They merged systems with RCCL almost a year ago.  Your username is now your email address, so if you're using your old username, that won't work.  If that doesn't help, you're going to have to call them to figure it out.

I don’t even try to put in a user name...it says it is optional.  I’ve also checked my spam emails...nothing there for a reset.

Even if I go in as a guest with just the reservation number I can’t see where to register our personal information.

  2. I have been trying to figure out how to register for our cruise.

We have sailed Celebrity, but it has been a number of years.  I tried resetting my long forgotten password, but I don’t receive a reset email. I tried signing in as new to Celebrity and the site tells me that it already has my email and to instead reset my password.  I then go in as a website guest and put in my reservation number.  It only shows things to buy...but I can’t see where to register our information.

I’m truly lost in space trying to figure out the Celebrity website.

I think Insignia  was the 1st ship  but there was a story long ago here why  it was renamed 😉

or maybe Wiki  has the story

Insignia  has already been "NEXT" ed  for what it is worth

Wiki is where I found the history...but, I am now unsure if it is correct. In the third paragraph it says Marina’s build was announced at the naming ceremony of Nautica, but never came to pass.🤔

I would love to know if Regatta really did start her Oceania life as Insignia and the reason for the name change.

Perhaps because as I recall she was the first ship in the fleet.  My memory is that originally it was supposed to be Insignia that was the first, but then they switched.  I forget why.

Or maybe it's just because they are did the refit on Regatta first??????????  Did they?  I haven't kept track.

Certainly Regatta was the first cruise WE took on Oceania, and her incarnation as Renaissance's R2 was also our first cruise on that line.

    Mura

     You’re right...Regatta was R 2 and Insignia was R 1.

After a google search,  it does appear that Regatta was the first R ship purchased.  Oddly enough, she was first named Insignia.  Then they acquired R1...renamed R2 Regatta and R1 became Insignia.  Is this correct?  And, if it is, for extra O points, does anyone know why they changed R2’s name?

  5. Nautica is the last R for “Next” refurbishment ...June 2020.  Insignia has already been redone. Sirena has a redo in May, Regatta in September.  Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

I don’t know why Regatta would be considered the flagship other than I think it was R1.

The flight has to be paid with that credit card. Carrying it around in your pocket doesn’t count. If you’re on an O Air flight, Oceania paid the carrier by their methodology, regardless of how you may have paid the cruise line.

On UA it definitely has to be paid with the UA card. I checked the rules a few months ago.  With the DL card, it doesn’t matter how the flight was paid.

We went to South America in Feb. - March of this year and Oceania booked the flights. We were on Delta to go to South America--we were able to pick our own seats once we were booked but there were no Premium Economy seats left. We returned on United and were able (to self) upgrade to PE. Delta allowed 2 free checked bags but United only allowed 1.

I didn’t realize United had Premium Economy.  I thought they only had economy plus.

We had 3 every sea day on the Eclipse on a 21 day b2b Canary Island/TA cruise in Oct 2017 and we had 2 a day on a 21 day Caribbean b2b on the Reflection this past January. We also had 3 every sea day when we were on an Alaska cruise on the Solstice a few years ago. But we enjoy lecturers, so we go to them if available.

As far as price goes, yes, $100 pp/day is more than a few $$$. But the itinerary is also key. Now that I've learned that a visit to the Falklands is not on the X itinerary, I've change my vote to HAL.

Falklands is a risk though.  I was on NCL this past year and we had to skip.  I know a Viking ship had to miss also.  That said, one woman who has done the itinerary 13 times was on our cruise and this was the first time she missed the Falklands. Madryn is the least likely port to be missed and has Punta Tombo.

  9. There are significant itinerary differences. I would keep in mind that Arenas and Falklands can be hit or miss depending on weather.  If King penguins are important, Falklands is the only port where you will see them. Madryn is a sure fire penguin port, but only has Magellan penguins.

