We just disembarked the Explorer this week after its Los Angeles-Miami sailing.  During that time we dined several times in Prime 7 for both lunch and dinner and never had any service problems.  Perhaps we missed something, and would appreciate it if you could elaborate on the situation.

We are experiencing excellent service in every area of the ship.  And sometimes they can even be almost too attentive.  (There are 635 passengers on this crossing.)  In every restaurant and bar and really anywhere on the ship, every request has been addressed immediately.  Was it because Jason Montague was onboard until we reached Bermuda this morning?  Perhaps, but I'd like to think it's because we have a great crew who has learned how to work together well.  Bravo, team Explorer!

It was really a great group at the M/M. Wonderful adding faces to names.

Today was our first full day at sea. Just relaxed and had interesting conversations.

I had lunch in Chartreuse this afternoon. How relaxing and a delicious lunch menu. Will try Prime 7 tomorrow for lunch.

Tonight CR and what sounds like a good production show. The comedian last night was fun

Loved meeting everyone today!  I think we had a good turnout.  Hope to see everyone again throughout our journey to Lisbon.

How is the wifi on the ship? I might be crazy but I thought I read during the last Explorer Live report that something was being done to it in Miami???? Or maybe that had something to do with the water system.  Too many pages on that thread for me to go back through. 😁 We are boarding in about three weeks in Barcelona.  Thank you sooooo much for the updates!! Hoping to return the favor next month.

Haven't had any issues with the wifi so far.  (Maybe because Jason Montague is on board with his wife and son. 😉) And we understand that it can be slow at times, especially out in the middle of nowhere, but no problems to report at this time on our way to Bermuda.

I forgot about Roses.  I checked today and the Explorer has the Valestrel  Cotes de Provence Rose.  Also, if you want a sweet rose-like wine, there is a Beringer White Zin.

I know I asked about the champagne(s) in a different thread, but is Regent still pouring Heidsieck Monopole Blue Top at the bars and Jacquart Brut Mosaïque in the cabins?

  5. FYI -  If the shipboard credit comes from a TA, you don't necessarily need to spend it during the cruise.  Non-RSSC credit is often refundable in cash before the end of the cruise.  Check with the Purser's office.  (If you don't use it, it's like a cash rebate.)

  6. It should be on your cruise documents.  It will be itemized as:

    Group Amenities
$500 Spa or Shipboard Credit per Suite

If the shipboard credit is from your TA and not Regent, then I would check with your travel agent.

I’m on the Explorer now.  There is not an official list of complimentary wines but Georgiana Constantine, the Head Sommelier, was kind enough to print a list for me from her computer.  The list seems pretty complete.  Not on the list are a couple of red wines from Chile and the Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.  Note that the Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir is from Oregon and not from California.  Here’s the list:

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this!  I hope you're having a splendid cruise.  Are you disembarking in Miami or continuing on to Lisbon?

Regent does have a policy, as stated below, and that's what they are following.

Gratuities are included in the cruise fare for all Regent employees. If guests feel strongly about expressing their gratitude to the crew, they should be encouraged to make a donation to the Crew Welfare Fund at the Purser Office. This money is utilized for crew parties and events.

Just found this on the RSSC website under The Regent Experience - Free Pre-Paid Gratuities:

Our onboard staff is happy to deliver a flawless experience at every turn with never an additional gratuity expected, it’s already included in your cruise fare.

Well, I dont know  if they'll know or not, or will fish for tips. We'll see!! This will be my third time on Explorer, after many other Regent cruises. Ive never experienced what Ive seen described here, but if I notice it, I will not be happy, and will write about it.

We'll be on the Explorer next week, Miami -> Lisbon, and it will be our 7th Regent cruise, but our first on Explorer.

My expectations are that everything will be the same or better than everything we've already experienced in the past because, after all, isn't this why it's our 7th Regent cruise?

I'll be sure to note if I feel anything is noticeably different from our 2018 Rio -> Barcelona cruise.  But at the same time, I'm not going to let much of anything detract from our enjoyment of the total Regent experience we all love and enjoy.

Tipping sets up expectations by the crew (which could be why a few have begun "hovering").  Also, it is human nature to want to give a little extra service to those passengers who are known to tip (and the crew discusses this stuff between themselves).

How would a crew member know "those passengers who are known to tip"?  Do they keep a database and share it between all the other crew members and ships in the fleet?

We will be on Explorer for the first time.  Are the crew members going to know that we have donated to the CWF and/or tipped individually in the past on Mariner and Voyager?  I think not.

Regent has a very loyal following and the reason Regent is such a successful and popular cruise line is because every passenger is treated equally no matter where they are staying on the ship.  I'm sure this is something that has been impressed on all of the crew, hence the exceptional service we all enjoy.

  11. You will be given an option for disembarkation near the end of the cruise and you can choose a convenient time for yourself as long as it's within the disembarkation time period for that port.

Per Regent's website: For disembarkation, guests should plan on vacating their suites shortly after the scheduled arrival time into port. Cruise-only guests should not schedule flights prior to four hours after disembarkation.

We usually don't need transportation to the airport, so we choose the latest disembarkation time allowed.  Check with Regent or your TA to get a better idea.

I am not going to parse Regent’s statement which I find clear enough. Plus ?I respect individual choices.

IF Regent is going to exert itself to enforce its own rules, I would prefer the emphasis to be on limiting  lounge chair hogs.

    Exactly!

And what difference does it make?  Tip.  Don't tip.  Donate to the CWF.  Don't donate to the CWF.

I don't know why some passengers are so concerned about what other passengers are doing.
