about.
