  1. We tried RC once and never again.  Cabin steward was rude, acted like he was doing us a favor for taking care of our cabin.

Two different nightly shows were cancelled half way through for technical problems.

Smoking section was right by the entrance to the Lido buffet.  Non smokers would give the waving hand in front of their noses, cough and try to belittle the smokers that were there because it was the only place to smoke.  Not the smokers fault.

The real downer was the night they had the midnight buffet out on the Lido deck.  For starters, it made no sense to have it set up out there when everybody that got food had to go back into the buffet for a table.  We were in the smoking section when they were setting up the buffet.  The windows were open and the wind was quite strong.  I noticed that the wind was blowing the dinner rolls off onto the floor.  I went to one of the chefs that was setting it up and told him.  He came over, picked the rolls up off the floor and put them back on table tray. (I did mention this in the survey and got a call from RC.  They wanted to know the full story.  I told them and they said that they  were seriously thinking about not putting it out there anymore).

We have eleven cruises on Carnival.  We've had fun on every one with no complaints at all.  In fact, number twelve is on the books.

One thing to remember with renting a tux here on land, is how long the rental is for. Make sure you tell them you are going on a week-long cruise. I have checked prices in the past and found that they are priced for a weekend and need to be returned in three days at that price.

Sometimes, it's cheaper to buy a used one from a rental company than renting one.  I think I only paid around $100 for mine.  That was about ten years ago though.

The only reason the time matters at all is for shore excursions. Not only CCL but ALL shore excursion employees know EXACTLY when your ship is going to leave and what time to get you back. Some of you are making way too much of the time thing. The time will be posted boldly on your fun times, BE BACK ON THE SHIP 4pm SHIPS TIME.

That's great if you go on an excursion.  For those that just walk around or lay on the beaches, you still need to keep track of time for getting back on the ship.

Yes, the time will be posted on the Fun Times but you still have to make sure that you are going by ship time and not island time.  As others have mentioned, if you don't have a watch, buy a cheap one just to be safe.

  4. We flew in a day early.  Rented a car at the airport, and drove to the Radisson at the Port.  The next morning, we dropped the car off at their office just a short distance from the Radisson.  From there, we hopped on the shuttle that they run to the port.  He dropped us off at the Radisson on his way to the port.  From there, we got on the hotel shuttle that took us to the port.

After the cruise, we got on the car rental shuttle and went back to their office to pick up another vehicle, stayed at the Radisson another night, then drove to the airport and dropped off the vehicle.

You really have to be careful with the gas.  They want you to fill up the tank or pay an  arm and a leg if they do it.  Only trouble is, there aren't any gas stations between the port and the airport.  Fill it up at the port.

  5. I think what killed Formal Night was when the airlines started charging for baggage.  People didn't want to spend an extra $35-50  for the garment bag for the fancy clothes. I have a tux that will probably never get worn again unless my wife buries me in it.

On previous trips when traveling with family or friends, we were all allowed to board at the same time because of my handicap priority boarding. I doubt this would happen, but would be nice.

When my Sister in law was in a wheel chair,  only one person from our group was allowed to board early with her.

  7. You might get a free drink from the casino host but never the DOU card.  The only way to get it is by gambling.  Depending on the length of the cruise, you will have to get either 1000 or 1500 points to get the card.  For every $2.50 spent, you will get 1 point.  Let's say you put $10 into a slot machine.  First pull, you are lucky and hit a $100 payout.  Now play that $100.  You now have 40 points but you have only spent $10 of your original money.  Hope this helps.

Can the majority of  E-muster be completed before you even get on the ship -

it would be a win-win situation.

Not at all.  The object of the e-muster is to have you go to your muster station (life boat) so that in an emergency, you know where to go.  You are assigned a specific station so before you get on the ship, you wouldn't even know where that station is.

Just curious about drinking the ship water.  Is this something people avoid?  I'm not sure I see a need for plastic bottles?

The water in your cabin bathroom is fine to drink.  After all, you brush your teeth with it so it's safe to drink too.  Have drank the water out of the sink on twelve cruises and nothing has fallen off of me yet.

    🤣

But I disagree that every expense that a company has on the ship is going to be paid for by the customer. If that were the case no cruise company would ever go bankrupt. They charge what the market will bear and succeed or fail on whether or not that at least covers expenses. One way to convince passengers to fork over more money is to label part of the charge "gratuities."

I respectfully disagree.    The only way the cruise companies have money is by selling passage on their ships.  The cost of your tickets plus anything you buy while onboard is what keeps them in business.  It's true that the cruise companies do pay for some of their employee's wages but they get the money from passengers.  In the long run, without passengers footing the bill, they wouldn't last.   Cruise companies go bankrupt because of spending more than they take in.

With the increasingly-weird state of the world over the last two years

I'm beginning to wonder if I've now done My Last Cruise Ever...

    Will I ever cruise again??

Sadly, we are having the same feeling.

Looks like just these particular ports listed have vaccine restrictions:

    • San Juan – Based on our agreement with the destination, guests will have to remain on board
    • Limón, Costa Rica – Guests will have to remain on board
    • Grand Turk – Guests ages 16 and older will have to remain on board
    • St. Kitts – Guests ages 12 and older will have to remain on board
    • Bonaire – Guests ages 12 and older will have to remain on board
    • Tortola – Guests ages 12 and older will have to remain on board

So, if a ship does go to these islands, only kids can get off the ship?  That makes no sense.   I'm guessing that the ships just don't go to these islands now.  No reason to stop at an island that won't let the passengers off.

With drinks on us in the casino is that for you and your guest or only to the person who received the offer?

It depends on what was offered to you.  In some cases, it's just you.  In other cases, it's for you and a companion in your cabin.  The only way to find out for sure is to contact whomever you booked your cruise with to see which was offered.  I have read on here that if your offer was for you only and your spouse had the same offer, that it can be arranged through your booking agent that both of you get it.

What kind of proof of testing will Carnival accept?

If there is doubt as to the authenticity or validity of the test, and the testing facility or healthcare provider is not able to be contacted for verification purposes, embarkation may be denied.

This may be the biggest hangup.  Are you cruising on a weekend when the nurse is not available for verification if there is some doubt about the validity of the test?

Sorry but your examples are not how it works.

If you read Saint Greg's posting that shows the instructions, it does indeed work that way. "Note, you may receive different letter assignments."  You push the button let's say five times.  The system will fill up a car.  If car A only has room for three people, the other two will be assigned to car B.

I have  said right from the start of these elevators, how difficult would it be for the makers to change the pads so that after you select your deck, you select how many people are in your party.  That would end the confusion.

The CD use to make announcements for older gents.  If your BB's are sagging and you sit on the toilet while flushing, you can go down to Deck one to retrieve your BB's back.See the source image

It's not quite that strong, and there isn't a seal between the seat and the toilet.  Typical CD crude joke.

Not to mention that you can't be sitting on the toilet and flush at the same time.  The button is on the wall behind the toilet and you have to lower the lid to get to it.

Later around 2:00 pm we came back and the cabin next door was still closed. . So we used our new cards to enter the closed cabin my daughters were assigned to. It was a complete mess and hadn’t been cleaned.

I question why the cabin hadn't been cleaned by 2:00 pm.  All cabins are normally cleaned by 1:30 pm.  Even if the steward thought the other couple was staying in the same cabin, it still should have been cleaned by 1:30 pm.
