  1.

P.S. After my cruise, I will make a new thread with a ton of cruise pictures, and a review of my cruise. My question for you is this. I will be spending two days with the family in New York before the cruise departs. Should I start my review with pictures from those two days in the city, or do I start my trip report with our arrival at the port?

I vote for a trip report that begins with your two days in the city!

  2. mking, I really appreciate the time you have taken on this thread and the other one, to keep me from making a BIG mistake! I will simply readjust my expectations, look into the airline lounge, and try to think of disembarkation day as another R&R day.

  3. OP, take this advice - do NOT even think about booking your 11:05 AM departure out of LGA: your odds are excellent in missing your flight, until further notice - as least a year+ away, when airport parking and roadways are fully upgraded & open.

For anyone traveling into/out of LGA for the next year +, the airport has started its major long-term capital improvement project on parking, taking out about 50% of the limited parking space and it's a traffic nightmare. Expect 30 to 45 minutes of bumper-to-bumper traffic after getting off the airport exits to get to your terminal - taxis and buses, etc. are not immune. Travelers fearing that they will miss their flights are running as much as 1/8 to 1/4 mile from the congested interior airport service roadways to the terminal with luggage in tow - this is serious, you can read about this under the Destination/East Coast forum.

Advice taken, mking. I'm convinced that I don't want/need that stress. Thanks!

  4. I asked this on the NCL board, and thought I would post it here as well as I have seen many well-thought out replies to these big city questions!

I don't have a whole lot to choose from for return flights to Mississippi. If I do the self-assist disembarkation and arrange for a car service to take us to the airport (LGA), can I book an 11:05 AM flight? The next flight isn't until almost 4:00 in the afternoon, which will put us home at midnight. That will be hard on an old body needing to go to work Monday morning. (Taking Monday off is not an option.)

  5. After a long cruising hiatus, we finally bit the bullet and decided to book on the Breakaway to Bermuda in May (first week) of next year. Two questions:

#1: The Vibe Experience is at the top of my list of must-haves. So, what time do I need to arrive at the port to ensure an early boarding group number?

#2: I don't have a whole lot to choose from for return flights coming home. 6. NCL is probably a deal compared to many other cruise lines, but I don't find cruising in itself to be the deal that it once was. I can do *two* 4-star, land-based, all-inclusive resort vacations in the Caribbean for what my upcoming cruise on the Breakaway (with balcony room) is costing. It's about choices, and I choose to cruise in 2017.

  7. Decided to give up complaining about what has changed at NCL and Just Enjoy My Upcoming Cruises. I am 63 and who know what is around the bend.

    Enjoy!

Yes. THIS. You sound like someone I would enjoy meeting on a ship, at a resort, or in a restaurant. Life, and vacations, are what you make of them. The only thing constant about life is change. Attitude is everything!

I just wish I knew where to complain about my grocery store no longer giving out S&H green stamps...

  8. I have a friend who's afraid of water. Not good for cruising:D

I dunno....I have a dire fear of water, can't swim, prefer baths to showers (to keep water out of my face), but I LOVE CRUISING! Go figure, lol.

On that same hand, my brother is just like me in regard to water, and he is a towboat captain!
