  1. Maybe dumb questions but I have to ask. If I place my android phone in airplane mode, turn wifi back on and make certain that wifi calling in on, then I should be able to make and receive calls at no added cost... correct? (We have purchased the wifi package.)

Does airplane mode disable standard SMS incoming and outgoing texts? Don't want incoming texts to run up a surprise bill.

My sailing was to depart on 10-17-20 for 5 night cruise with 2 days at kings wharf.   I received official cancellation email from RCL this morning around 9:00 am for my sailing on Adventure OTS.    States all sailings to bermuda up to 10/31/20 are cancelled.    So I am sure your sailing is also cancelled.

Are the official cancellation emails coming from RCCL or a travel agent?

  3. Don't see this posted anywhere yet. Posted last night on FB. We're there on the 21st. so who knows if it will be fully open.

Due to extended periods of heavy and steady rain over the past several weeks, the Denali National Park & Preserve Road will be closed to public vehicle access at mile 30 (Teklanika Rest Stop) beginning 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019. This closure includes park transit and tour buses.

Since August 1, vehicle traffic on the Park Road has been periodically disrupted by rock falls and debris slides beyond mile 30. The extended heavy and steady rains have continued to saturate the road surface and surrounding soils, increasing the potential for landslides, debris flows, and associated safety risks. Weather forecasts indicate that this precipitation pattern is likely continue into the near future and could prolong the situation.

During this time, the park will assess the road conditions and make determinations about the extent of the closure. Additional information will be released as decisions affecting the status of the Park Road are made.

For additional information, please call 907-683-9532 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

I've noticed often posting directly an image (direct upload) on CC, that my images look much softer than when on the screen edited to the size correct for the forum. Seems to work a bit better simply using a hosting service and just using an image link instead.

Unfortunately, I've lost access to my Flickr account. Trying to get it resolved but no luck yet.

Just let the baggage handlers in Anchorage know which ship you're on and your luggage will be trucked to Seward and delivered to your cabin.

(for others not taking the train, the boat tour companies will store luggage )

    Great! ........and thanks!

  6. We will be arriving in Seward by train around 11am after a DIY ground tour. Rather than immediately board the ship, we chose to do an afternoon cruise around Resurrection Bay with Kenai Fjords Tours. My concern is what do we do with luggage for 4 during that time?

I thought I read that you could check your luggage through to the ship upon boarding the train in Anchorage but haven't been able to find that info again. I know the railroad does not offer storage at the station. Is there maybe a transfer service available? Can someone share their luggage experience?

Images look bit soft, but probably expected for what I've read for Kinko on such a lens, enjoy the reach.

At least it works. You had me worried with your comment.

I had a choice between spending less than $200 or around $1,000 to cover the chance that I "might" need the 600mm range on the AK trip. To avoid any marital disagreements, I chose the Kenko. :classic_biggrin:

The Kenko converter works great with the 70-300.....except for the autofocus. But I knew that going in. Here's a couple of shots at 300mm without and with the converter.

    Here's the shot at 70mm.

Have you tried your 2x converter, I'm suspicious it works with the 70-300 and remember it slows the effective aperture by two stops, the 70-300 is a very slow lens and at 300 will be beyond diffraction if it works at all, good luck.

If you have two bodies need two lenses, but if you only have one body 18-200 is the only one.  You'll never find a need for the slow 18-55 original mid-range.   If you have a 10-24 that would be worth bringing for the scenic/expansive shots

Thanks a lot guys...now you've got me shopping for a wide angle zoom! :-)

    Master.

You filled up 5 64g cards.  How many hours of video was that.  Did you use it all?

I purchased a new carbon fiber tripod that also has a mono pod you can make outta one of the tripod legs.

That sounds like the tripod I bought for the trip.

I personally wouldn't bother with the 35mm fixed - that's covered by the short zoom. Versatility is the keyword - your other choices should give you excellent coverage.

Thanks. The only reason I considered taking the fixed lens is it's much faster than the others.
