Just heard the San Juan PR turned away the Symphony of the Seas today after changing their entry requirements. I’m supposed to be there in a couple of weeks and it isn’t looking good.

Just saw that the Symphony of the Seas has been turned away. It looks like San Juan has new entry requirements. Does anyone know any more info?

is it better to check in as soon as it becomes possible? I wouldn't mind a free upgrade...

I think that might be a bit of a poor choice of words. I would venture to guess that requested really means required in this instance.
I would also think that Carnival knows the importance of their wording and would have said required if that is what it was. I’m sure we will hear more in the next few days clearing up some of our questions.

Can anyone explain to me how the masking policy is actually different from what they have been doing? I haven’t been on a cruise in a couple of years but will be going next month. To me it sounds the same to what they have already been doing.

It's just in a free fall right now...

I have been working with a rep from Carnival to book a room on the Carnival Breeze that leaves next January. This was a part of a group and we booked 4 balcony cabins but I had them switch mine to an interior because I was concerned with the cost. On Friday, my original balcony cabin was showing as available again online and I decided to just go for it. So I called my rep and he said he could get it moved but we would have to wait until today because the people who can do it without losing my OBC promo were not there.
So today I call and now he says that the room is for 4 people (there are 2 of us) so we cannot have the room anymore (even though we originally had it booked). Plus, he cannot move it without losing the OBC promo (even though on Friday he said he could have it done).
I am a bit frustrated now. Does anyone have any advise as to what I could do?

Hello all,
I am planning on bringing my Canon 5D Mark IV and several lenses (including a 70-200) on my next cruise- but I don’t want to bring my full size tripod and have been looking for something smaller. I keep seeing those flexible tripods that can wrap around hand railings and whatnot. Which one would you recommend for me?

Thank you! I was just thinking of changing from an interior cabin to a balcony (because I have a hard time not having a balcony despite the massive cost difference).

I was just looking at some deck plans on the Breeze and noticed that some cabins have little boxes or stars in them... anyone know what these symbols mean?

Fantastic review! I have only ever sailed on Carnival, and really I see no reason to change. Not that I have anything against other cruise lines like Royal- but I am comfortable with Carnival. I am sure one day I will branch out and I have always wondered what it would be like going on a Royal cruise. So thank you for the wonderful comparison!

UPDATE: I found my passport!
My problem is solved. :)

Again, thank ALL of you for ALL of your help! That is what I was thinking, but it beings peace of mind to me when other people confirm it.
And I understand what all of you are saying about how it is better to have one in case of emergency. The thing is, I already have a passport... somewhere. I recently moved and all of my stuff is inbetween two places... and my passport is lost somewhere in one of the many boxes.
The big reason I had to ask this is because I am taking my girlfriend on this cruise (and this is her FIRST cruise) and she has never even left the country before and therefore does not have a passport... and I am a little rusty on all the new passport rules.
Again, thanks everyone for their help!

Oh thank you sooo much! Really, even though I already read a few posts and even went to all of the official web sites that talk about this, I just needed someone else to let me know that it is okay to not have a passport.
Thanks again!

Okay, I am pretty sure I already have the answer, but being as paranoid as I am, I just have to ask and hopefully that'll relieve some of my tension...
I am looking at booking a cruise (Carnival) that leaves and returns to Miami, and hits Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Cozumel in Jan of 2010. Is a passport needed or is a birth certificate and Drivers license all I need?
Thanks for any help I get...

Probably that time when I had an assassin following me around trying to bump me off. It started with a thrown glass that nearly hit me in the head, and the last attempt was when I found a knife sticking out of a chair I was about to sit in.
Man, my face was red with embarrassment from almost falling for them!

I have no idea how to attach pictures... but I will give it a shot.

I’m supposed to be in San Juan on the 20th…. Really hoping it opens back up because I’ve been really excited for this port.
