1. To answer your questions: 1) when family members are traveling together, they fill out one card for customs. The allowances can be combined. If a family of three is traveling together, and each person is allowed $800. they are exempt $2,400. 2) customs tells you that only cash or personal check is accepted, to pay duty. I hope this helps!
2. What a nightmare. I would like to discuss this with you, as I just had a friend experience the same thing. Could we communicate via email?
3. My son and I are booked on the Avalon Creativity's Rhine River cruise August 16. We are sailing from Basel to Amsterdam for seven days. We are looking forward to this adventure!
4. HELP!! Can anyone out there tell me about mini-suite E720 on the Caribbean Princess? Your thoughts and comments are welcome and pictures would be great! Thanks for your help.

Are you guys OK? Have thought about our Houston friends and are hoping everyone is safe and dry! I guess the port of Galveston will be up and running in no time. We decided not to cruise next week, but are looking for something in the future. Stay in touch. Anne
6. Our October 2 sailing on the Elation was cancelled and we haven't received our refund yet. Has anyone out there received anything? Thanks!

How did you find me here? How are you all doing? We miss all of you as well. Have you heard from anyone? It seems that we don't have a cruise at the moment. We had booked the Elation for the week that our son has Fall Break. They gave us a fabulous Military discount. Then last week we were informed that our cruise was cancelled. I called to ask about switching to the Conquest and they said that it would cost another $1,000.00. I checked into the Rhapsody for the week of October 2 and they wanted $949.00 per person. Is this high for a ship of that age? We sailed the Conquest out of New Orleans two years ago. It was nice, but a LOT of passengers. Also, it was during the summer, so that made a difference. Hope you survived the summer, it should be getting cooler! Take care. Anne

I asked about booking the Conquest on 10/2. They wanted almost double what we had already paid for the Elation. I said, Thanks, but no thanks. pkg: What are you and your family going to do? My e-mail is: skislow@juno.com Anne

Elation cruise cancelled

I just got off the phone with our TA concerning the cancellation of our Elation cruise on 10/2/05. She said that we could be rebooked on the Conquest for an additional fee. We had paid just under $1,200.00 for three of us in one cabin. The price of the Conquest would be $2,175.00. WOW!!! Now, it all makes sense...

Tricktsm: Thanks for thinking about us, we were beginning to feel lonely here by ourselves. Earlier in the week, we were predicting this scenario might happen. We received a message yesterday that our money would be refunded in two to four weeks and that our cruise was cancelled. There was no mention of moving us over to the Conquest. I do plan to speak with our TA today to see what is going on. I feel so sorry for all of the employees of the ships who are basically out of work. Doesn't Carnival have to honor their contracts with them? Please keep us informed, and thanks again. Anne
11. Just got back from the Carnival website which announced that all Elation departures from 9/11/05 through 2/26/06 were cancelled. The Elation will take over the Ecstasy's schedule.

Isn't anyone sailing on October 2? Does anyone know if a large group is booked on this cruise? Our thirty day countdown is about to begin. Pam, is your gang getting excited yet?
13. My family and I are booked on the cave tubing excursion during the October 2 sailing of the Elation. My question is: Is there total darkness during any part of the tubing experience? A member of our group is claustrophobic, and would feel better if they knew the answer to this question! Thank you so much!

Thanks for the information about Paradise Beach! Sounds good! No, we have never done the submarine, but I have heard good things. We will probably go to the beach while in Cozumel, perhaps stopping by Carlos and Charlie's.

Pam, I have been confusing Paradise Beach with Passion Island. I found a good map of Cozumel island at the following address: www.gocozumel.com/island-map.htm Paradise Beach is on the western side of Cozumel. Passion Island (Isla de la Pasion) is at the northern tip of Cozumel. Passion Island is privately owned by Carnival and is the place we went two years ago. It seemed like paradise, that is why I got it confused with Paradise Beach. It was pricey, however, and required a trip by bus to the northernmost part of Cozumel, and a short ferry ride over to the smaller island. All of the transportation was included, we just showed up. Tell me what you know about Paradise Beach. Sorry for the confusion. Hope the map helps! Anne
