Wow Dave that is some spectacular wood working and design. Very nice. The design is amazing that you can apparently take it apart.
Dileep, the photos are of places in Kentlands, Maryland. It is a newly built "old town" that really works well and has been quite successful.

These are from a new "Old Town" in our area.

Thanks for the compliment, Dave. We just took a quick afternoon trip up there and were moved and impressed. I was also embarrassed with my relative lack of knowledge about the battle. That will be remedied, and there will be future visits. Here is a gallery I have started.

My wife and I spent a few hours at the Gettysburg battlefield area yesterday. A fascinating and moving place. The first is looking south from Plum Run to the Peach Orchard, and the second is the statue of General Warren on the summit of Little Round Top. Gettysburg is only a little over an hour's drive from our home and we will visit it more often.

There continue to be really good photos here. I didn't use my camera today, but I did use Photoshop and the Pixel Bender plugin. One could way over use it.

A new lens baby is a nice toy, and nice photos. :) I also received sort of a gift. I owned these two good old boys years ago, and recently got them back. I have a roll of film in the Yashica to play with, but I think the old Kodak has seen its last.

Cindy,
While I was editing this, I noticed Justin posted a perfect explanation. Anyway, this may help some more.
The “Sunny 16” rule is an old rule of thumb for getting close to the correct exposure on a sunny day. The aperture is set at f16 and the shutter speed is set equivalent to one over the ISO. If the ISO is 200, the shutter speed you will set is 1/200 second. That combination should give you a decent exposure of a subject in bright sun light.
In this case Justin is referring to the fact that the moon is a subject in bright sun light. To get a proper exposure, set your camera like you were taking a photo in broad daylight. If you simply meter the moon in the black sky you will get nothing but a totally white orb in a black sky. (Unless you use a powerful spot meter right on the moon.)

It was 1/125 at F18, ISO200. Remember, it's a bright sunny day on the moon when it's night here - so exposures are just as they'd be in daylight - when shooting the moon closeup, use the old Sunny 16 rule!
Got that. I just thought you would have cut the light more than that with the 2X TC.

Nice one Justin. Amazingly sharp. How long was the exposure?

Nice work Roff - I prefer the ominous trees - though I don't know if that's a sign of my personality! ;)
Dileep - love the geese...that would be some sight to see that many taking flight at once - I wish I was in a bit more of a migration cross path like that.
LOL. I kind of like the dark trees better also. And, ditto on Dileep's photo. Nice one. Reminds me of scenes from the NOVA series.

I have has a little project to catch the "moods" of the trees in our area.

A little surprise this morning...
Snowfall courtesy of the tall trees and a breeze.
Dave
LOL. Welcome to the East! I don't believe we have seen a backyard snow fall photo from you before. :D
Justin, Great animal and bird shots. I still have to stop there in FL on a trip.

Blue, white and frozen were kind of the themes over Maryland today.
Too cold, we need a warm cruise.

With the grand kid theme. Her mother decided she needed a "smash cake" for her first birthday.

Wow Justin, those are nice. Thanks for posting the park name and information. We are driving to Ft. Lauderdale next week to catch a cruise on the Emerald Princess. I see that area is not too far off of I95. I think I may have to make a detour.

:D Breathes a sigh of relief that we don't have any snow photos here in the Washington, DC area. I really like looking at Judy's all the more.
Happy New years all!

I got out and used my camera today...
