  1. B2B on Oasis in November - no Giovanni's lunch Just a set lunch in the MDR with a few choices. When I got mine it wasn't what I ordered. Apparently they were out of that - I didn't want what they brought so I ordered again and waited for that one. Would have loved Giovannis but what I got in the end was OK

  2. Was told that my sailing on harmony (May 22 2016 [?!]) was too far out and the system wont allow him to add OBC. Told to try again in 2 weeks.

I have purchased OBC for a cruise in Nov 2016 and another in Mar 2017 so I would phone again and get a different agent. It wasn't a one time deal either as I have multiple OBC on both cruises

  3. Hi, I just called to add OBC to a Nov 2016 cruise as I am worried they will put the exchange rate higher soon. I wanted to buy 499 for me and 499 for my spouse.

We each had 499 US credit previously purchased for this cruise. The rep put me on hold and then came back and told me I could only purchase a 499 credit per cruise - not 499 each. I said we already have 499 each and this seems to be a new policy. She said it just changed a few days ago and that I couldn't buy any more.

I asked her to check when the policy changed and what it actually was. After a fair bit of hold time she came back and told me her supervisor said the policy had changed 4 times in the last month and she could go ahead and sell me the two 499 OBCS.

It seems the 10% OBC is still going strong, just a bit tougher to get it.

  4. I had my birthday on my last Oasis cruise. The cruiseline asks on the online checkin if you are celebrating anything. I put my birthday and they asked which day you would like to celebrate. I thought it would be like Princess where you have a banner placed on your door with Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary. It is cardboard and there are balloons with it. There is a card left in your stateroom for you to present to your dining room waiter for a small cake to be brought to you in the dining room on a night of your choosing. There is no charge for this.

On RCI it is .....nothing.... My husband asked the steward where the banner was, he asked his manager who said "I didn't get the email" so there was nothing done at all. If you want a celebration I guess you have to pay for it or do it yourself.

  5. Just a quick question and I thought it best to ask here since everyone is Canadian ... for those who have done a European cruise, how did you do your money exchange? From CDN into Euros? Or did you convert your CDN into USD first and then into Euros? I have my first European cruise next fall and just looking for the best way to do it. Thanks!!

Last year we took a few Euros and then some US$ for private excursions we had booked in advance. Used ATMs on shore to get Euros and Pounds in England. We have a US$ credit card so used that onboard. Our CDN $ was worth more against US then. We go again next year and will pre purchase US OBC for use on the ship and will use the credit card for whatever we can. I tried to add to my US account monthly when I saw our dollar dropping against world currencies.

  6. Can you make a 1-time payment with Credit Card while keeping it a Cash Account?

It just means many, many trips to Guest services.

In the two weeks we were on board we made quite a few trips to guest service. I know they can change you from credit card to cash but not sure if they would do it on a daily basis

  7. Worked fine on Liberty. Casino Cashiers knew that a Cash account == no fees. FYI - I also tried at Guest Services once and had no luck (they claimed it was a OBC Refund).

One question - what is preventing anyone (even normal USD paid accounts) from setting up a Cash Account, withdrawing say $3500 from Cashiers ($500 x 7 days) and then paying it off with Credit Card that gives Points/Miles? :p;)

After your cash account reaches $500 owing, they block your sea pass card so you can't make any more purchases until you make a payment on your account.

  8. We are flying KLM next May from YVR to Amsterdam and connecting to Copenhagen. I have not flown them before but friends have and enjoyed the flight. I checked and they have the same connection from Toronto. We are staying 3 days in Amsterdam and then flying to Copenhagen. It was actually cheaper to do that than to fly to Copenhagen the same day.

