  1. We cruised carnival about 10 years ago....I remember the ice tea being awful. Is that the case here? I don't drink soda, am diabetic so juices are out. If it's bad I will bring a few tea bags....

I don't drink caffeine, so I can't comment on the tea, but they have a wide variety of tea bags available. Several days I brewed my own and pored it over ice and it was delicious!

  2. I did the same thing (reading reviews and worrying) before our cruise in December. We had a wonderful time. The ship is smaller, but it was amazing to me how we saw the same people over and over and over. We LOVED the cruise director! I never understood people's interest in who the cruise director was, until this trip. We had fantastic service everywhere. I was sailing with a broken foot and first day on board I had crew offer to help me with carrying food and drinks! After all of the negative I think it made the positive even better. We didn't even mind the beds! :) Have fun on your trip!!

  3. We used them in December. I would use them again. We arrived at 9:30, were pointed to our spot, which was in the grass/weeds, and had help with our luggage to board the shuttle. It took about 2 minutes. Getting a shuttle after our cruise took 20-30 minutes. Longer than we were told to expect. Overall we were very pleased and liked the price! If I had a new car I might hesitate to park in the weeds and elements, but I like to cruise more than drive new cars. 😊

  4. Thanks for your response. Can you explain how you got a deal you couldn't pass up? And what they offered? Also, are you diamond or any special status? I am lowly gold.

Status had nothing to do with it. We were sitting in the centrum/R Bar area, which is where the Chef's Table diners meet. When we were asked if we were there for Chefs Table and said no, we were offered 20% off of the unadvertised $65 price to join them that evening. We had another reservation and couldn't, but still had the 20% off for the night that we did go.

  5. I ate at the chef's table on the Vision earlier this month. We had the menu first posted in this link, but someone had been before and had the menu you just posted. We were told they have an A and B menu. It wasn't a popular thing to do on our cruise, they held it 2 evenings. My advice would be to wait until you are onboard and ask about the menu. We weren't going to go, but ended up getting a deal we couldn't pass up. It was a lovely evening and hopefully Maxi will still be there!

  6. Thanks for the review. I'm sailing Vision for NYE & really looking forward to it. I'm a big fan of Schooners & the piano bar... Do you know who the piano player is and if he/she is fun???

Previous cruisers said he was great, we did not care for him. We spent the first evening in the schooner bar and he tells stories about the songs, musicians, etc. The first couple were interesting, then it got old. We never went back. Check it out, you may like it! There are plenty of music venues and we loved the Vision!

  7. I've sailed the JOS several times and just returned from her approx 2 weeks ago....While I enjoyed the SeaView Cafe (always do) the ship was looking a bit tired (worn cabin furniture, chipped paint on balcony furniture & some cabins with the old box TV's)..However I'll be sailing again on her Sept 2015..these things still won't bother me..but would it be nice if she happens to be refurbished before that...Yes.. JMHO...I'll still be enjoying a much appreciated return of RCI to the west coast :)

I wondered about that too. :( We aren't going until October 2015. I don't have to worry about the balcony furniture because we will be inside. I am going to enjoy either way!
