  1. It depends on my mood. Usually it is a mix of specialty and MDR. Agree with those who said they liked the variety in the MDR since it changes daily. Some meals in either category have been wonderful while others not so good. But usually I find something that I like.

Just wondering if the Dynamic Dining that RCCL is developing will also feature different menu's in the same venue or will the MDR experience become a thing of the past on that line?

I think DD will be different restaurant different menu. So really the discussion then become free vs fee.

  2. You know there is another option - the buffet restaurant. There's no extra cost, there's no set time, and the food is often the same as the MDR but plus lots more. IMHO it's definitely the best option for winding down after a busy day exploring a port of call.

Do not get me wrong I like the buffet and if I am super tired after a day out or running late for a show I will eat there for dinner.

But usually I eat there at breakfast and lunch and generally do not want it for dinner.

Plus my wife and I enjoy dressing up a little bit more for the nice meal and time in the MDR.

  3. Not looking to judge or anything just generally curious as to what everyone's preference is.

Are you the type that stays with MDR most of the week because they change the menu?

Or are you the type that loves to spend most nights in the specialty dining?

I myself prefer the MDR, I do like that they change the menu and to me it keeps it fresh and I feel like I miss out if I go elsewhere. Plus it saves me extra money.

I have had one experience in specialty dining and I enjoyed it very much and I am not adverse to trying again just prefer the variety every day and money savings of the MDR.

    What say you?

  4. I booked my Allure cruise after final payment and it has worked out very well for me. I have been tracking this cruise since June when the price for an solo inside cabin was $2000. Over the summer the price went up and down so I knew that I had to wait for final payment which was in August. When the price went down to $1273 I snagged it and then watched for it to go down some more. I get price alerts so I knew when the price went up or down. Long story short I have upgraded from a small inside to a CP view to a CP balcony to a Oceanview balcony for just an additional $77. I am sailing on Sunday and will be in an Oceanview Balcony for a total of $1350. Back in August this D2 balcony was $2100 for one person. So glad that I waited and waited as I feel that I got a great deal.

what site or app did you use for the price alerts?

  5. My wife and I have cruised 3 times. 1 RCl. 1 Princess and one NCL.

We have had 2 insides and 1 Ocean view.

I do not mind the inside and I think it saves money for doing other stuff or on board expenses.

My next cruise is a balcony, the main reason we booked it was we thought our 2 young ones would have trouble with no natural light and knowing the time of day.

I do not know if it will change my opinion so we will see.

As for suites I just do not think its going to happen unless I get a huge upgrade or find it for the same price as a balcony.

  6. We're looking at an August 2015 9-Night Canada & New England cruise on Liberty. Itinerary is Boston, Portland, Bar Harbor, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.

To date, we've only done Caribbean cruises and wanted to try a different sort of destination. We've been on Freedom, so we're familiar with the class of ship. It's definitely more expensive than a Caribbean cruise, and the excursions seem to be a bit pricier, too.

Can anyone offer their insights on what the atmosphere will be like on board for this cruise? Or any other differences from cruising the Caribbean?

I was just looking at this cruise and wondering the same exact thing. I think one thing that will be different is it seems that this route will be done by the Liberty of the Seas which is a much bigger boat.

Even though fall would be beautiful I was looking at august so that we could possibly still use the pools

Thanks for starting this thread and all the posts so far have been very encouraging.

  7. I need some help from my thrift experienced cruisers. I am looking to book an anniversary trip in August (very flexible to Oct).

What I am wonderign is when is the best time to book. Now early? When are the big sales?

A lot of times people mention a huge sale in march or may? DO I wait till then and how do I get in on that or is it general?

    Thanks for any suggestions

  8. All three levels serve the same menu, and will continue to do so till DD begins in March. For this TA, MTD was on 4 and 5, with 3 being traditional dining. Whether it will be the same in Feb depends on how many choose MTD and how many traditional. When we sailed her in Aug, 3 & 4 were traditional and 5 was MTD. Your seapass card will say which deck, and it will be very clear once onboard. Menus are the same across all three decks.

    Thanks for the answer.

  9. First of thanks for the wonderful review.

My question is about mytime dining with the new set up. I cruise in feburary before they make it dynamic dining but how does the dining work. I know if you have scheduled it probably tells you which of the three resteraunts to go to but what about the mytime? is there a specific one or you just line up outside like a regular restaurant and wait your turn?

Did all serve the same or different?

  10. As everyone has said you have to look at reviews as not being gospel. More people in the world go out of their way to write negative reviews then they do positive reviews. Some people are pickier than others.

Some people need to realize they are still on vacation you know. Some of the reviews have read are hilarious.

"omg I had one less towel darn your royal"

"Arg there are kids in the kid area"

It would take a major thing wrong for me lose my cool on vacation. its suppose to be relaxing.

I will be the first to say these cruise boards are amazing and helpful but I also think they take away from the pack your suitcase get on board and just be free.

You would think they could at least acknowledge the help being offered?

Thank you everyone else for your advice.

While you ex techie posted 2 very awe inspiring posts of random numbers a bunch of questions and capped it all off reposting someone else's advice.

But Thank you so much for the time and effort it took you to do that.[emoji122]

  12. On the premium package I found list on here that someone put Cocktail us up to $10 and wine up to $12.

What if the cost is more can i not get it or do i pay the difference.

For example I saw a glass of wine that was $17. Can I not get it or pay the difference of $5?

  13. sorry if my post was confusing

I would have 2 adults and 2 kids

when I mentioned the $1k I meant per person for inside room (and thats an old ship)

I am in Philly so add another 1200 for flights and we are looking at 5200 minimum

I could go to WDW for cheaper than that.

  14. I want to take a Disney cruise as much for me as my kids. They are always just so expensive.

I mean is $1k normal year round for inside stateroom on older ship?

Does Disney ever have the wow or bogo sales on March 1st or other times that other lines have?

When is cheapest time to book a Disney cruise if any?
