Was on Azura a week ago. Screen pretty awful. Lots of pixels not working or discoloured. It’s not unwatchable but I think pretty embarrassing as ships alongside can see the quality of picture.

We were in the Azura cruise that it was trialling on. It’s very expensive and the take up was very low. We looked at getting it but to make it work you pretty much have to be a hardcore alcoholic! I only found one family that had actually got it.

The last propoer refit done in the UK (that i can remeber) was Ocean Villages 2005 refit. I have a photo somewhere of the then new Arcadia infront of OV sat low down in the dry dock in Southampton.

Awaits incoming 'Indy' fanclub moaning about what a disgrace it is
Well the one thing my friend can't tell me yet is what the other ship in 2019 will be yet. But as they are now booking for 2019/20 then we will know shortly.

That is no surprise at all - as all new builds stay around the area where they are build for a while - so why would it be different for O4 in 2018 Q4 in 2019 and O5 in 2021...
Yes it is no surprise at all.

Hi All,
Had to have a look at this thread as "scrubber" has a whole different meaning this side of the pond.

Bumped into Jeff Eaton in my local supermarket, we both live in the same town, and he confirmed the dates here.

Drinks work out cheaper on P&O than most of the American lines even when you have one of their a drinks packages !!
Not when you get the package for free as part of your booking [emoji898][emoji481][emoji482][emoji482][emoji483][emoji484]

I have always thought 2021 would be a critical year.
I suspect it will depend on demand for cruising. If it continues to rise as it has been over the past few years they may not be able to let her go.

I would expect Fred already has their eyes on her :-)

I see they have gone small then. :)

I do think that 180000 is a bit big for them. Another Britannia size would have been adequate in my opinion.

Good morning,
This is Paul Ludlow, P&O Cruises SVP, we are delighted to announce that P&O Cruises is to build a next-generation cruise ship for delivery in 2020. It will be the largest cruise ship to be built specifically for British guests.
The new ship will exceed 180,000 gross tons and will accommodate approximately 5,200 guests (lower berths). Through an innovative use of space, the ship will offer an extensive range of dining, entertainment and relaxing features.
The ship will be built by Meyer Werft at its shipyard in Papenburg, Germany and will feature the company’s exclusive “green cruising” design as one of the first generation of cruise ships to be fully powered by Liquefied Natural Gas, shipping’s most advanced fuel technology, which will significantly reduce air emissions.
The number of British passengers taking a cruise in the past five years has significantly increased, boosted most recently by our very successful launch of Britannia last year. We know there is still huge potential as more and more people realise the value for money, choice and range of dining and entertainment options available on ships of all sizes. With an amazing range of itineraries, from two days to three months, there is a cruise to suit every budget.
This ship will be the largest in the P&O Cruises fleet, will have a striking new exterior and interior design and will include the company’s classic and iconic features. We are also developing and exploring new signature guest experiences, details of which will be announced soon.
Exciting times!

We will wait to see what RCI have to offer in 2018 before we decide. I feel it is too early to make a decision when we dont know what else will be on offer.

Marty,
Try another company, only most of them are run like bus routes.
I am on Arcadia in the next few weeks. We are going to the Med with 5 new ports, well new to me. The way things are at the moment very difficult to keep on pulling rabbits out of hats.

We alternate between companies based on itinerary. We are with RCI next year based on them offering a better deal than P&O (at time of booking). Personally I'm happy to cruise anywhere just was hoping for something different.

Do not want to sound too depressing, but. We serial cruisers
Are getting older. Now the cruising programme is coming
Out two years ahead. Are we all going to be around to
Take them? A serious thought.
How'd you reckon people who book Saga cruises feel ;-)
Seriously though there is no point thinking about it. Everyday is a blessing and no ones guaranteed to see the next.

As per the norm, Gibralter port is showing the cruise schedules for 2018 and you can see when the P&O ships will be doing med cruises. For instance it looks like Azura and Britannia will be doing Med cruises during the August school holidays.

Shh idid hear rumours R.C.I might home base the next Oasis class ship in Southampton in 2018 also talking of extending city cruise terminal 101 berth, s
The 101 terminal has been ear marked for change for years. Its currently not happening in the near future. There are also no plans to bring the Oasis class ships to Southampton (source friend who works in ABP).

Yes it was a great 2 weeks. The ship is in overall good condition and we had some of the best food and service we have had with P&O. It was a bit of a tricky end as we had a crew member die in a tragic accident and then had to divert to Vigo to medivac a lady off.