We booked a private tour of Danang/Hoi An with Xuan so had a very large van take us. Yes, there was a shuttle into Danang, but not to Hue or Hoi An. I don't know what ship tours there were. We loved Hoi An...very quaint and authentic because it wasn't damaged in the war. Ate a delicious lunch there and a mid morning drink on the rooftop of a cafe.

Your pictures of Hoi An brought back wonderful memories from a land trip a few years ago. Thank you sharing, I particularly love the “slice of life” pictures.

An Ohio connection: We stayed 4 nights in Hoi An.  At our hotel, there was a group from an Ohio based Viet Nam Relief fund (D.O.V.E fund) made up of ex Vietnam vets, including nurses that served.  They were an interesting group.  From what I learned,  they select a project each year to fund and then a group returns each year to check progress.

My wife felt the same way after we sailed on Azamara.

But here is my dilemma: all new ships are around 3,000 passengers, sometimes more. If yu want a ~2,000 ship, you need to go with a ship which is 10-15 years old. How X older ships (Summit, Constellation etc.) compare to the new ships? I know they get refurbished every few years, but still.. Don't you "feel" the older design? And I assume somethings cannot be changed. They are also cheaper most of the time.

btw, same dilemma on Princess and HAL.

Oceania ( 2 of their ships) and Viking (entire fleet) have ships under 2000 passengers and under 10 years old.

  12. Do you have the IOS app?  It now has a preload feature.  You would still have to connect for a short time to open the preload.

The preload is beta. If you are IOS there is also a screen record feature, if the preload is buggy. I have gotten through two cruises with some favorite classes prerecorded.  But, it is a pain to record and play through classes while getting ready for a trip.  I just tried the preload feature yesterday, but when I started the class I couldn’t tell if it was playing my preload or the on demand....there was a leaderboard....I would think I would not show up if it was a preload, but don’t really know because the feature is only a couple days old.

Next issue is whether they will allow you to use bikes outside of a class. I had no issues on Oceania.  But, on a two week NCL South America cruise they would not let me use one of the spin bikes, so I had to use a fitness center stationary bike.  Not ideal for spinning, but it works, you just can’t do out of the saddle work.I have also streamed classes in hotels and followed along for pushes on ellipticals and on cruises have used my recorded classes on ellipticals when the traditional stationary bikes are in use.

Do not fully understand you comments - or maybe article has broken updated ‘WOW Air cancels all flight’

I meant that DTW was one of the US airports that WOW was still flying out of when operations ceased.  Last year, WOW had operations in more US airports, but cut those in a cost saving move.

  14. I wonder how many passengers are stranded and how their attempts to find rescue flights home on other airlines is going?  A one way international fare on short notice would be quite costly.

Anyone know now what the track record for the industry is for picking up the pieces in these situations?

    Three died!!!

A safety alert from the USCG was issued after the accident.

“…investigation into the fire has revealed that a fuel line supply flange integral to the engine parted after three bolts completely loosened and the remaining bolt fractured. Other bolts within the engine’s hot box were also found broken. The involved engine was a Wartsila model VASA12V32LNE also referenced as a VASA 32. It is a very common engine with thousands operating in ship and shore side service. "

The fully investigation report has never been released by the Marshall Islands presumably at the cruise lines request.

Obviously, I am very aware that three people died....the contractors doing the work and one crew member.  But, did this cause the fire? Or was it the work being done to repair these issues to the engine that started the fire?

  16. 1 hour ago, PaulMCO said:

That is really not a very thought-out statement.

You could have said same after the Insignia fire, which was likely caused by poor maintenance.

I don’t believe that was the cause of the fire.  Contractors were doing maintenance while the ship was in port to prepare for the first World Cruise.  I was on that ship and no passenger was ever in any danger. Inconvenienced, yes...in danger no.  The Viking ship was close to grounding on rocks in high, frigid seas.  I hate to think what would have happened if the anchor had not held.
