  1. I have pre-booked the Alegrissimo Classic for our cruise - however I am having 2nd thoughts and would appreciate input. Since we have four ports - two of which we will be at all-inclusive resorts with day passes- I am wondering if we would be better off booking the vouchers & wine package....always looking for the most bang for my $$ - perhaps we would come out substantially better with 2 of the 15 voucher packages each and a wine package for dinner.( 4x$72=$288 +$155 = $443 vs $608) all the more to play with in the casino.....that's 30 vouchers each and a nice bottle of wine each night.....

Is there a wine list somewhere that shows which wines are included in the $155/7 bottle package vs the $85/7 ....and does that mean I have to take 2 reds, 2 whites, and a rose with the cheaper option....I don't want them saying - no yo have to order a rose. We've never booked an alcohol package but normally buy a wine package on board - to enjoy a bottle with dinner each night.....also - if you have "vouchers" - then you have little papers you have to carry around?

    Thanks for any help.

  2. I would tend to lean toward the Western itinerary for your first cruise . The ports offer more variety - Falmouth, Jamaica offers many options for tours although for a first timer I would recommend a tour that includes a visit to Dunns River Falls. Grand Cayman take a snorkel cruise that includes stingray city and Cozumel - either opt for a tour to the ruins or a day pass at Mr. Santos or NC. If the additional cost of tours is prohibitive you can explore the Eastern itinerary without tours / Private island is a fun beach day. Walk around old San Juan and the fort . St . Maarten / catch the water taxi over to Great Bay Beach - grab two chairs/an umbrella/ and a bucket of beers for about $20 from one of the beach vendors enjoy a beach day with great shopping right behind you. GB is not a beautiful beach - but always lots of fun.

  3. Not sure if this is your first cruise - but IMHO if it is you may prefer the variety of the Western. Falmouth offers a chance to explore Jamaica - many options for tours including famous Dunns River Falls - a must for a first time visitor. / many other options in Jamaica with it's beautiful mountains and lush vegitation. Grand Cayman offers awesome snorkeling & diving as well as beautiful beach day on 7 mile beach. Cozumel -

  4. I loved the Oasis - probably my favorite cruise after the Tahitian Princess - but I don't care how Divina compares. ..... I am looking forward to a nice vacation with my husband - so often we cruise with others and I am really looking forward to some time away from work to focus on my husband. What a great rate we got - a balcony& drink package for less tales that third what I paid for my Oasis balcony - I am going to have a good time ! If it's not perfect - ok

    - but I will have more than my money's worth of fun and some special - much needed - alone time with DH!

  5.

    This is lie.

My information comes from first hand experience, documents provided by the cruise line and also from internet sources.

The Oasis class offers the most diverse entertainment program at sea.

    No space for discussions.

It's based on technology that is not available on other ships.

You're calling someone else a liar?! No space for discussion?

    That's special!:D

This is a place of discussion!

  6. I've noticed in a few reviews lately, and in the forum some comparisons between the Divina and other ships!

My question is how fair is it to compare the Divina to other ships, and other cruise lines that charge significantly more money, and not make that a large part of the comparison?

We believe in 'you get what you pay for', and right now the Divina's prices for a week are lower then any other cruise line, and lower then most hotels at a resort, and we aren't talking about the free food, the free shows, the multiple ways to get cheap drinks, and a different view out your window each day that you get cruising!(if your not inside)

An example of what I'm saying: we choose 2 weeks on the Divina in a balcony instead of 1 week in the Yacht Club! The price was about the same, and we chose 2 weeks(more time on the ship, more ports to see, longer vacation) instead of 1 week with a lot more service, and better food, feeling privaledge:D, etc.!

Reviews about the Divina's service, food quality, service, or comparisons to other lines are all subjective!

But what's not subjective? The Divina 'IS' the lowest priced 7 day cruise in the Caribbean this year by a lot!

I've asked some who've said other cruise company's had better service, 'was the better service on the other line worth double the Divina price, and even more, because for some I'm sure money is less important then service! But I don't think this is how most people think!

    What do you think!:D

Well said Russian Bear. Originally we were planning to sail on Celebrity this Spring Break with friends. But when I heard encouraging reports from other TA's just off the Divina I knew I had to check her out.... The price difference / even when I include the classic beverage package is substantial. ( balcony) I'll be the first from our Agency to sail on Divina / and I will give an honest review. Will I promote her to my clients - I'll know for sure after I check her out. But - I am looking forward to seeing and doing as much as I can so is can give an honest opinion..... Can't really critique a ship without sailing her first!

I don't expect these amazing rates to last / I just think it is MSC's way to say give us a chance to show what we've brought to the American market,

  7. There isn't much to do right at the port in Freeport. You can get a bus or taxi to Port Lucaya for shopping. We actually booked an snorkeling excursion though with Pat & Diane's. You can view reviews and information at trip advisor

Pat & Diane's will pick you up right where you get off the ship and return you right back there or you can just take the bus back on your own after shopping at Port Lucaya.

