  1. We were in 7123, a PH2 on the Vista which is two cabins from the end, aft.  Fabulous balcony. No issues with vibration or motion- seas were very calm.
We take the PH1- all the way aft on Marina or Riviera when we can get them- 7135 or 7130. Sometimes some creaking, but not much difference in motion.

  2. I tried 2 different travel cpap machines, but at my pressure of 15, both were pretty noisy. My husband told me he would gladly carry my full size Resmed airsense 10, as the others kept him awake. I keep waiting for a quiet machine to come out, but even the sales rep at cpap.com told me the travel cpap machines are too noisy for those using pressures above 8.
My TA notifies Oceania of the need for distilled water and the cabin steward kept refilling the bottle. He gave me an extension cord while on the Marina- the outlet was on my husband's side of the bed on Marina. Vista has outlets everywhere, so no extension cord is needed.

  3. We were in 7123 and have booked 7109 on the Allura for 2025.  Balcony for 7123 was deep and great, but 7109 is even better as it has the plexiglass on one side as well as straight ahead. I went in it as we were disembarking and the door was wide open.  7107 is right next door and does not have the expansive balcony. It is a PH, so the balcony is wide, but not extra deep- you need to be in 7109 or aft of that. On the port side, 7108 is like 7109 as are the cabins aft of that.  They are all PH2, except for the very aft cabins which are PH1 because the balconies wrap around. I was able to get that cabin on the Vista in 2025- when I booked it, the only cabin on the ship that had been taken was the starboard one and I got the port one- they are 7127 snd 7124.

If you don’t need the sofabed and are willing to pay a little more, I would get on the waitinglist to move further back. The extra depth of the balcony allows for two lounges and a table and 2 chairs with loads of space around it. If you are to have the standard balcony of 7107, you might want to take a PH on deck 10 and be just one deck below the executive lounge- we never went there as it was easier to get to baristas.

  4. I really liked Ember- the filet and rib eye steaks were great, as was the pork chop. What I hated was the fact that they relocated it from the starboard side, where Jacques would have bern- to the aft of the ship, so they eliminated the stairs and elevator- you need to get off at deck 6 and walk to the front of the ship and go down to deck 5 and walk to the back.  Saving grace was the calories I burned off doing it which allowed for extra butter on my baked potato.

  5. We had lots of these on our Vista cruise through the Panama Canal. I kept putting in different cities to get the right time. Go to settings- then general- then date and time.  If you have it on automatic and you want to be one hour ahead of EST- change your city to Halifax, Canada. At 10am in Miami, it will be 11 am in Halifax. Don’t forget to switch the city back when you reenter EST.

  6. We are sailing Roundtrip from NY to Canada in October 2024.  Debating between the two categories - pricing is almost the same.  We love the aft balconies for the size and view. The club cabins on deck 8 have a similar sized balcony. Other than the bathroom being a little bigger in the Club cabin, I do not see a difference in the cabin itself.  The Club cabins are right over the theater, so I don't know if there will be a noise issue.  Any advice would be appreciated.

  7. Hi TFree, my husband and I are on the same Vista cruise. I just did the math. We also took the four free shore excursions each and did our own air to LA.  We live in S Florida, so only needed a flight to LA and will Uber home.

The Simply more price on the website for our PH2 is $800 pp more than we paid for cruise, also with no included airfare. We already booked our shore excursions- got about $1000 worth of excursions in the included 4 each, so that was a wash.  We don’t drink alcohol. It would be nice to have the second wifi included, but I will save the $1600 and either share the one connection or if the wifi is good, buy a second one.

  8. I tried to add the free land package to Rio prior to my Amazon cruise. The price of the cruise was raised by the price of the land package, so technically, the land part was free. However, the land package was sold out,  so O was selling the cruise for the original price.
I assume, had you called in time, your deal would have been similar.

  9. I am pleased that travel agents have let people know about these changes on Cruise Critic and Facebook, so bookings can be made before July 1. I guess by not giving a "heads up" to passengers, O figures those that will still book will offset those that walk away.

  10. Just had this experience. We were on a “Grand Voyage” booked as a 23 day cruise, but also sold as an 8 day cruise from Rome to Barcelona, followed by a 15 day cruise from Barcelona to Miami. We were allowed 2 reservations in each of the four specialty restaurants. When I booked them online, the computer program had me make the first reservation at all four restaurants during the first segment and the other four during the second segment. I could not space it out over the whole voyage.
Once onboard, we were able to make 2 additional reservations- don’t know if it was because it was a Grand Voyage or because we were in a PH.

I believe there is a huge degree of practicality that goes into it also. Asking for dishes with substantial changes in sauces, herbs, spices, or other ingredients isn’t normally practical for the chef or maybe those you’re sharing a table with. I’ve found dishes I really enjoy and others not so much. I order what I enjoy and don’t ask the kitchen to make huge changes to their recipes for items I don’t like. As far as the bizarre such as the veal picatta Marsala which is neither piccata nor Marsala, I just skip it and move on. Asking for either real picatta or real Marsala would be a waste of time. It’s not what the kitchen does.

The veal piccata/marsala was one of my favorite dishes on the ship. Had it for lunch everytime I ate in the dining room.

  12. Oceania sent out emails about which cabins will retain bathtubs after the refurbishment of the Marina in 2023, but it looks like they are booking all weeks, so I assume the refurbishment will not happen or has been pushed back.  Do you know anything about that?  Thanks

    Yes that could be

Our 1st O cruise we requested BA  at the time they did not have  a contract with BA so we did pay an upcharge  for choosing BA

I had called O and was told they had continued their contract with ITA when the airline took over for Alitalia and Miami is a gateway city.

Orv is correct that the extra $200 was an air differential, but what surprised me was the fact that the nonstop flight with ITA was cheaper than all other flights except one that was $20 cheaper. I suppose O could have negotiated better prices with the other carriers than with ITA, which could explain the differential amount.

  14. I wanted to use O for our flights to Rome, so we would not be stuck with the tickets if O cancelled the cruise, assuming that has not changed since our last cruise,  but the math did not make sense. For our one way Miami to Rome, there was a $500 credit if I booked my own air. O was offering a premium economy upgrade for $199.
I wanted to fly in a few days early and take the only nonstop flight that any airline offered. O wanted the $175 deviation and an extra $200 for a nonstop flight, even though the flight was less expensive than any of the flights with a stop. Adding in the extra for premium economy, O’s price was just under $1100 vs $815 a ticket for booking it on my own. The added bonus of being able to book the seats right away clinched the decision with booking it on my own.
