We're thoroughly enjoying tagging along Chris. Have a safe voyage and thanks for sharing your journey with us!

I currently enjoy the Military Benefit that Princess is gracious enough to offer. Can it be used in conjunction with the Shareholder Benefit or must it be just one or the other? Thanks!

Thank you for a great review. We were on the same cruise a month prior to yours. :)

We had a clamshell about a month ago. It wasn't hot, it was cool. But, to each his own. :)

To add insult to injury, we were told that they no longer plot by hand. Everything is done electronically although the bridge still takes celestial plots to keep their expertise in a dying art. I don't think the charts they auction are true "working" or worked on charts. Again, I may be wrong but this was what we were told at a technology briefing a few weeks ago on the Crown Princess.

I've always called the Passenger Service Desk with problems and they were handled quickly. The cabin stewards are so busy and it would be an interruption for them to answer a page. Worse would be to disturb them on their very limited time off.
I agree, Passenger Service. That's what they are there for. Also, we were on The Crown just a few weeks ago, Jan. 11-18, and can report absolutely no A/C or plumbing problems in cabin D610, port side. We did close the curtain during the afternoon as a precaution, but everything stayed cool. We never had to run the thermostat all the way down. :)

What's your hotel budget? Two people?
Basically you would take a cab to your hotel from LGA and from your hotel to the pier.
Two of us. Really, no budget per se. Just nothing extremely high end, nothing next to a ghetto. :)
-
We'll be flying in to LGA the afternoon of Friday, October 3rd, for a cruise that leaves the Brooklyn Terminal the following day. Convenience is the prime concern rather than sightseeing. Thoughts on where to stay, the best way to get there (to the hotel and then the terminal) would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

From the bridge cam it looked like you were having a race with another Princess ship.It was only in view for a few frames. I think it is Star Princess
Have you not read about the unfortunate incident aboard the Grand?

I cruised one time on HAL. .........
The dining times on HAL are:
early seating: 4:00
Late seating: 5:30
Midnight buffet: 7:30
Seriously?

We got an email yesterday about staggered boarding on the Crown Princess at Port Everglades. Departure date is January 11th..
-
Excellent. I know it must have taken hours to produce. Thank you for sharing.
-
Thank you for the "how to find". 12:15p is the earliest. :)

We're sailing on the Royal next October using the Brooklyn terminal. I'm starting to look at flights and haven't found anything on the Princess site about airport connections. Do you know if a 11am flight out of LGA is workable, or what Princess suggests?

It would be very nice to live near a major port city. I have a feeling there would be many more cruises for a lot of us if that were the case.

We are sailing on a "small ship" for the first time next year. We are booked on the Island Princess in December 2014.
My wife has wanted to give small ship cruising a try for a long time. After reading this thread and so many positive comments, I am beginning to look forward to the small ship experience.
We were on the Island for an Alaskan cruise and I found it the ideal size. I certainly wouldn't classify it as small, maybe mid-size. I believe you'll enjoy being aboard. Enjoy the cruise. :)

What percentage is added to air fares booked through Princess? I booked through Princess but see that the fare on my itinerary at the airline site is less than the amount shown on my Princess booking confirmation. Curious.

We were on our first and only meet and greet when the organizer became incensed that no officers showed up. As she wailed away I thought to myself how arrogant she was, especially as she waved her Elite card around for all to admire. If that's a typical M&G we want no part of it. BTW, the Captain did show before the meeting ended.
-
If you decide on Princess please let us know how you liked it and your thoughts after sailing.
-
Thank you!

Does anyone know how to get in touch with Sonny Binn? The website that I found seems rather generic and has no direct contact information. Thanks!
-
Yes, quite embarrassing but the captain answered it gracefully without answering. It was awkward just being around it.

We were on the Crown in 2011 when one of our fellow UT participants took time on the bridge to ask Captain Nash how much he was paid. Seriously!
