  1. Hello all, I am looking renew my vows at one of the ports along our itenerary. I was wondering if anyone knew of churches or any reasonably priced options near where the ship docks.

  4. Agree would not pay that for a renewal. What itnereary are you considering? See my update about maybe doing it at Port in a local church?

Yeah I saw thanks gonna post in the port of call sections of where we are going. Think Nassau, cozumel, costa maya and coxen hole I think.

  5. Allure no longer had a chapel. They removed it on the last dry dock . :(. That being said, Royal can and will do a nice ceremony if you reach out to them well in advance of the sailing. On Allure, I am sure they can find a place to have a memorable renewal service. Congrats on the Anniversary!!

I think the renewal cost is much less than the actual wedding cost.

Well that puts a kink in plans. I called RC and they connected me to RC weddings which is different branch or company. Minimum price for any type of ceremony even what I said was simple vow renewal was $2k. Way too much for getting almost nothing.

  6. Hello all, I was looking to renew my vows on The Allure for my 10 year. However RC's 2k minimun wedding package is too rich for my blood.

I was wondering if I can reserve the chapel for my own purposes.

The plan would be my wife and few guests like my kids and mother would go in the Chaple and just read our vows to each other the go to a specialty dining and do dinner.

These seems like an inexpensive option for a unofficial "ceremony"

  7. Are you in an Aqua Theater Suite, or a regular Balcony room? The Aqua Theater Balconies are much much larger than the Boardwalk balcony. I believe they have at least 2 loungers as well as a table that seats 4-6. If you search YouTube for Aqua Theater Suite you should get some good videos of them.

The Boardwalk balcony probably has a small table with 2 chairs.

Wish I could afford an aqua theater suite lol. No I'm in the last balcony of the deck. It just happens to have a sweet view of the aqua theater and the water.

  8. It's a little early for my wife to commit, guess she is worried I'm just in cruise mode cause we just booked a family cruise. I want to pick either the 9 day liberty for RCL or the NCL breakaway to Bermuda where you stay at kings wharf for 3 days. I'm more the cruise fanatic and that would combine her land based enjoyment with my cruise enjoyment. Unless she throws a kink in the whole thing and decides something completely different lol. Wish me luck.

  9. Yes, you would have to drink about $55.00/$65.00 a day to break even. I just went through the same thing for my upcoming trip. I'm not a big drinker, and also plan on bringing the allowed 2 bottles of wine onboard for my room, so for me it isn't worth it.

Only down side is you have to keep track of your bar bill.

But if you are a big drinker it will set your mind at ease knowing you don't need to keep a mental tab of your alcoholic expenses and you have the liberty of trying several different things that maybe you normally wouldn't if you were paying for them. :)

This is my big reason for why I am going to get it. Not to force myself to drink so that I can try every single drink on the book I have ever wanted to without worrying about my bill at the end.

Or like I saw somewhere posted on here. I love milkshakes. Well they cost extra but I could just order a virgin mudslide now. Or non virgin too:D

  10. I am sure there are a lot of people fly in the day of and have zero bad experiences. I flew day of my first cruise. I have a cruise booked in February. I will be flying in the day of(have super early flight).

Got trip insurance so I feel fine. I will continue to do this as the night before just adds more expenses to me.

Only exception is if I wanted to go earlier to do stuff.

  11. We are a young couple, 31 years old. We brought our toddler along too. Yes we were younger than mostly everyone. Surprisingly, my son was not the youngest onboard!! We even had a few people ask us, no joke "What are you doing this cruise with all of us old farts?!?" We had a good laugh!

We enjoyed the trip and didn't feel out of place for one second. We actually went to bed before most people. The Schooner Bar and Pub were busy well in to the night!!

Feel free to check out my review (Brilliance), listed in my signature. We just got back a few weeks ago from this trip. it was a refreshing change from the Caribbean.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback. Would I love to go to Bahamas or Caribbean seeing as I haven't done western yet, yes. But we do like Boston and that area too. So it's very intriguing

  12. 6 nights in the MDR, 1 night in Chops.

and by the way, DW and I think the food in the MDR is just fine, but then we aren't foodies or food critics writing a newspaper article like some on these boards do.

I feel like so many people are so focuses on their review and what they are going to write when they get back that they overly critique everything and forget they are on vacation.

  13. my wife and I (30 and 31) like the Boston area. We have done Caribbean cruises and thought why not try something different. Although she likes fall I want to be able to use pool so I was looking at August out of bayone/NY I see good options. Long story short I was wondering what the Avg age is on these type of sailings?

Is it generally an older crowd or will we find people our age?

  14. mdr. Our meals are all paid for in with the cruise fare so why pay extra. I know the food is better, but we eat at a lot of nice restaurants with great food when we're home so I don't need to go on a cruise to eat in nice restaurants. Plus if we get a nice group of people at our table, we enjoy the conversation over dinner.

When we don't have time for the mdr because we have to catch a show, we have a fast dinner at the Windjammer.

I have yet to really have the experience of meeting new people at our dinner table. 2 of the 3 cruises I have been on were with family.

The one my wife and i did alone the paired us with a couple. They seemed nice we thought we had a good time but they never came back to the MDR. I guess they didn't like us or wanted to be alone. I did see them once or twice elsewhere and one of the times it was during formal night and i saw them walking around and they were not dressed up at all.

US or them who knows i had fun eating alone with my wife on our honeymoon
