  1. On the dailies it says long sleeves, sport casual. Sorry for the confusion.

Sent from my XT1585 using Forums mobile app

So this is starting to get more confusing.

I thought it was simple, wear a shirt with sleeves (short or long) and a collar, preferably one that doesn't have a silly picture or words on it. Now this statement about dailies suggesting long sleeves makes me believe even Celebrity doesn't know what it wants.

  2. We booked our cruise this past March, we booked in CDN $ as the exchange rate from Celebrity's US to Canadian cabin price worked out to $1.277 ( cabin was $1449 US or $1849 CDN) at that time I believe I would have paid around $1.38 at the bank plus also got the Classic beverage package and prepaid gratuities included as perks on our upcoming 12 day cruise.

Not sure how but you got an unbelievable deal! The interbank rate in March was between 1.335 and 1.35 and using the most favourable would have made a conversion of the US cabin price total $1934. Most banks in Canada would have converted at probably at least 2-3 higher as a minimum so booking in US would have cost probably at least $1985 so in this case booking at any amount below this on Celebrity website would make the best deal. When I booked our trip the exchange would have meant paying about $200 more so I went with booking in Canadian in addition then transferring my booking to a large Canadian big box travel company and receiving a cash card for about 8% of the trip cost.

  3. We booked Celebrity Eclipse March 18, 2018. We choose traditional dining second seating 8:30PM.

Table for 2. The reservation says we are in waiting list.

What are the odds that we get what we want?

If in traditional dining how do request a table for 2 before boarding?

  4. I have trouble sleeping with those thick bulky pillows and need a thin one preferably down or feather filled so I can squish it up.

The photos I have seen seem to indicate to me the pillows are not going to be to my liking.

What are my chances to get a pillow that I can be satisfied with? Is this something that I can request ahead of time or am I at the mercy of whoever is looking after our cabin.

  5. Received the following reply to my email request for info on cancellation policy. I still have not received any official notification and I have checked my spam folder.

    Dear xxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting our Shore Excursions Inquiry Team.

Kindly note that excursions may be cancelled up to 48 hours prior to tour departure time without penalty.

  6. TA claims nothing was advised to them.

Hopefully this will be the only excursion cancelled.

I was also under the impression that we can cancel excursions up to a believe I was told 2 days prior to the excursion. Reading the terms and conditions however I couldn't find this mentioned. Can anyone confirm cancellation rules and where they are printed.

  7. Recently was checking my credit card balance and spotted 2 refunds marked cruise.

Contacted my TA who did not know what they were for but she called and was told it was for a cancelled shore excursion.

Now I guess this is going to occur from time to time but I was disappointed that we did not receive an email advising us that it was cancelled. Is this the norm and its up to us to keep looking at our booked items to ensure we are up to date?

Has anyone received emails or calls? I was wondering if this lapse in service was to do with the mess the website is in.

  8. Don't bother with booking online as there is no advantage at all. When you board go to either Murano or Tuscan restaurant and book your package, you will be able to choose time/venue there and then, no hassle.

First time on Celebrity so have no first hand info. I recall a thread I read mentioned that when you get on the ship there is a table where they are selling the specialty bookings and that you can try to improve on the discount which the writer mentioned was the same as online.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

  9. Not sure how accurate this is but when I booked I mentioned that I was going to transfer to a TA if they couldn't give me any extra perks.

Rep gave me a bunch of reasons why I should stay booked with X one I am sure was that once in the penalty phase that you still get the benefit of a price reduction but not after final payment if with a TA.

  10. Has anyone seen a site which details the Big Box TA's and who may be the best to deal with as names are not allowed on here?

In Canada the amount of OBC available booking with a TA is very little if any. The best one can do we found is booking with one large Big Box and getting a cash card which is provided after the cruise is over. In our case it amounted to about 8%.

  11. We got them mailed to us for our March cruise. They were available about 6 weeks out. I ordered them, they came in a few days then price dropped and we got an upgrade so I ordered them again about 3 weeks out and got a new set. They are a convenience so if the web site does not allow you to order them call the Captain's Club about 5 weeks out and they can handle it for you.

Is there a difference between calling Captains Club and just the Celebrity contact number as far as the service you get? I seem to get looked after okay when I call the general number and talk to a rep.

First time Celebrity cruiser so have just preview status with no points. Anyone know if you still get looked after by Captains club before getting points?

  12. Anyone have any idea if a lot of cancellations occur in the weeks just before you are locked into a loss of deposit?

I am just guessing but somehow doubt that a lot of cancellations occur even though a TA we spoke to believes there are.

Is it worth looking to see what cabins might become available or would it be a hassle to change?

Also we are wait listed for select dining and while the celebrity rep I booked with said not to worry as the wait list would get cleared I would sooner see our status cleared prior to boarding to save the hassle of seeing the maître d' to try for a table for 2 setup. We plan to do a bunch of specialty restaurants so not fair to others if we get placed on a table only to show up once in a while.

  13. Good to know that Celebrity is willing to talk but I too like having a more accessible contact to follow up on price drops and changes. Our upcoming trip in September is one we booked onboard and got some extra OBC plus two perks and when we transfered to the big box store TA we got a nice gift card that should cover a lot of gas purchases for the next year after the trip.

Wouldn't even offer me anything, I was bumped up the line and they all said NO. When I tried to negotiate they said it isn't there policy. Maybe it depends on your status with Celebrity. I was prepared to take OBC or something similar in value to my TA gift card figuring that it probably only costs them maybe 40% of what they give you when you have to spend it on board.

Of note I posted a similar reply yesterday about my experience to someone from Canada and my post and theirs were removed, even though no TA names or identifiers were on the message. I guess this is a sensitive issue with cruise lines.
