Unfortunately we did ask about having the bed removed....what a hassel :eek:...they finally did as the Executive Housekeeper said doing it the way you did it was a fire hazard. Sailing again in this exact cabin in September..so we'll see how it goes this time..
When did you sail? We sailed in end of May 2014. They acted like they had never encountered this situation with trying to fit the porta-crib into this 2nd sleeping area (which it can't). At that time there was only two adults and a toddler and will be the same this time. What FOV cabin were you in ? We were in the #8500 and will be again.
We stayed in Cabin 7504 on Jewel. I also didn't ask to move the bed or to have it removed I just did it. My thought was if there was an issue the would have said something. We actually had security, housekeeping, and the cruise director in our room at one point because there was a smell of cigarette smoke in our room. (It was determined that it was due to a crew area below and that they would try to watch the smoking by the door.) It just so happened that the CD came in as he just happened to walk by and he enjoyed seeing little.
With having all 4 of these people in our room they saw the bed on its side and they did not anything about it. I always say do it and ask for forgiveness latter.:D We also had 2 adults and a 1yo in the room. It was great for all of us.

I see that you were able to fit the porta crib in by turning the other bed on it's side ...any problem doing this....from RCI ??? YES I know this is an old thread but looking for an answer from anyone...as we will be wanting to do this too.
No we did not have any issues from our room attendant with doing this. We had to do it on our own but they did not say anything. It was a great trip and we would stay in this room again!

The Jewel has the Coke machines right?
Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
As Bob said they do have the coke machines. There are 2 right next to each other but they are in the windjammer. They both did seem to have issues last week during our sailing.

I just got off of Jewel and was able to get cash for the RCCL Visa OBC with no issues on the day before the cruise ending. I am not sure if you can take any out prior to that time and as far as I know there is no limit to the amount you get back as we had $900 left and cashed out. Just don't forget to get the cash on the last full day of your cruise as it will go back on you card and double points will be taken out of your points pool.

We just got back form sailing out of San Juan on Jewel. We used the certified copy of our DD (1 year old) and we were fine. If it is not the original it must be a certified stamped and/or embossed copy from the government entity that issues the birth records in your area.

That's the one I'm looking for as well. I see you're cruising this year, would you mind posting pictures of your room after your cruise? I'd love to see the layout of that room. :)
Laura,
As promised we are back and here are some photos of the FO room 7504. The room is laid out so that you first walk in and the bathroom is right in front of you with a closet to your right. The main bed is behind the bathroom and there are 2 windows that look out over the front on the ship. We had 1 pull out couch and 2 chairs. The small "children" bedroom had a single bed and a pull down (from the ceiling) bunk bed. I could not see 2 people being comfortable on the pull out couch if you were to have 6 people in the room as the website suggests it holds. It was a very nice room with the only drawback being that there was a crew door directly below the small "childrens" bedroom.
Sorry about the photos I took them as we were packing up at the end of the week!

That is good to hear such a great report. We are looking forward to sailing on her in 3 weeks.
I do have one question for you that you may or may not know the answer to. Do you know if Chops has made the switch to the new menu on Jewel?
-
I hope to hear good things from this question as we will be sailing the week before you.
I would also be interested to hear if anyone has been to Chops recently on Jewel to see if they have switched to the "new" menu.

In our experience we have found them very suitable for our family. On Jewel we had four in the stateroom and on Voyager we had five. The stateroom size and sleeping arrangements were very good and the only limitation was the one bathroom. But we managed quite well.
They are on all Oasis, Freedom, Voyager, Radiance, and Vision class ships except Splendour and Legend, and also not on Majesty.
Which room were you in on Jewel? We are in 7504 in a few weeks and I am interested in that room and how it may be laid out. I know that they all seem to be different but not sure how that will be.

