  1. We had the same issue. We were booked on Ventura and then we found out we were expecting a baby. Because in that situation P&O are actually telling you that you cannot travel, they provided a full refund including deposit. We also received the deposit back for our wedding (which was on the same cruise).

There were 10 in our party and they also got refunded. We then rebooked when the baby's age was appropriate.

  2. So you wont go France or Denmark which have had terrorist attacks in the last 12 months and they are hardly muslim countries and it could easily happen anywhere in the UK.

I do think we get too hysterical about all this. I agree that I have no desire to visit any Muslim country at the moment. However the UK has lived with Terrorism, well for all my 33 years. Don't forget the IRA. They have killed more people in the UK than any Muslim attack. The other school of though is that the higher the terror alert the more observant the public are.

  3. We did the cable car and Basket in our own this April. 10 euro single in the cable car and 30 euro for two in a basket. Cable car and gardens are easy to do on your own.

In Lisbon consider getting the bus to the aquarium. It's a lovely way to spend a few hours. The aquarium is amazing.

  4. Twin 2 broke out 2 days after our first son who is now over the worst. Assuming my wife doesn't catch it (though it now transpires her mother thinks she's already had it!) we will be good to go on 16th. Feeling more positive.

That's great news :-) it's certainly doing the rounds at the moment.

  5. Thanks for the review - hope I'm as lucky with smooth seas on my Azura cruise in June :) Did you have a "tropical" night? It's on the list on the P&O website but it's been listed for my other cruises too and we didn't have one. I'm hoping as we're going to the Canaries we will have one (don't want to buy hubby a hawaiian type shirt if he doesn't need to have one!)

    Thanks

Yes we had it the night we were in Tenerife :-)

  6. Yes that would fit with my life expectancy for Oriana. The first of these ships is due 2019.

    Details here:-

March 2015: Carnival Corp & plc is ordering a total of nine cruise ships, five from Fincantieri and four from Meyer Werft. The new ships would be delivered over a four-year period between 2019 and 2022. Fincantieri will build five of the new vessels at its shipyards in Monfalcone and Marghera in Italy while Meyer Werft will construct the remaining four at both its German yard at Papenburg and its new and larger capacity Finnish yard at Turku.

    Note no sizes given.

It's also interesting that it's not just Fincantieri who are building them. I think apart from the Aida ships, Carnival have pretty much gone to Italy in the last 10 years.

  7. I've booked a cruise for next year on the Aurza.

I've been on many Princess cruises but only P&O twice. The last time we went on P&O the standard had gone down, we didn't know if it was part of a 75 day cruise, or the fact the ship need its re-fit.

I was wondering if anyone has got pics of the ship after its refit.

on pic of the cablin Balcony on deck C.

    pic of any food service.

Sorry to disappoint but the refit didn't touch the cabins. Check out the Azura refit thread for more info.

  8. Hi - I don't think there were any tennis competitions as far as I am aware , but someone may well correct me on this. I certainly didn't hear of any.

The food in the buffet is reasonable - there is a good choice of salad, cold meats etc. Sometimes there are prawns. Bread rolls are always available. There is usually soup, some sort of curry or spicy dish such as goulash, rice, sometimes pasta, jacket potatoes etc.

Sorry can't help with opening times for The Glasshouse and Sindhu .

    Sue

No tennis that I remember either.

  9. Recently returned from a cruise where we did the ships tour (expensive but worth it IMHO). Anyway, at the end of the tour you get a 15 minute chat with the captain/deputy. When the question was asked about what size of ships were the future, the captain was very clear that he felt it was larger ships that would be coming in the future for P & O.

Lots of reasons around efficiency, emissions and staffing costs were briefly touched on.

Carnival have placed an order for 9 ships and have yet to say where those ships will be deployed. It wouldn't surprise me to see P&O get a sister to Britannia.

  10. Hi - No it was Ocean terminal that we used for embarkation.

I also very much got the impression that they were still finishing job's onboard and so as you say they could still change matresses / carpet etc whilst the ship is in service. One other change I did notice was that the cabin steward had an additional helper with him on some occasions there were three people doing our cabin. I think possibly they have more cabins to do but do them between them, either that or perhaps ours was new and needed showing the ropes. But that was not the impression I got though as he seemed to know his job tbh.

    Sue

Yes there were still contractors onboard who where there for the full 12 nights. Mainly trim experts. I went to the front of the ship as we were sailing out of La Palma and there was loads of the new carpet drying after the water leaks.

  11. Come on now, admit it, which one of you people have put in an offer for her??

Ok I admit it, I've got her. Going to start up a cruise company so bad that all the people that like moaning can book on and have loads to complain about. First up is the livery. Hull will be light brown and funnel lime green. Buffet will have a dress code and the main dining room will be shorts and t-shirt. OBC will consist of a button and a chocolate coin. Let me know if you want a brochure and I'll be sure not to send you one!!

Here is Neil last week on Azura. A great bloke with a great sense of humour. The deputy Captain caught man flu early on the cruise and he took the mock out of him on almost all of his announcements.

  13. The children's club is an obvious thing facility to use, they have organised activities for the various age groups e.g. 2 - 5, and the children can meet up with other playmates.

Afternoons there is a children's afternoon tea if you wish to dine as a couple at night/s.

The night nursery will accommodate sleeping children until very late.

Apart from that you can look at beach days, assuming itinerary permits this. Some beaches are at ports not normally associated with beach traditionally!

Some of the cruise line excursions are excellent for children. DIY excursions are easy at some ports and I have used http://www.viator.com for other excursions where the cruise line range has not been suitable.

    Regards John

Seconded. The P&O youth teams are in my opinion the best in the business.

  14. Didn't have any problems in the bars or main restaurant (oriental first sitting). Agree the carpets haven't been replaced in the cabins. In fact some are so thin now that the metal grippers are coming through the carpet by the door threshold. The queues to get in the playhouse were terrible. One night it started near Malabar!!!!

  15. She is NOT for sale ( we'll certainly not through this method) This is purely a broker trying to find a buyer for her even though she is not for sale. Basically they are a third party broker that will try to find a buyer for vessels that are not for sale. If they can find a buyer who is willing to pay then they contact the owner and if a deal goes through they take a cut. It's common practice. This is very common in the ferry industry. Most of the Brittany ferries fleet has appeared on these websites but they were never for sale. If Carnival were to dispose of her then it would be done behind closed doors and not through a broker like this. Also ship ownership can be a very complicated thing.
