  1. By the time they cool it will be time to leave the ship. Get the room steward to fill your champagne container with every day and put the wine in before you go off ship for the day. Tip of course.

Thank you. Great suggestion. However, I would still like the option of putting a bottle of wine in the fridge but your suggestion is a good one. Thanks:)

  2. The POA uses Pier/Berth #2 just off the Starboard side at the entrance to the

Port of Honolulu. The ALOHA TOWER will be visible off the Port Side Bow of the

POA about a 1/3rd of mile away.

The POA does not dock at the Aloha Tower !

Pier/Berth #2 is where the Cruise Terminal is.

Taxis and other shuttles are available to get to and from the airport -

Fares range from $15 up --- for the 6 mile trip taking a minimum of

10 minutes or Aloha's finest rush hour nightmare YMMV.

You can do this - just cut yourself some slack - most everything operates on

Aloha Time - the faster you want to go - the slower it gets - Relax this is Paradise !

Your post is very informative. Are you saying the taxi fare is $15 and up or does that include other shuttles too? NCL wants $25/pp for the transfer...on a buts. So that would be $100 for us total (both ways). I'm not sure what to do. The $100 is fine with me but husband is always the bargain hunter so depending on the taxi fare he would probably prefer to go that way.

  3. I recall that the port area in Kona was attractive and the others were not terrible (using Nassau as a benchmark, lol) but they were also nothing to write home about. They were industrial or urban (in the case of Honolulu). We have friends who were VERY disappointed in Hawaii and it puzzled me until I learned that they never ventured beyond the port area because they didn't want to spend the money to rent cars or do any research on what was where. Waste of money to travel like that I'm sure you agree!!!

We are renting a car in every port but it's nice to come back in the late afternoon and relax a couple hours before dinner and a balcony with a view makes it worthwhile :-)

  4. Probably depends on where your cabin is and how the ship is docked. I remember the views being pretty nice despite the industrial ports, but honestly, we were off the ship in a flash to see Hawaii and we did not return until either exhaustion set in or to prevent being left behind.:).

This is one cruise where you do not want to stay on board. Not that the ship is bad, but each island is so different, and so spectacular, it would be a shame to miss it to sit on a balcony, except for morning coffee or a night cap;).

Definitely, that's what we plan on doing. We cruise to do but it would be nice to have a nice view if we want to spend a couple hours out on the balcony to relax...just wondering.

  5. We will be sailing Pride of America in September. (We normally sail Celebrity). We like a cup of coffee as soon as we get up in the morning. Do we have to pay for room service for a cup of coffee brought to our room at 7:00 am?

  6. Just booked a crusie on Pride of America around Hawaii. We don't normally cruise NCL but chose this cruise because the other lines don't offer it.

Just another reason I will not cruise NCL again after this upcoming cruise. Love to order a pot of coffee for when I first jump out of bed...guess not on this upcoming cruise. I'll just traipse down to the buffet with pj's on, hair askew and teeth unbrushed to bring a couple cups of coffee back to the room:D

  7. This is for all you regular Norwegian cruisers.

I've never sailed Norwegian before but am interested in the Pride of America cruise around Hawaii for 2015. When I go to their website and select the cruise I want there does not appear to be an option to put in a particular cabin number to see if it's available. That's the only way I will cruise is if I can pick my state room.....not just the general area.

Can someone tell me how to do that. I don't want to call. I prefer to make my reservations online.

    Thank you.

  8. SHIP: Silhouette

    CABIN #: 7236

    DECK #: 7

    CLASS: 2A

    AREA: mid ship, starboard

    BED NEAR: bathroom

QUIET?: Very quiet except in the early morning we could hear people in the cabin direcetly above us moving chairs around on their balcony.

BALCONY VIEW: The top of the life boat was in our line of sight even while sitting toward the back of the balcony. The view straight out was clear but the view of the life boat top was still annoying to us.

    BALCONY SIZE: Average

WIND A PROBLEM?: No problem with wind.

SOOT A PROBLEM?: No problem with soot.

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Loved being near the Hideaway.
