  1. My husband and I (in our mid 60s) just booked a November 2015 cruise on the Star for a western Caribbean cruise. Our only cruise experience has been with Disney. I am trying to become acquainted with NCL and the Star. I've seen lots of photos but need help about NCL's tipping policy, anytime dining, dress code, ability to keep same server(s) throughout the cruise, etc. Any input you can provide would be greatly appreciated, including opinions/experiences on the NCL line, especially the Star. Thanks!

  2. DCL does not release all Palo reservations pre-cruise. On day of embarkation, the Navigator you will receive at check in will let you know where and when you can make dining changes/Palo reservations. I suggest you make this a priority upon boarding. If you decide to go to Palo on the first night and your dining rotation has you in Animators Palate, you will miss the activities in that dining room which are fun. Have a fun cruise!

  3. I don't think the itinerary changed. The Wonder alternates between Itineraries "A" and "B". You are booked on the 5 day Wonder "itinerary B" - your ports of call will be Cozumel and Grand Cayman and 2 sea days. The Wonder cruise before yours is on "Itinerary A", which has ports of call to Cozumel and Castaway Cay and 2 sea days. Sorry you will miss Castaway on this cruise. We are sailing on the 11/9/14 Wonder which is itinerary A.

  4. I, too, write comments on paper and attach to the comment card. I have received several postcards from DCL thanking me for taking the time to comment. Since I easily forget names, I jot down names on note paper in my bag so that I can remember names/countries of the CMs.

As an aside, Annie Marie left DCL a few weeks ago. She is pregnant and due the end of the year. Her husband, Zan, still works for DCL. We first met her in Palo on the Magic in 2004 and requested her each time we went to Palo on the Magic.

  5. I need input from about the procedure to bring a service dog on board a ship, specifically the paperwork needed to be filled out, timing of paperwork, sending paperwork to DCL or Bahamas, etc.

Background: We are sailing on the Disney Magic on 2/3/14 (35 days from today) with our daughter and her family, including our grandson's diabetic service dog. My daughter and I have been told about the necessary procedure from DCL special services, but we did not receive the same information. I was told that a month prior to boarding, we needed to forward paperwork, including certificate from the vet, so that DCL can forward info to the Bahamas. My daughter was told to submit the paperwork up to two weeks before sail date. Today, DCL told her that it is her responsibility to get paperwork to Bahamas and that our window of time is now not enough time.

Please let me know your experience with this. Service dog needs to be on board with us! I appreciate all advice/suggestions/help, etc.

Thanks from Fielder the Super Dog and me!
