  1. As you can see, I've sailed on both lines and this next cruise is on Royal. It never hurts to try something new. At least you can form your own oppinion on what works for you. I don't sail on Royal often because they tend to be more expensive for me. I think its because of all the extra bells and whistles (ice rink, rock wall, flow rider, etc). I don't use them so why pay more. But thats just me. I cruise for the itinerery. :)

  2. Sorry you had issues on your cruise. Since this particular cruise is so port intensive, you probably did not have much opportunity to have breakfast in the main dining room. I eat there whenever I get the opportunity. :)

The Jumbotron has always been a turn off for me. I head to other parts of the ship to avoid it when I can.

Agree with you on getting around on this class of ships. its a pain. I've learned a few tricks over the years to make it easier.

  3. any place in the historic district will be very nice. We chose to stay at Four Points by Sheraton which is right at the edge of the historic district. We walked all over the historic district and the hotel was very nice.

Please please go to the Chart House on Bay street. http://www.chart-house.com/locations/savannah/

They also have a wonderful happy hour. Seriously, we found one great place after another there. But you can narrow it down via Yelp.com.

    I'm a bit jealous. *grin*

  4. I did this exact cruise this year. LOVE LOVE New Orleans. Now your going to get some sticker shock. We stayed at a private B&B in Marigny which is a little neighborhood just out of the quarter. Quiet, safe and easy walk to the action. It was $500 a night but all of the B&Bs/hotels go UP for Marti Gras. So I don't know how much you want to spend. To me, it was worth it.

  5. For those who need their football fix. This from John Heald's facebook page. Bon Voyage and enjoy :)

Here are the games we will show this week on the ship’s excluding Carnival Spirit which will show Australia kicking England’s buttocks again at Cricket .As these are the play out thingy games we will show them on the Dive In Movie Big Screens and also start our pre game “Sailgate” parties as well.

  6. As you can see by my history, I've done both and my cruise in Feb 2014 is on Royal. I wanted a different itinerary and just a change of pace for my boyfriend. The thing that gets me is I paid the same price for an inside room as I did on my last carnival cruise for a balcony. ouch.

I can only guess its the extra bells and whistles on the ship. Its stuff I don't use so I will probably go back to Carnival again until I feel the need for another change. :)

  7. This thread makes me laugh. Just last night, my hubby said to me that the Eagles are playing the day we arrive on the ship next week. So I asked, "Are you going to spend the entire trip watching the games?" His response was "Hey, obviously if they show the game, they want me to watch it."

    OY!

I'm sure the cruise line had to make special arrangements with the NFL just to show the games. I got to watch the super bowl this year while on my cruise. it was fun.
