Wow. Beautiful. We are going on May 11, 2017 on the 13 day JB6 (no food package) land/sea from Fairbanks to Vancouver. Do you think that the food package is financially worthwhile?

I called Carnival yesterday and was told that they plan to sail the Miracle to China in March 2017. I agree that the Chinese economic situation may affect what may happen. If Carnival doesn't think that this is a good business decision in the short term then they may delay the sailing until the economic situation improves.

Nice! I happened to get invited to a 3 day cruise to no where (freebie as well!) aboard the Splendor right after she finished going to Long Beach. I happened to spend some time with Jamie Deitsch (now a CD going as Jamie Dee, she was an assistant CD at that time) and during a discussion with her, we talked about the sailing(s) to get the ship to Long Beach and sailing around the tip of South America. She said they had thought it would be really rough doing so (I guess it is known for that), so they more or less battened down the hatches tied up everything and it turned out to be pretty darn calm.

 

Was that your experience as well?

It was calm until we got to east of Georgia where we ran into a gale then it got a little rough and then smoothed out again. A very nice cruise.

Interesting, which way did you sail, going to California or returning, and which 2 legs did you do?

Valpraiso (Santiago, Chile) to Buenos Aires and Buenos Aires to NY, 2013.

I wonder how long that cruise would be for? I could imagine a very interesting itinerary but probably longer than most could do (days wise).

If the itinerary and price are right, I'll do it.

They will not move her there (again) until the canal widening project is complete. Last time it was a 3 leg journey around South America. This time will be through the canal (which would be a great cruise to take).

That's too bad. I took legs 2 and 3 and loved the cruise around the horn.
