  1. Hi Fellow Cruisers and Nexus Card Holders,

Could you all please stop mentioning how great the Nexus card is and how much it facilitates your travels to the states. I'm already noticing longer lines at the Nexus lanes at the border.

Can we just keep this our little secret??

    Much appreciated,

    HTP

You are so right! I have noticed this too. So, yes, let's keep under wraps. Shh.

  2. "What may be problematic is whether any of your ports of call are familiar with it, or recognize it. Also, you cannot board a Canadian plane without a passport. So, if you plan on flying from Ottawa to the US, or getting off at every port of call, a passport is s good backup."

I use my Nexus card whenever I fly anywhere in USA and use it whenever I come back to Canada from anywhere. Very useful to have and inexpensive.

  3. I believe that has always been the policy, free beverage package perks are not offered for TAs. Probably too much opportunity to drink, with all those sea days.

Last November, they offered the 123GO on our TA on the Reflection. We do many TAs at that was the first and perhaps the last that it was offered.

  4. Our credit card provides cancellation insurance. There are a few credit cards that do.

They also provide travel health insurance' date=' but only until age 65.

Now we get travel health on a yearly basis. I think we used Universal last year. This year we are using a Quebec company. If anyone is really interested, I can look for the names.

I chose 24 day maximums because we don't travel for longer than that at any given time.[/quote']

    Hi:)

I am very interested to know the name of the Quebec company that you are using.

  5. I agree with most of what you said, and thank you for the anniversary wishes, and yes - it is a milestone.

What I don't agree with, is that I wanted something special, I should pay for it.

    Nothing "special" was offered.

We didn't ask if they did anything, the TA offered the recognition.

Sorry, I have to disagree - they did drop the ball.

If it is not a guarantee, why do the TA's ask/offer ?

Life is too short, and eventually I will get past it - someday...

    Hi:)

I really think you should get back to your TA and relate this unpleasant experience.

  6. My favorite cruise is a Transatlantic one. But sadly, there are no specials to entice one to book one. The new 1,2,3 Go offers are not applicable to TAs. Now, I understand why the beverage package is not offered...Too many sea days to take advantage of such a package. But, why can't they offer the other 2...paid gratuities or an onboard credit

  7. Did anyone else get an email like this and have you taken advantage of it?

" I'm inviting you to take advantage of an offer on our 2015 vacations. When you book by May 31, 2014, you can receive up to $400* to spend on board. And, you can combine this offer with another future offer of your choice for an even greater value. So, now is the perfect time to plan your 2015 vacation"

  8. From a New York paper:

"Airline passengers might notice something missing in their vodka tonics or diet cokes: the lime. A recent shortage and spike in the price has caused some airlines-for now-to stop offering the fruit in their beverage service..."

  9. I am confused. In the deck plans it seems that the first angled hump balcony cabin is the 8230. But I also found another plan (on another site) where the 8232 is the first one with a larger balcony. Can someone tell me which one it is? Thank you so much!

They are usually the first and third balconies on the hump. So no, #8232 is not larger. In the area that you're looking at, it would be #8230 and #8226. Similarly, on the other slant hump cabins. Hope that helps.

  10. any more than 8 you will not be able to talk to people at the end unless

you are smack dab in the middle/ go for nor more than 8

As a couple we loved a table of ten. We got to talk and have conversations with everyone. The trick is to not have sit in the same seats every night. That way you are never stuck in the middle every night.

  11. You can't compare travel insurance with home owners or auto. With auto or home owners, you have a liability issue to worry about. If an outsider gets injured, they could sue you for everything you have. As a traveler, you are the only issue in play. It could be expensive but not a life changing event, at least not for me.

I do have home owners and auto insurance but not travelers. I'm willing to roll the dice.

Well, good for you that you've never had a medical issue! I hope that you go through life without any medical life changing event.
