Hello again JollyJones
Thank you for the updates - it has been very informative.
Do you happen to know who will replacing Captain Arma when he leaves the ship?
We had booked the Island resort tour in Samana, but now I am having second thoughts!
-
Thank you JollyJones for the informative update.
We are looking forward to returning to the Wind next month.
Do you know who the CD will be - Colin perhaps?
Who was the Captain?
Enjoy the rest of the cruise - I would interested to hear about Samana as that's on our itinerary as well.
-
Please could you also advise who the Cruise Director, Maitre'd and Captain are as well
Thank you

Each guest had one hour free internet per day. I cannot recall the price of the other options, except that the premium rate per day was $39. Access to the internet via the computers in the internet room, was free and unlimited.
I am sure that you will love the Wind.

The 10 day cruise on the Wind from Barcelona to Monte Carlo, was brilliant. The food was exceptionally good, particularly in La Terrazza and the personal service was up to the usual Silversea standards. The CD, Colin Brown, made Trivia huge fun and the entertainment that was provided by the group of talented young singers, was very enjoyable. However, the highlight was a visiting orchestra who came aboard to perform, whilst overnighting in Livorno.
The weather was very kind to us, so we were able to enjoy the itinerary around the Balearics and the Italian islands.
Our trip to Lucca from Livorno was memorable - what beautiful place.
The internet package is acceptable as long as you make sure that you have logged off successfully.
Thank you Silversea for a great cruise.

We are just off the Wind and slimline/low-calorie tonic was widely available.
However, I wish they stocked Fever Tree Natural Tonic, which is now very popular and delicious .
The cruise was simply wonderful

Thanks everyone - appreciated the advice, as I am keen to get the airport as quickly as possible, to allow for any delays going through security, which are all over the media at the moment.
-
Has anyone used the helicopter transfer from Monte Carlo to Nice airport?
If so, how did the timings work out after disembarkation - check in time and distance to the heliport?
Thanks
-
Thanks Master Echo - that was most helpful
Best wishes

The Muse sounds really appealing but can someone advise whether the only alternative to seafood in the Atlantide is steak, or do they offer other meat dishes and non-seafood starters?
Many thanks

I would really appreciate similar advice for St Martin/Maarten.
Our Liat flight leaves at 4.45. Would it be worth booking a day room or somewhere for a lazy lunch close to the airport? Recommendations?
Just over a month to go - can't wait!

I agree with Duct Tape, the wine country is superb in all respects and well worth visiting.
Not only is the scenery stunning and the ambiance of the wineries beautifiul, but the wine is excellent, as well.
I would recommend taking a driver and as a frequent visitor to Cape Town from the UK, these are some of my favourite wineries
In the Stellenbosch area:-
Waterford, http://www.waterfordestate.co.za
Tokara, http://www.tokara.co.za
Rustenberg http://www.rustenberg.co.za
Thelema, http://www.thelema.co.za/range/thelema
Hidden Valley - great for lunch with a superb view http://www.hiddenvalley.co.za
On the way to Franschoek:- Boschendal - go for their classic picnic as another option for lunch.

Franschoek:- Le Petit Ferme - another lunch recommendation with a wonderful view.http://www.lapetiteferme.co.za
Somerset West:- Vergellen http://www.vergelegen.co.za - another good lunch venue.
You might be advised to book ahead as they can get busy in season.
We are boarding the Cloud on the 22nd of Feb, so reports from the earlier cruises will be most welcome.

I am fully in agreement with Mayflower 1
The one constant in our 10 Silversea sailings has been the warm welcome from the staff and the continued friendly and helpful service.
I am really looking forward to my next cruise in the Spring and have had no hesitation recommending Silversea to my friends and acquaintances and none of those who have subsequently sailed with Silversea, have been disappointed.

Having joined Seadream 1 in Athens, my wife and I enjoyed a truly wonderful cruise to Venice. This time we were joined by my son and his wife, who are now sold on Seadream as well.
The itinerary was stunning as was the food and service. But the outstanding thing for me was the staff - nothing was too much trouble and we had great fun interacting with them.
Well done to Ennis, the Hotel Director, he led his team with aplomb and professionalism.
We shall be back.
-
Hi Duct Tape,
Is Martin the Hotel Director at the moment?
If so, please say Hi from his Guernsey friends.
Enjoy your cruise
Best wishes

Yes they do, but not over generous in the sizing!
Just returned from a wonderful cruise on SD1 around the Virgin Islands.
The weather was perfect and the swimming platform was in use every day. The crew made our time on board huge fun and gave us professional and friendly service under the supervision of Pierre and Ennis - is that how his name is spelt?
Fellow passengers were great company and we found the destinations were beautiful, particularly the BVIs. The 'Baths' walk in Virgin Gorda was the highlight - not to be missed!
Sorry to report that Garreth left after the cruise for a well earned rest.
As reported by Courtesefam, the food was exceptional and we ate out on deck on most nights. The only, albeit small, disappointment was that the complimentary wines did not include anything from Australia, South Africa or New Zealand - particularly no New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, a favourite of ours.
It was our first SD cruise and we will be back - for sure!
-
POPPER
Like Cortesefam, my wife and I are also sailing on SD1 on the 17th of Jan and it is our first cruise on Seadream.
Any tips, pics and info would be most welcome.
Islands in common - Saba, St Barts and Virgin Gorda

I agree that they were great - talented and very personable.
Who will be replacing them?
-
Cruisinpashmina
I did exactly the same earlier today and I totally agree - what an amazing story!
I look forward to meeting him.
-
Thank you my Lord,
Is Colin Brown back on board? He disembarked when we did but I think it was only for a temporary break. Please say Hi to him as well - just mention the answer to his trivia question about Scarlet Fever and watch him start to laugh
Enjoy your cruise

My Lord,
I will help as far as I can.
The Captain was the charismatic Michele Macarone Palmieri, now resplendent with a neat nautical beard. The HD was Helmut Huber and the Maitre D was Antonio.
As far as I remember the 'always available' menu was pretty standard - I really had no cause to examine the left hand side of the menu throughout the cruise.
Please say Hi to Nikki in the bar - she is married to the bar tender and is great fun. She will remember me as the Brit who always asked for Calvados with ice after dinner. Another character was Ace - a waiter with a huge sense of humour. Tell him I was the Tiki man - Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.
I hope you enjoy the cruise as much as we did.

As it was our first visit, we took the walking tour around the old town, which we found very interesting and illuminating. Other guests went further afield and came back stimulated by the wonderful scenery. It was a very hot day, so we decided that the climb up to the little church and the castle, behind the old town, was many steps too far! Maybe it will be cooler when you visit and I am sure that the view must be worth the climb.
The scenery inbound to the port is simply stunning.
We were under the impression that US Health regulations meant they could no longer hold the BBQ. Maybe we were misinformed??

Hello
i am interested to know where you boarded in Venice as larger cruise ships have now been banned from entering.
Also are there any British guests. If so did they have to quarantine on entering Italy?
