  1. Thank you JBare. Excellent review of how to get to and from San Antonio from Santiago. Also, thank you for the advice regarding the metro and luggage. We got caught doing that in Europe. Many stations had no escalators / elevators resulting in having to carry large suitcases up and down many flights of stairs. Not a major problem, but totally unexpected.

We will be travelling in the opposite direction. Santiago to San Antonio. In your opinion, will we need advance reservations for the bus? Is there a difference between bus companies? Did the tour people indicate the free transport between the bus terminal and the port will continue indefinitely?

Once again, thank you so much for your post.

  2. Seeing that the majority of ships will be using San Antonio instead of Valparasio for both embarkation and debarkation, does anyone know how to get from Santiago to San Antonio by bus? I understand that there is a bus from the main terminal in Santiago (Tur bus) that goes to San Antonio. Can anyone verify this? Also, I have read somewhere that the bus terminal in San Antonio is only 4 blocks from the Port Entrance. Can anyone verify this as well and give directions from the bus terminal to the Port Entrance. Thanks in advance.

  3. We took the metro to and from the cruise ship in Singapore. You have 3 to four stairs to negotiate at the Marina South Pier Station. Otherwise, there are escalators etc to get you around. Cost is about 2.50 SDG per person (machines only take coins and 5 and 10 dollar bills). Time it took to get from hotel to cruise ship was about 20 min (there was a wait for the train). From cruise ship to airport - 40 min to 60 min total. It was easy and comfortable. When you are at the Marina South Pier Station, it is about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the ship. All on flat ground, paved, and covered. Very easy to do if you do not have mobility issues.

  4. Kek Lok Si Temple closes at 6. So if you are like us and got in at 3, you would be cutting it close. Otherwise, Penang was the most disappointing stop. Not a town to walk around. Nothing much to see, and most shops close around 4:30.

  5. 1. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of anyone missing the ship due to traffic issues from KL to Port Klang?

    2. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of the cost of a taxi to and from KL from Port Klang?

    3. Does anyone know the price charged by private taxis to tour KL from Port Klang? I have heard anywhere from US $100 to $150.

Thanks for the answers in advance.

  6. In looking at the route and timetable for the Alilaguna waterbus, it shows that the waterbus does go to and from the Hilton Molino and the cruise ship terminal (Tronchetto stop). Can anyone confirm this as I was planning to simply hop off the cruise ship upon disembarking and hop onto a Alilaguna waterbus that would take us directly to the Hilton Molino.
