  1. To add insult to injury, we were told that they no longer plot by hand. Everything is done electronically although the bridge still takes celestial plots to keep their expertise in a dying art. I don't think the charts they auction are true "working" or worked on charts. Again, I may be wrong but this was what we were told at a technology briefing a few weeks ago on the Crown Princess.

  2. I've always called the Passenger Service Desk with problems and they were handled quickly. The cabin stewards are so busy and it would be an interruption for them to answer a page. Worse would be to disturb them on their very limited time off.

I agree, Passenger Service. That's what they are there for. Also, we were on The Crown just a few weeks ago, Jan. 11-18, and can report absolutely no A/C or plumbing problems in cabin D610, port side. We did close the curtain during the afternoon as a precaution, but everything stayed cool. We never had to run the thermostat all the way down. :)

  3. We'll be flying in to LGA the afternoon of Friday, October 3rd, for a cruise that leaves the Brooklyn Terminal the following day. Convenience is the prime concern rather than sightseeing. Thoughts on where to stay, the best way to get there (to the hotel and then the terminal) would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

  4. We're sailing on the Royal next October using the Brooklyn terminal. I'm starting to look at flights and haven't found anything on the Princess site about airport connections. Do you know if a 11am flight out of LGA is workable, or what Princess suggests?

  5. We are sailing on a "small ship" for the first time next year. We are booked on the Island Princess in December 2014.

My wife has wanted to give small ship cruising a try for a long time. After reading this thread and so many positive comments, I am beginning to look forward to the small ship experience.

We were on the Island for an Alaskan cruise and I found it the ideal size. I certainly wouldn't classify it as small, maybe mid-size. I believe you'll enjoy being aboard. Enjoy the cruise. :)

  6. What percentage is added to air fares booked through Princess? I booked through Princess but see that the fare on my itinerary at the airline site is less than the amount shown on my Princess booking confirmation. Curious.

  7. We were on our first and only meet and greet when the organizer became incensed that no officers showed up. As she wailed away I thought to myself how arrogant she was, especially as she waved her Elite card around for all to admire. If that's a typical M&G we want no part of it. BTW, the Captain did show before the meeting ended.
