  1. Check out this board re: Ways to save money http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=71 Hope it is helpful to you!
  2. Please do not ask strangers on a chat board about the safety of orescribing medications to a child ( or adult). Only your health care practitioner is qualified to make that decision. I am an RN - suggest that you call you pediatrician for a recommendation.
  3. We bought ours from the company running the day tour that we took. It worked well and did not turn white. We did have to rub it in when applying. Fairly easy to find in Mexico since so many natural areas require it. We swam in Cenotes and with sea turtles and were glad it was safe for the sealife. Also found on Amazon by searching for biodegradable sunscreen.
  4. Welcome to Cruise Critic. You should post your question on your cruise Roll Call. The Roll Call for your cruise is at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1874975 Please review Community Guidelines re: use of Roll Calls. This is the place to post questions related to your particular cruise and the best place to find others sailing with you who might wish to join you on a tour.
  5. If you really want to leave Cruise Critic, you can email help@cruisecritic.com and indicate your desire. You might also click on User CP at the top of the screen and unsubscribe from boards, newsletters, etc. that you might have subscribed to. User CP is where you control how you participate on the boards. Participation should be fun...not an annoyance, so only you can determine what meets your needs at this time. Do let me know if I can be of further assistance.

If you are looking for an "anything goes" setting, Cruise Critic might not be the place for you. Understand, too, that our community is comprised of folks who LOVE to cruise. It therefore stands to reason that they will have a favorite cruise line or port of call -- in other words, they are "fans" and will sometimes take offense when a brand new member has arrived on the scene to bash a cruise line. Keep in mind that we do not prescreen posts so there may be a period of time when an inappropriate post is visible. 7. Let me add my welcome to CC and suggest that the best way to increase your proficiency with the boards is to read the Community Guidelines that you received when you registered and retread when you are unsure of the guidelines for particular topics. You might also want to go to the first time cruisers forum and read the Q& A posted by others new to the boards. Of course, your questions are welcome here and on the Forum dedicated to your cruise line. Lots of experienced cruisers are very helpful with specific questions. Enjoy!
  8. Welcome to Cruise Critic. I agree that checking for a Roll Call thread (or starting one) is a great idea. I have done a River Cruise and found it useful to read old posts for the cruise line (and cruise) that you are booking. However, don't be discouraged if there isn't a thread. Since the number of people booking a river cruise is very small (as compared to an ocean cruise ship) and still a smaller number use Cruise Critic, you may not find the specific cruise that you are looking for. However, you can get good information about River Cruising and, perhaps from other similar cruises (with your line or others). Just ask your questions and you'll find that Cruise Critic members are helpful and provide good info. Good luck! You'll love river cruising!
  9. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Click on the link provided in message 3 and then on thread starter. Enter your sail date in your title and you may hear from others sailing with you as you get closer to your sail date. Please review the guidelines sent to you when you registered to better understand how to get the most out of your membership. Good luck and have a great cruise
  10. Welcome to Cruise Critic! Please review the Guidelines that you received when you registered. You'll see that the Roll Call section is the place to locate your cruise (by cruiseline, ship and date) to meet others cruising with you you and to arrange to share excursions. It's a wonderful part of Cruise Critic and a good place to made friends prior to sailing. Hope you enjoy your cruise!
  11. Welcome to Cruise Critic where you can find great information about cruising. However, it is important for you to read and follow the Community Guidelines which you received when you registered. Asking for or sharing information regarding travel agencies is not allowed and is a violation of the guidelines. You might want to read comments on the first time cruisers forum. Enjoy your cruise!
  12. We booked a 1:25 pm flight for our August return just to be on the safe side (e.g., traffic to airport, late arrival of ship, etc.) Would rather relax at the airport than be stressed before a long flight. Hope you have a wonderful cruise. We'll be doing the same one end of July
  13. You don't need to do anything but click on the link in post #4 here and start posting your questions. You will be on the Roll Call for your ship/date - no registration required for the roll call.
  14. Be sure to consider interactions or conflicts with any routine medications that you are taking. Always consult your physician for suggestions. Re: scopolamine patches...be sure you are aware of some potential serious side effects. We find that Bonine (meclazine) works well for us. On another note, crew members turned us on to eating green apples for seasickness and it works! Ginger ale is good for queaziness and ginger capsules worked for us as well.
