  1. We were onboard the Zaandam when our Seattle Seahawks defeated Denver in the Super Bowl. The game was televised in the Show Lounge and the crew put on a great tail gate party. We will be on the Veendam for 2017 super bowl and hope Seahawks play again! Fun times!!

  2. We were lucky enough to see and hear it on the Kdam last week and it was awesome. Maybe it was a combination of the World Stage (great venue) and the fantastic orchestra. Amazing sights and sounds. We were kinda surprised that it was the on the last night but we would gladly go back to experience it again.

Kdam did not use the 270 degree panoramic screens - doubt it was filmed for that - but there was one very large center screen and a smaller screen on each side. Having live music written specifically for each segment was delightful. Very well done in our opinion .

I don't remember the screen sizes that are used on the Eurodam or know if the quality of musicians was as wonderful as the Kdam last week. But we love nature and like good orchestra music. A winning combination for us.

We also saw this on the Koningdam and enjoyed it! In the round it was really spectacular. The music accompanying was beautiful! Probably a very different experience in the round!

  3. As an evangelical Christian I am disappointed that Protestant pastors will only be on holiday cruises. We have taken several long cruises and have enjoyed the Bible studies, devotions and fellowship with other believers on the sea days as well as Sunday services. We will truly miss those special times!

  4. If you look at K-dam deck plan you will see that the Lincoln Center is just beyond the Queen's Lounge across from the "dueling pianos". Continue down the hallways to the Main stage. The venues are not used at the same time. Each has their performance scheduled at a time when it will not intrude on the other performances - or so it was on our 24 day cruise. There is no longer Adagio strings. However, the LC performers (violin, viola, base, piano) often play at other events as well. You will enjoy them!

  5. You are not able to edit your own pictures on the ship computers. That is why I bring my own Surface to the classes with pics downloaded. Then I can do my own editing during the trainings. Bringing one's own device also helps when room is crowded and all computers taken. Have often sat by windows or stood in back during classes and used my computer. Trainers have always been helpful if I have needed extra help with my devise during their Q&A time.

  6. On a couple of our recent cruises one could also download the info from the handouts on a flash drive. But be sure to take notes too because the instructors often share more info and hints than just what is on the sheets. Great classes - trained me on Windows 10 after I upgraded my Surface.

  7. Just a heads up! Have done 3 trans-Pacific cruises from Seattle and loved each one - port, sea days, lectures, etc. However - the worst part is the flight at end of cruise to return home. For this reason I would suggest doing east to west - that way you would have long flight first and can recuperate while you cruise back to US! Enjoy!

  8. First HAL cruise in 1986 on the old Noordam. Parents took husband and I and 4 kids, 2 brothers and their families on the 11 day Holiday cruise. 9 Kids ranged in age from 7 to 19. They still talk about their memories whenever we all get together. Such a wonderful family bonding time!

  9. We cruised on Koningsdam April 15 to May 9, 2016. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the Main stage entertainment and the Lincoln Center musicians. Felt the Lido set up worked very well - if seating was tight usually found spots near the lido pool or on the back deck. Disembarking in ports went very smoothly - liked fact that excursions usually went off on different gangplank so there was no big back up getting off ship. Don't always depend on reviews - I think people with negative reactions are more apt to voice opinions.

  10. So sad for people of Turkey! Visited on the Koningsdam in April. Our tour guide was so thankful we had come because their tourism industry has been so badly damaged by the loss of cruise ships - none had come in 6 months. We felt safe - lots of security in the city, but not so sure I would want to go now.

  11. On our Ant. cruises, we were fortunate to visit Falkland Islands each time. Volunteer Point is an amazing excursion! There are borders of white rocks that guests are told to not walk past. However, no one told the King penguins! Several came over and walked with my husband - took some wonderful pictures! Hope you are able to go there!
