  1. I had the exact same questions (in my mind), as fiftytoo posted.  I've read Tripacain's post (thank you for taking the time to do this), but don't remember seeing answers to the question regarding CD, entertainers, guest lecturers, passenger count etc for the next cruises etc.  Maybe no-one knows the answers to these yet?

Loving following along with your posts Keith.  Brian and I will be on Symphony for a month during February.   Just wondering if this carpaccio was a special order as I can't see it on the menu. Can definitely see mushroom soup which is my favourite from Prego but the carpaccio is one of Brian's favourites and can't have one without the other 🙂 .  Best wishes to you and Anne Marie for a happy and healthy new year. Cheers, Judith

  3. Trying to work out the differences between Classic and Redesigned Aquamarine bathrooms i.e. I thought that the Classic had separate shower and tub and the Redesigned just a shower.  Hard to tell on the computer i am using at the moment from the deck plans.   Can someone please help these old eyes?  Many thanks.

  4. The problem would be markedly decreased if Silversea installed the option for subtitles on the screen.  I use subtitles at home as I am hearing impaired and my husband, who can hear a pin drop on carpet, puts up with seeing the subtitles and keeps the sound down low for himself. I have asked about having the subtitles added to our room while on board and they say they don't have the option available.  Interesting as I have used them in our rooms whilst on board on lines such as Crystal and even on HAL

  5. Could anyone who has previously stayed at a Silversea booked hotel in Southampton, or who might know which hotel they have used in the past or are currently using, would you be kind enough to post the name here please.   Many thanks.

New to SS this Fall.  Why, at Atlantide, were you asked for your suite number?

We were asked for room number at every restaurant.  When I asked why , we were told it was not just to check the photo and know who was sitting where at the table, but also any food allergies came up on everyone's profile. That part in particular makes me think it's a wonderful system.

Curious - obstructed by what? Lifeboats are below deck 7...

The top of the window has the bottom of the lifeboats hanging from deck 8.   No real biggie to speak of.

  9. Travelling with friends and want to make some dining reservations for us.  Is it possible to book say table for 6 when there are just 2 of us on this booking but we plan to have others join?   Is there somewhere to add their names/cabin etc or what is the procedure?

  10. What currency  is used on board?  I presume $US but wondering if it changes for cruises solely in Europe or Australia/NZ etc?   Appreciate your response and very much looking forward to our first SS cruise.

....... they have now decided to ditch all TAs and only accept direct bookings.

Interesting that you say that Daveywavey.   I am a TA in Australia and 'was' one of the top producers for Crystal.  I approached Saga a year or so ago to discuss a group cruise and was told they 'only deal with UK based travel agents'.   Obviously are are no longer on our radar 🙂

  12. Is there music played in the Panorama Lounge pre-dinner and if so around what time does it start?  Is there anywhere I can see where the music venues are and at what times they operate?   Many thanks

Looking at D2D offer round trip CPH but can't get a straight answer out of Silversea as to whether I can fly early to say London and then make my own way to CPH and/or extend at the end and make my own way to another common rated airport to fly home. Trying to find out what constitutes a deviation fee.  I could understand paying a fee if it was some obscure airport or higher airfare but this seems pretty straight forward.  Does anyone have any experience of something similar.   Feeling quite frustrated at conflicting info from them depending on who I speak with.

I'm having the same problem with lack of clarification to seemingly simple queries.   Surely there must be 'rules' as to what we can and can't do with their 'included' air?  Extremely frustrating to the point 'bait and switch' has come to mind several times.

  14. Has anyone experienced La Terrazza as a coeliac?  Just wondering what gluten free options they have on their standard menu without having to special order?   Same query for the other restaurants too actually - do they have a special list for gluten free options?

  15. Looking at Azamara for the first time and wondering about the  disabled cabins with regards the bathroom/shower.  The cabin appears larger on the deckplan too.  Does anyone have any experience with these or any photos which would be wonderful.  Considering the Journey at this time.   Many thanks.

Things may be different in your part of the world, but I think you misunderstand the refund policy. With door to door bookings, there is a 100% cash refund (less administrative fee, see below) for cancellations 151 or more days before embarkation.  It is not a future cruise credit. However, there is a $250 per person administrative fee charged against each cancellation.  This fee can be applied to a future cruise booking.

I too would be very upset if the only refund was in the form of a future cruise credit

Happy to call them back to see if someone else gives me a different response, however I did question it to get clarification and the Silversea rep repeated as I have written above.  25% deposit, not refundable for cash and only FCC up until 150 days before sailing.

  17. I called Silversea earlier this week to ask about a 2024 cruise .  Was told there was a 25% deposit which was 'refundable' with a credit for future cruise  up until 150 days before sailing.  These conditions are totally unacceptable for a cruise over 2 years out on a ship which is not even built yet!   I was looking forward to SS being my new cruise line of choice (I am a Crystal refugee), and have booked for 2023 but unless booking conditions are relaxed for 2024, our existing booking may be our first and last cruise on SS.

Amen! There’s unpacking to be done along with cocktail and dinner prep. 😁

I'm certain I'll agree with you on our second cruise but for the first one, we need to see what Silversea has to offer.  Crystal used to call something similar 'a taste of what's to come' 🙂  but it was done in the main show lounge rather than around the pool.  For some reason the pool area sounds a bit more fun and festive.  Oh, and I promise we won't be missing any cocktail opportunities in the process!

Hi JWH.  Will you be jet lagged when you board?

No, not likely jetlagged but most likely hyped with excitement to be back on a ship again!  Thanks to you and everyone else for your suggestions.  I do like the idea of a 'dog and pony' 🙂 show around the pool.   Sounds like this could be fun for us seeing it for the first time but I imagine would get a bit old for the regulars.  Can't wait.
