  1. On my last cruise on the Breakaway, they did not have Lactose free (Lactaid) milk on board. I went through the Access Dept and put in my request months ahead and told them that I was lactose intolerant and they assured me that they would have it onboard. Needless to say, they did not have any on board that week. They provided me with soy milk, but I can not tolerate Soy milk. Maybe this was just a rare occasion that they did not have the Lactaid and I did speak to the Officers on board regarding this. I would definite have an alternative plan to be prepared in case they don't have it again. I never had this problem on any of our NCL other ships I've been on. Carol

  2. Hi all. Looked at clip on March update on pier. Has anyone been there lately that can advise whether pier is open and progress

We tendered into Tortola on April 21. We were on the Gem. The pier shops at that time had much work to be completed.

  3. Hi fellow cruisers. Can any recent cruiser advise if the new pier and shops are open or the progress. Was on port site but no new info. Bob The Villages Florida

We were in Tortola on April 21 and we had to tender into the port. I did read that after that they did start to dock at the pier. The shops at the pier at that time had a lot of work to be finished. Carol

  4. How is that a problem? As long as the credits are there what difference does it make!

Relax, worry about ISIS taking over strategic cities in the Middle East. That's that I worry about. Or the growing antisemitism growing in Europe.

    Now that's a problem.

This is a cruise forum where I'm under the impression that questions are welcomed and it has the purpose of helping one another. I'm sure we are all concerned about various world problems. This is not the place for an answer like yours and I find your response insulting.

  5. I am the OP and have been away at a family function most of the day. I have read the preceding posts and my only purpose was to give my fellow cruise critic cruisers a "heads up" regarding the changes to Cagneys --Starting in June. As I said in my original post this was told to me and a few others after a question and answer session on the Gem the day before we arrived back in port. At this session there was the Captain, the Chief Engineer, the Hotel Director and the Head Chef. Those of you that have cruised with NCL know that they have these sessions during the cruise. After the formal questions, the officers left and the HD stayed and chatted with a few of us for additional questions. I believe the HD was just told by corporate office about the proposed a la carte changes in Cagneys. That is all I know about this at this time. I would think and hope that it would be officially announced soon and any info that is asked to PCCs, TAs, at this time would not be the current info as this development is too new. Hope that helps a few of you that doubt my report. We all must be patient while these changes go through the channels of PR. Carol

  6. Just back from our Gem cruise. We were the only ship in port and did not dock at the pier. We tendered into the port as the pier was not complete. The construction is still going on and I don't think that anything at the pier will be ready anytime soon. I understand that a Carnival ship docked a few weeks ago, but left the pier with some damage that has to be repaired again.

  7. Just off the Gem on Friday and we did the Tortola Beach Break tour with NCL. We went to Cane Garden Bay. It was a wonderful beach with soft sand and clear calm water. It was a great day. The tour driver took us in open safari buses up and over the mountains of Tortola with plenty of photo ops along the way. It was an interesting ride up to their highest point and around the curves of the terrain and fully narrated along the way. I asked what beach we were going to and was told that they have been going to Cane Garden Bay every sailing of this year, rarely in the past have they gone to another beach. It is a beautiful beach and I think it is my favorite on this cruise.

  8. Just came back from a great cruise on the Gem. We were told by the Hotel Director that Cagney's will have changes starting in June. It will not be part of the UDP anymore and all items on the menu will be al a carte pricing. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to all. Carol

  9. Can anyone tell me if you can book the Platinum Specialty Dining Comp dinners before you get to your cabin and actually have the certificate in hand? This is the first time my husband and I both are Platinum, and we'd like to book as soon as we board to insure getting the time and day that is convenient for us. Will this still get charged out of our OBC, even if it's a comp? Do we then have to go to Guest Services and tell them that is a Platinum comp or is the charges just cancelled after our meal? Can someone tell me what the procedure is ? Also can this be booked at the pier without incurring a charge to our credit card? Carol

  10. Upon arrival in our cabin this time, there was a letter about bronze benefits with two other people's names. We booked a last minute gty cabin. They either shuffled people around last minute or somebody cancelled last minute.

We went to the cruise consultatant on day one and he printed our platinum materials on the spot. After we reviewed them, we asked about the single laundry certified it's both banks on one form and instructions to place form in laundry bag. He said that it was now one per cabin, though he expressed that two might be appropriate if it had been a long cruise.

Not very may platinums aboard that cruise...spring break families with young kids.

What ship were you on and when did this happen? Carol

  11. It's been many cruises since the free bottle was offered first night. If you are Platinum you will receive a certificate for a comp dinner at Le Bistro, La Cucina or Moderno with a bottle of wine included. Ditto if you are Golden or VIP with the casino -- they will comp you at least one dinner with wine.

    Tracy

Do you need to have the certificate already to show them when you book the comp specialty Platinum dinners? I'd like to book them as soon as we board and don't know if they would be in our cabin yet or even if we would have access to the cabin when we embark? Thanks Carol
