This rule doesn't apply for the promotional offering. Sailing with my mom (on a casino certificate) and husband. Mom doesn't drink, but because she is the first passenger on the reservation, the package isn't transferable to my husband. So we will likely have to buy a package for him as we won't be with her all the time to have her get the drinks. We are hoping we can convince them the transfer it to him once we board.

Great to hear it is possible. :)

On the Breakaway last year, I signed into the ship internet, and used my Vonage app - outside of the ship internet fees, the app and calls were free and although delayed a second or two, the call quality was very good.

It may be tough. From what I understand, unless you're an officer/entertainer, you don't have passenger deck privileges.

We have a 4:00pm flight out of Miami in March. Does any one know how early we can check in our luggage and take a cab somewhere to kill some time?
Most airline it is three hours before. May be a government thing.

I recommend giving the Chimay a try. It is my favorite beer in the whole world and availability is limited. It will cost $5 more, but once you taste the smooth yet complex brew, I am sure you will agree that it was worth it.
It is served in a 750ml (standard wine bottle size) bottle, so you can enjoy it with a friend.
I love Chimay, very well versed in that one. And I will have to drink it solo....my husband has celiac and can not drink beer.

I love Julie. I think she has just the right amount of involvement on board. She's not over the top, but she's not non existent either. She's been the CD while I was on the Pearl and the Breakaway. I did meet her and chat with her briefly, and she seems like a genuinely nice person.
I was also a fan of Matt Baker! Wiki wiki wah!
Agree with this. She was on my first NCL cruise on the Breakaway. Thoroughly enjoyed her - her presence around the ship, ALWAYS said hello in passing, approachable, but not too over the top for me. She was a good "face" for the company. Can't wait to cruise on the Escape with her as the CD in April.

I a sorry for your experience. I would also write to the port officials and maybe the embassy. While NCL may be able to help with an investigation, the port officials (Not NCL employees) ultimately decide on whether a person can board or not.
Maybe with the original expiration and extension it wouldn't cover them re-entering the US when the ship returned?

By the way, I think the prices have gone up since I took those pictures.
I'm sure. LOL Good thing we have the UBP as a promotion....lots of choices, and we can always pay the difference for the >$15 selections.
-
That actually looks like a pretty respectable cross section. A little something for everyone. Cool.. Now they just need to roll that list out fleetwide.
It does - the cans and bottle selection definitely the best I've ever seen on a cruise. Can't wait.

Thanks for the quick reply! Some craft at least. You beat me to it - thanks for the lists!!!!!!

Does anyone happen to have pictures of the beer lists in the District Brew House? I am a craft beer lover and I am SO excited for this venue on a cruise ship. It is very rare to find craft been on a cruise ship.
-
Any chance you have a picture of the beer menu of what they were serving in the district brew house? I know. Far fetched. LOL

I sailed with my mom last March during Canadian Spring Break. 1800+ kids on board. No major issues, but sea days (and really only one was a pool day - we left in a snow storm) the pool area was pretty full. Other than that, most were very well behaved and we didn't feel too packed in.

Thank you so much for the compliments! We are really happy that we pre-purchased our spa passes. The thermal suite really enhanced our enjoyment of the cruise.
The Thalasso Therapy Pool is about 4 feet. They have 15-20 heated loungers, I did not really count but they are very popular.
If you can't find a heated lounger and some are empty but occupied by a towel you can inform one of the staff. Someone told me that they saw the staff removing towels from the heated loungers so people can actually use them.
I hope this helps.
What is in the therapy pool? Just curious.

Thanks for the awesome review. We are sailing on the Escape at the end of April.
One question - with the UBP - are ALL bars included such as Margaritaville, etc?
Thanks for the insight - we're very excited.

Do you have to buy a weekly spa pass or can you buy daily?
-
We have sailed on Breakaway twice. Most recently last week. While you notice the smoke by the casino and the cigar bar by Maltings, we did not notice it any where else that it would cause a problem. Especially not in the specialty restaurants, even La Cuccina, which is across the hall from Maltings.
Were there any covered pool areas - such as the Vibe area? We are sailing Sunday and want to get the most use of the pools. Not sure if we should buy the passes for the week.
-
Thanks for the amazing review. We are sailing next Sunday! Can't wait. You've got me so excited now.

Vibe is an adults only area on deck 17. You pay $79 per person for the week and only a limited number of passes are sold. You are issued a pink wrist band that you are supposed to wear (I made mine large enough to slide on and off and my husband kept his in his pocket) and they program your key card to open the door access it.
From Norwegian's Web Site:
"Guests will jump for quiet joy upon discovering this private retreat where they can connect with ocean – and disconnect from everything else. Exclusively for those 18 and over, Vibe Beach Club is resplendent with ocean views, an oversized hot tub, chaise loungers and a relaxing water feature – ideal for drowning out every last bit of stress. A full-service bar, water spritzers, chilled towels and skewers of fruit ease you even more into serenity. A limited number of passes will be available for purchase onboard at the Guest Service Desk. "
Is it covered? Cruising next Sunday. Brrrrrrrr. Looking for good options on our sea days when it will be chilly. Do you go to Vibe to get the passes?

Sounds like you need a handicap room.
It's probably too late to change rooms anyways. And at $255 for the week for the scooter - my mom will make do - it will be very slow - but she will be OK she says.
-
New to NCL (we've done Princess seven times, Disney, RC, and Carnival once).
How much for a day pass to use the spa - hot tubs, loungers, etc?
Also, I want to get a scooter for my mother who is traveling with me. We are in a mid ship balcony. Will it fit in the cabin with room to move around it?

Great review. Thanks. Sailing the Escape in 9 days! Can't wait.
