Don’t know about WhatsApp, but on the Liberty last month we were able to send IMessages to each other and home without the WiFi package. Last year on the same ship we were NOT able to.

Our daughter just got off Harmony yesterday and she texted me through iphone messages saying, how is it possible I can text and get texts with my phone on airplane mode and no wi-fi? I told her it was a loophole that sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. When we were on Wonder in September it worked for us. In January it did not.

  2. When we sailed they checked boarding times and there were specific lines you had to stand in outside. We had an 11am boarding time arrived around 10:15. We waited outside for 30 or so minutes in line before it started moving with the 10:30 line and we finally made it under the tent in the shade. We did not start going thru security until right at 11am. There were tons of people in long lines outside the terminal tent.

From what I saw in Dec at Labadee with the cabanas I would have to agree.....sky high prices remained prior to the sailing and half remained  empty the day we were there. People were staring at the ones occupied laughing at how much those people paid while all the others remained empty.

This was our experience in Sept '23 and Jan '24. There were maybe 3 over the water cabanas that were being used.

Literally never saw anyone hit a Major.  Not even playing free slots on my phone.

It's nice to know it actually happens (however rare).

Hubby hit a major last week on Voyager. $987 plus a couple of bonuses so he got around $1050. That was second time on this machine to hit a major. The other time was back in March.

I'm willing to try it, if one of the big ships comes into Bayonne or Baltimore.

Symphony will be sailing out of Cape Liberty in 2024. We said for years we'd never sail anything bigger than Freedom class because of crowds. Finally tried Allure in 2020 before covid and LOVED it. Oasis is now our preferred ship class. Itineraries are much better on smaller ships though so if we are looking to visit other places we'd go with a smaller ship.

  6. Considering booking a TransAtlantic cruise and would need one way airfare home afterwards. Is it possible to check flight pricing prior to booking the cruise? I checked American and Expedia to get an idea and the one way fare is 3-4x the cost of the cruise. I'd seen comments that Air2Sea is the way to go to get cheaper one-way fare. I don't want to book the cruise if the airfare isn't affordable.

    It does. Here you go:

    Overview

Nothing says vacation mode like spending the day on the pool deck soaking up the scene. Choose from a poolside or ocean view casita, where you’re just steps from all the action as you relax in the shade. Your casita is the ultimate retreat between dunks in the pool and soaking up the sun.

OMG when I was quickly skimming the overview I initially read "Your casita is the ultimate retreat between DRUNKS in the pool..." I was like, wait, what did that say???

Yep it adds capacity, now they will dock 2 Oasis class ships there at the same time.  If not enough purchase the Hideaway guess what...more people on the rest of the island.

It was  great idea when they originally announced it was complimentary.  One Jason got his fingers in the pot they may now have an issue with crowding on the rest of the island.

Yes I was excited about when Michael Bayley first started talking about it and saying it would be complementary. That didn't happen. The times we've been to Coco Cay at South Beach we've not had any issues with kids. I'd just as soon sit there on free loungers and enjoy my time rather than paying to sit at the Hideaway area.

We were on the Allure in January 2020 during Yeshiva Week.  I did a lot of homework before boarding.  I know the Solarium Bistro would be closed to us.  I knew one of the elevators would be programmed to stop at every deck on Shabbat.  I knew they would not want to interact with us and their dress code.  What I didn't know is they allow their children to run around in all venues to express their energy and joy, even during worship services.

No more Yeshiva week cruises for me....

We were on that same cruise and had the same experience. The kids were out of control! Climbing on everything, running, just acting crazy. We've been on 30+ cruises and it was like nothing we've ever experienced. We didn't know before getting on that it was Yeshiva Week. It is definitely something that we would avoid in the future.

I booked harmony jan and may 2025. Some of the best prices I've seen for an oasis class. I do those cruises for the ship mostly. It would be nice to go to coco cay though.

There are some 8 night cruises from Galveston on Harmony that go to Coco Cay. We are on one 9/2024. I think there were 4-5 in 2024. Pretty sure I saw some listed for 2025 but may not have been Harmony.

I noticed the Chops Sample menu in the Cruise Planner has the Seafood Tower listed. I haven't seen it on a sample menu since Covid. Is it back or is this RCs wonderful IT dept?

Haven't seen it on any of our recent sailings. I loved that tower and wish that they would bring it back!