On Our first cruise it was selected by longest married couple and most newlywed couple. Lucky enough my wife and I were the most newlywed couple...It was a fun experience and I hope that you can get your in-laws selected.
-
From my past experience it is by invite only. I believe that it was D and D+ only on a few occasions and sail aways. It may have been suite as well but not sure i just know I never got the invite on Oasis or Allure.

Is that still true with the newer version? I thought I read some unhappy people were saying the deckplans weren't being included anymore. The app description doesn't mention them either. Or maybe they heard the complaints and added them back?
You are correct I had not noticed that change since I have not used it in over a year:(. Good thing you said something or I would have found out on my own in a month on my next cruise.

Not that I am aware of with Royal there isn't...unless you are sailing as a solo traveler...then you get 2pts per night in a regular cabin...3pts per night in a Jr. Suite or higher...
This is what I was talking about just could not get the wording to sound right.
-
Sadly, I have a Mac however I guess I'll find a way. Thanks for the info Montekat, I've got those deck plans already, however they're too big for my iPad mini to take a screenshot of.
Since you are using an iPad mini you can download the Royal Caribbean app for the device. While you are still on wifi you can access the ship and the deck plans. If you go through each deck plan of the ship it downloads to the device and is accessible in airplane mode. I have done this many times using the app and my iPhone this way. I hope that this helps:D

You can enter to be in the Crown and anchor program after your first cruise. You can sign up on-board or online after your cruise is complete. You will get 1 point for ever night you are at sea unless you are in a Jr Suite or higher room then you will get 2 points per night. There are also other ways to get more points per night but this is just the basic info. As for the point levels:
1-29 - Gold
30-54 - Platinum
55-79 - Emerald
80-174 - Diamond
175-699 - Diamond+
700+ - Pinnacle
I hope that this helps

If you go to this site all you will need is your login information for bank of america. Very easy to do.

We Sailed Oasis (sister ship) in the same cabin but 2 decks higher. We did not have any issues with motion and it was a great room and location. It also gives you quick access to the secret balcony area overlooking the aqua theater.

We are going on Freedom in October and will be traveling with our 3 children (4 year old, 2 year old, and 10 month old). Our 4 year old is used to the shower (working on the 2 year old). We remove our shower head to bathe them. Are the shower heads removable on Freedom? It would also come in handy for the baby. I bought a bathing mat and was thinking of laying her down in the shower and using the shower head to bathe her.
Thanks!
When we sailed Freedom the shower head did detach.

Our formal nights were Day 2 (St. Thomas) and Day 5 (Curacao). The second formal night was the lobster dinner. There was a wide variety of clothing...from formal dresses and tuxes to cocktail dresses and suits to a few who decided to go less formal but still looked nice. Nothing abnormal. I hope this helps.
Thank you so much it was a huge help!

It does state online that you have to convert the points at least 5 days prior to sailing.
"Orders for Onboard Amenities and Onboard Credits accompanied by the associated Reward Redemption confirmation number will be accepted up to five (5) business days (not including weekends) prior to the cruise departure date."
I would call them and do the transaction over the phone if you wait that long. Good luck and have a great cruise!:D
Redeem online or call for further assistance

Thanks for all the photos a review so far. We are taking this cruise in September. I just want to ask what nights were formal nights? I have just had a few different answers so I wanted to check with someone that recently sailed this itinerary. Thanks again!

I believe it is true. Royal recently added restrictions to the use of several awards, such as free cruise, companion fare, etc. OBC from Visa points is about the only redemption left that is combinable with other discounts.
Bob I was able to use points to reduce the cost of the cruise. Like the OBC this still has not changed very much. The only things that you cant combine, with more or less anything, are the free cruises/companion fair. You can only add OBC from points with these redemption.

You get the photos of the ones that you are in. On our last cruise we got the package and any photo my wife, daughter or myself were in. This included any photos that our daughter took with the grandparents (people who did not have the package). It was a great way to get a lot of photos of our daughters first cruise.
The package is cheaper the first night maybe second when you buy on board. I think it was the same price as online so $250 then it went up to $299 the after that early sale.