How did you like Pat & Diane"s? I have some friends who are going on their first cruise in April and I am trying to help them with ideas....they will be taking their girls - middle school & high school age......Would appreciate your personal thoughts - will also show them the trip advisor reviews.

    thanks!

    Sandy:D

  8. I do both room service and MDR breakfast. I get tea and a bread roll fro room service and have it on my balcony as I wake up. I then go down to MDr an hour later for an omelette.

Yes - that is what I do...I have to have some quiet time on my balcony with coffee....and a little something..before I head out - and then eat something else for breakfast....We even have a coffee station in or bedroom at home - haha

  9. This thread is giving me great entertainment, especially when someone feeds the troll a breadcrumb.

White Star was purchased by Cunard, which is owned by gasp!! Carnival Corp.

HAL is own by gasped again Carnival. Wow what great European lines.

I will enjoy my lack of wrap around promenade deck, the canned music in the theatre, the canned pineapple on the buffet, and of course my not too crispy bacon each morning.

Just for the simple reason, I won't be running into any Anti MSC nay sayers on board.

I'm just happy that I'm going cruisin for a week

    Agree!!!!! And love your post!

  10. MSC is trying hard to lure American Cruisers with their awesome rates. I have never sailed MSC - but looking forward to trying them next month on the Divina. Reports recently from fellow TA's are really good - can't wait to find out for myself! Don't expect these amazing rates to last forever - they just want folks to give them a chance

  11. Oh Cruiseguy, how I wish we were sailing with you! You sound like so much fun!!! Alas, we are on the March 22 sailing, but are so looking forward to sailing on this beautiful ship. We've sailed just about all of the other main cruiselines, with the exception of Disney and NCL, and are so excited to experience the Divina!

I will be sure to post a review as soon as I return - I always do. We have purchased several of the drink vouchers and will report back how that works.

We have been to Europe nearly every year since 1998, mostly independent land trips but also a TA and a Med cruise, and we're so excited to experience a little bit of that again on this ship. We LOVE the long, slow meals, the service that doesn't "hover" or intrude, the classical music, the gelato, the abundance of different languages, the pasta courses - in short, the civility.

We have 3 others cruising with us - my brother, who has to cruise solo and is over the moon about the terrific solo fare he got, and our best friends of 50 years on just their 2nd cruise.

It will be interesting to see how each of us views this new cruiseline to the US.

Let's just say I'm optimistic and full of anticipation. As I've always said, some of the happiest moments of my life are those when I'm walking onto a cruise ship!

Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

  12. Can any one tell me what is the easiest way and the approximate cost of getting from Fort Lauderdale airport to the cruise port. I know MSC has a transfer for $30 per person each way?

My daughter & son-in-law took a private car service for $69 / picked them up at their hotel in Hollywood and delivered them to their ship at POM - I can give you the name of the company if you want. ( that was two weeks ago - they were pleased with the service )

  13. Whooooo Hooooo! DIVINA!

    The Divina Is SO Gorgeous!

In Six Weeks She Is All Mine!

I Can't Wait To Set Sail On Her!

    Gonna Make Her Shine!

Three Cheers To All Who Labor!

And To All Who Tow The Line!

God Bless All Those Who Make Her!

    The Goddess Of Divine!

    Divina, She's Where IT's AT!

    Divina Has The Style!

When It Come To Being Happy!

All She Brings US Is A Smile!

    Pay Attention All My Lovelies!

    The Divina Is Tre Chic!

If You Want To Have A Blast!

Come Sail With Me in Our Week!

    So Don't Be Upset!

    Don't Be Alarmed!

    Cruising is All That Matters!

And The MSC Divina Holds The Charm!

    GOOOOOOOOOO DIVINA!

Love it!!!! Agree - where 's that like button when you need it ! Thanks for the big smile this morning.....guess that makes you a cheerleader! :-) Go Team MSC

  14. We're heading for Miami Friday, and cruise on Divina Saturday. This thread has held my interest since the beginning. I don't expect it to be HAL, Royal, Cunard, Princess, P&O, Carnival, NCL or any of the dozen lines I have cruised on in the last 40 years. The ports will be the same as most every Western Caribbean cruise. Trying MSC will be a new adventure, and I plan to make the most of it. Doug

Hope you have an excellent adventure - we look forward to your thoughts when you return.

April 12th will be our first cruise with MSC - we too are excited to try out the Divina.:D

  15. I understand you want to get a loyal following in the North American market, and you want to offer a new experience to this market, but come on, you can't offer up some cheese and crackers, etc., it doesn't have to be fancy, but it should show you care, cause offering nothing shows you 'don't' care!

    Dear MSC,

So glad you monitor the CC Boards - many loyal cruisers here. I have to agree with Russian Bear....doing a little something extra for a meet & Greet for CC members will go a long way in positive feelings....just something to acknowledge loyal cruisers who are also into social media.....I've been to many on many lines - it just leaves a positive impression that you care enough to acknowledge the group - a few beverages and apps as well as a visit from one or more staff would really cost little - yet go a long way :D