Have you tried using ITA Matrix? You can't book flights but you can check multiple airlines and then choose who you wish to fly with. Just google it and it is pretty easy to use. They have an app for iPad called ON THE FLY

  9. We just spent 2 weeks on Oasis Nov 7 to 21. We had quite a bit of pre purchased OBC. We could withdraw 500$ per day at the casino, they tried a few times to charge 5% but as soon as we said it was a cash acct there was no problem and we got the full amount. We could not withdraw cash at guest services until the last day of each cruise.

Maybe each ship is slightly different in the way they administer the withdrawals but it certainly made the currency difference a lot easier to take.

  10. If you are interested in a really casual restaurant, just a few doors from the Publix beside your hotel is a little hole in the wall Italian restaurant - Giulianos. This place is not fancy and does a very brisk take out Pizza and Italian food business. There are about 8 tables inside and I eat there every time I go to Fort Lauderdale and the food is great - love their garlic rolls and their soups and everything else I have tried is excellent. Sounds like you have made a decision but in case it doesn't work out then you have another choice.

I'll be eating dinner here Nov 5 and 6.....

  11. This past summer while waiting at a luggage carousel at the airport I saw a woman pick up a red suitcase. She was waiting for more luggage and a young family came to her and said we think you have our bag - they checked the tags and it was the family's bag. She then found another red bag, within a few minutes a young man came up to her and said I think you have my bag.....yes, it was his bag. I saw her leaving later with a rust coloured bag which I hoped was hers. Unless you have really distinctive luggage I think the coloured duct tape is the best idea I have heard.

  12. I have done this both ways in the past few months and I would agree the Casino Credit is the easiest way to go.

In April I bought OBC and had to go to the casino, transfer cash from my account to the slot machine and then cash out and go to the Casino teller and get cash. I did this a couple of times during the cruise.

Just last week I had purchased Casino Credits. When I checked in there were cards on the bed showing the amount of my credit. The next day I took the cards to the Casino teller and she counted out $500 US which I put safely away.

The Casino Credits were definitely the easiest way to do it. I am not a gambler but I felt like I had to play the slot a little bit when I transferred the OBC the first time.

With the rapid decline of our currency against the US$ this is a way to save a bit. Cruises certainly seem a lot more expensive now that they are 30% higher for CDN

  13. This has been an issue since the latest "upgrade" to the website. Even if you log in and select a province instead of a state you get quoted in US$.

Use this address and log in with your userid and you will get Canadian $ pricing. I saved this shortcut from a previous thread.

Also, just FYI - I did a mock booking today in US$ and then did the CDN$ one - CDN is 20% higher than US.

  14. Hello, I thought I replied on the Princess forum but I guess the thread was deleted.

Anyway, last September we stayed in 2 hotels near Termini station - both 3 stars both clean and with elevators and very good breakfasts with eggs, fresh fruit, meat etc.

The Hotel Montecarlo and the Crosti Hotel both about 15 min walk from Termini in very safe areas are around your price range. I would not hesitate to stay in either again. Wonderful English speaking staff and great restaurants close by.

    Have fun!

  15. I shared the cabin with my friend and we had twin beds. It was our first time in an inside but the price was fabulous so we thought we would give it a try. I found the room was ok size-wise, there is a desk and one chair. Plus, we thought that big deck would be a bonus and it was. The special crew doors are at the front of the ship and they unlocked them on canal day and you can walk the length of the ship and get a view from there too.

Unfortunately, with the renovation they are doing to the Coral (I think in early 2016 but not sure) these big shared balconies will be made into cabins.

    Take advantage while you can!

  16. I think the cabin is in an excellent location. When I did the panama on Coral I had one of these cabins too. Every morning I would get up and walk only a few steps to the fabulous balcony that runs across the whole back of the Emerald deck . Spent lots of time there during the transit through the locks as it seems so close you could almost touch the sides.

I did not mind the walk to the public areas as walking is a good way to keep the extra pounds off. I think we were in E728 so I don't know about noise from the laundry but I know we used it! I would be very happy to be in this cabin.

Have fun, it is a wonderful cruise.
