  1. Elsie, I know you will have a wonderful time on the Mediterranea! Your grandsons will love Captain Zoom. Bon Voyage....ciao, ciao, ciao Erica:D
  2. I boarded the Costa Mediterranea with high expectations. Being my first cruise, I was not sure if I would like it. From the moment I boarded until the moment I disembarked, the ship and staff far exceeded anything I could have hoped for. Our cabin steward Frederick was always available for any little thing that we could have possibly needed or wanted. Our waiters Arnel and Dave were the most personable and accomodating waiters we have ever had. They always anticipated when we wanted a particular drink or course before we even realized we wanted it! Steve and Gareth, two young men who ran most of the activities on the ship, did a great job of involving the crowd. Some of the shows I thought catered more to an older crowd (I am only 25), however, I thought the show with the twins was the best show on board! I was extremely dissapointed that they only gave one performance. I traveled with a group of seven other people (ages 30-82) and they all favored the twins's show as well. I considered the boat to be extremely beautiful, classy, and well-maintained. I celebrated my birthday the second day of our cruise, we were at sea until 5:00 p.m. when we arrived in Puerto Rico. At breakfast in the dining room, I had about 14 waiters come over and sing Happy Birthday to me in English and Italian. Boy, did I feel like a princess! Later on the pool deck, the staff played a cd my parents brought that they have played every year on my birthday. It is called Captain Zoom. If you have any children or grandchildren, I recommend googling this and purchasing it. It is something they will treasure forever! (After all, here I am, 25 years old, and I made my parents bring it on the cruise with us!) I was a little bit dissapointed in the tour of the Bacardi Factory in Puerto Rico. First you watch a little video, and then they walk you through three small rooms to conclude the tour. In St. Thomas, we went snorkeling and were able to see some amazing fish. Santa Domingo looked beautiful from the ship, however, I did not get off there. The Grand Turks was my favorite port. The water was this incredible turquoise... like nothing I had ever seen or new existed! This was also my favorite excursion. We went snorkeling and got to hold sting rays. The snorkeling part was a lot of fun, we saw a few sting rays and barracudas but not many fish. Which was okay. The second half, you go to shore and sting rays are there swimming between your legs, you can feed them, pet them, and hold them if you want! It was great. I would definately travel with Costa again. I would even like to cruise on the Mediterranea again just so I can see some of the staff again.
