  1. We are taking our kids on the Adventure of the Seas in 2016. For us, this cruise is about the locations and not so much the ship. We have been on the Adventure before, but without our kids. They have already been on the Freedom and Allure. I'm looking to get pictures of the Adventure Beach area. I have a feeling it will be too childish for my two (8 and 11). Any insight would be great.

    Thank You

  2. We were just on the Allure and that's the one thing we missed the most. We were at the Beach Pool for all 3 sea days and there was only one day that they had the band out there playing music. We were all disappointed. It's one of the things we love about laying poolside on sea days.... hoping it's just the large ship.

  3. We had that same room on the Allure on 4/20! We LOVED it!!! The first night of the Ocean Aria show, we did not have reservations and were able to catch the end of it from our room when we brought the kids up for bed. It was great to see it from above. On the night that we actually had reservations, we watched it from the aqua theater and I didn't feel like it was any better than from our balcony.

It is a long walk down the hallway but with all of the food we ate during the week, I felt like I needed the extra steps to burn off some calories. We would definitely book that same room again.

  4. We were just in 10729 - very last balcony, starboard side. It was amazing!! We loved it. We felt like we had the best of both worlds - could see the water and also people watch and catch some shows. The long walk down to the end of the hallway was tiresome at times, but I was OK with it because I was burning calories from all of the overeating I did. I do have pictures but will have to post them later.

As far as noise is concerned - there was only one night that I woke up and could hear anything going on in the Aqua Theatre. I am thinking that the door was not shut all the way because we never heard anything the rest of the week. We would book this type of room again.

  5. We were on that same sailing. It was our first time on the Allure and while I loved the ship, both DH and I said we would not sail on her again. It was just "too big" for us and we missed a lot of things that we have experienced and loved on the smaller ships (belly flop contest, pool games, etc that were held in the aqua theatre instead of the pool decks and I couldn't pull my kids away from the H2O zone to go see them). We truly enjoyed the Freedom! And still say that our favorite trip was the Adventure. So we booked another Adventure cruise for 2015. While I think my kids would love the Freedom more because of the H20 zone, I think they will be happy with going on another cruise, regardless. And my DH will be happy with a smaller ship.

  6. Hello All,

We're taking our first RCI in June on the Allure (Can't wait!) and I was hoping any past guests could answer some questions.

    1. We already booked most of our entertainment through the website, but a few of the times we wanted are not currently available. I called RC and they said that additional spots for all shows/times will be available for reservations once on board, but you will have to go to the "Reservation" location soon as you get on board before these additional spots are also booked.

Is this true? If so, does everyone have to be present to book or can I book for the entire reservation?

You can book for all reservations on board.... we went to the Aqua Theatre several times and just stood in the back to catch the shows there.

    2. What are some good options for breakfast & lunch outside of the buffet?

We went to Johnny Rockets for Breakfast most days - it was free and we could sit outside. My kids loved the French Toast and Pancakes there. They had a cinnamon batter on the french toast.

    3. Where can I find the free ice cream/yogurt? (big deal for my kids)

Pool Decks closer to the Sports Pool and Kids Pool.

    4. Any insight on activities/must do's for kids (8 & 5)?.

We took our kids (7 and 9) to Adventure Ocean the first morning from 9-12 (it was a sea day) so they could meet other kids and get acquainted with staff. That afternoon we all went to the pool for family time. They ended up meeting more friends there and hung out with them the rest of the week. There were a TON of kid activities, but I found that mine didn't want to be away from the pool/flowrider/zipline during the day. They did enjoy going to Adventure Ocean in the evenings, though, after dinner, so they could play games and hang out with their new friends. On our previous cruise, they spent more time in AO than with us. This time, they wanted to be with us and their friends, but always in the pools. We did hang out in the boardwalk a few times and they rode the carousel, but it wasn't an all of the time thing. It really depends on the kids.

    5. Anything worth skipping?

I found that we skipped a lot of our favorites from the past (belly flop contest, sexy man contest, etc that were usually held in the main pools on the smaller boats and are now held in the aqua theatre on the Allure because we didn't want to leave the pool area. We also skipped the character meet/greets because the kids were just having too much fun to want to leave and head to the promenade.

Hopefully I'm not being too needing :), but planning for the Allure is intimidating.

    Thank you in advance!

See above! Let me know if you have any other questions.

  7. We are sailing on the Allure in just 10 days!!! Cannot wait. We are traveling with our 2 kids and they will be sharing the sofa bed. They will pretty much sleep anywhere - but I thought I read at some point that Royal has mattress toppers that they can put on the sofa bed to make it more comfortable?

Any insight? How would I request this?

    Thanks!!

  8. While trying to research shuttle/cab service for 4 adults and 2 kids from FLL to the cruise terminal, I came across a company called Fort Lauderdale Cruise Ship Shuttle.

Has anyone used them before? Looking for some reviews before I decide to book. Simply grabbing a cab when we get there probably won't work since there are 6 of us and we'd like to be in one cab.

Any other recommendations of companies to use?

    Thanks!

  10. We took our kids on their first cruise when they were almost 4 and 6. We had first seating for dinner and the kids came with us every night. They loved the fancy meal (although my son fell asleep at the table most nights - too much fun in the sun during the day). The wait staff on RCL Freedom was phenomenal. They brought him a folded up table cloth to lay his head on when he was sleeping at dinner. After dinner was over, he would wake up and we wood take them to the Adventure Ocean program for the evening while we caught a few shows.

Surprisingly, they loved spending time in AO more than with us. We felt there was a good balance between time at the pool as a family and time apart for them to go to AO and do fun stuff. They had a blast and we are all looking forward to going on the Allure in just 2 1/2 weeks. If you have any more specific questions, I can try to answer them. But my best advice is to go into it with an open mind and flexibility. You will never know if they like the dining room unless you try.

  11. We are going on the Allure in just 32 days! (who's counting?!) :D

I know that we can bring 2 bottles of wine on board, per stateroom. My mom and I typically share a 5 bottle wine package, but with this new policy, we can bring 4 bottles on board (2 for her and 2 for me as we are in different staterooms).

My question is.... we are flying into Fort Lauderdale the day we depart. I know the airport is not too far away from the port. Is there somewhere in between the two that we can stop in and buy our wine?

    Thanks in advance!

  12. So if we can get free lemonade and free iced tea - do you think they will make me an Arnold Palmer? Otherwise I'll just ask for half of a glass of lemonade and half of a glass of iced tea and combine them myself. It's something I've just started drinking and it sounds fabulous on a hot day!
