1. I'd fly into Rome a day before your cruise. No worries about delays or cancellations to arrive on time. Not a bad place to spend a day!
2. Our 1pm flight out of Rome was delayed and cancelled. Flying out that "late" leaves no options for another flight, as the majority of them (heading to the US) leave in the am. Any issues and you'll be leaving the next day, like we did. FYI

Don't forget: the pre-existing conditions waiver is not just about those taking the trip. It includes family members at home too.

You deserve it!
Have a DOD and a great cruise!!!

DH used the casino for one cruise, over eight years ago. Spent a couple hundred. This was before we met. I have never been in the casino.
All of these Pack and Play offers showed up under his VIFP number. We have booked several of them. Now, I wonder, how will they make any money on us? Don't have any interest at all in the casino. DH won't be going there either.
Thanks for the info. I always wondered how much had to be spent in the casino to get these offers? This isn't as much as I thought!!! (Maybe I'll stop in next time!)

I just want to mention what a great thread this is. It epitomizes what I believe cruise critic is all about - the excitement of a cruise being planned and the generous offers of advice from so many others.
OP: I am enjoying sharing your excitement about your upcoming cruise.
And everyone who replied - it's so nice to see such positive support!

OP: what did you decide?

OP: sounds like a frustrating cruise. Not exactly what we hope for when we plan a vacation.
Always interesting to read all the comments attempting to diminish your experience... Seems if it wasn't truly the WORST experience ever, they don't want to hear about it.

An easy way to figure out Spring Break dates is to look at the rates. Compare the cost of a cruise across the dates it's offered. The higher the cost, the more popular the dates.

I will probably just stick to brief, upbeat phone calls to check in.
Good idea.... And ALWAYS call in the morning - when they have a fun, busy day ahead of them. A call anywhere closer to bedtime brings the possibility of meltdowns.
Have a great cruise!!!

Insurance will reimburse you cancelled your first cruise for a covered reason. You'll need to read your policy and see if you meet the requirements.
Good luck

A photo of 6147 on cruisedeckplans.com shows the head of the bed towards the bow of the ship.... So I'd guess your feet will face that direction in 6145,49 and 53 ( cabins typically mirror each other... I assume to group plumbing)

We flew Rouge last summer: MSP- YYZ -FCO. Then returned VCE- YUL- YYZ- MSP.
We paid the extra $90 each way to upgrade to exit row seats. We are 5''8" and 6' and know the extra room is critical.
Made sure our devices were fully charged, and brought backup chargers just in case.
Meals were adequate. Mostly in the "something to do" category.
Heed the warning about the one hour wait time to talk to ANYONE. Customer service is awful.
Also, they don't seem to codeshare with many other airlines. We returned two days later than planned due to cancellations and delays. They simply wouldn't put us on any of the flight options we found.

How are you feeling about expenses/spending expectations to this point? If you are comfortable with the budget, upgrade and enjoy the extra space! If the budget is a bit tight, take the obc.
Go with the option that will help you enjoy your vacation the most.
I'm sure you'll have a great cruise either way!,

So sorry this turned into a mess for you. Glad you were able to rebook. I appreciate the "heads up".
Have an extra DOD when you set sail!

Since you know exactly which cruise you want, go ahead and book a balcony room. Check to see if FTTF is avail.
If not, you can choose to upgrade to a suite for it's perks.

...Personally, I thought that the experience was wonderful, and it quickly made me consider Princess as one of my favorite cruise lines...
Can you give me a few examples why? I'm always wondering...
Thanks,

Thank you Peg! That is exactly the information i was looking for! I really appreciate the time you took to reply.
Happy to be of help!

I had a rollaway on the Destiny with my two daughters (aft balcony).
It was folded up during the day, up against the bathroom wall, where the robe hooks are. (L position with the couch).
At night it was positioned parallel to the couch...so you couldn't access the couch without climbing over the rollaway - but the path to the bathroom was clear for all!
No problem!
Have a great cruise!

Rollaway or trundle?
My two daughters and I really enjoyed an aft balcony on the Destiny. Having the larger balcony meant there was plenty of room for the three of us to spend time out there.
We had a rollaway for the third bed. It wasn't as comfy as the beds, but it wasn't bad. We took turns sleeping on it. Well worth it for that balcony!!!
I would think if one trundle or rollaway was uncomfortable, you could ask for a new one.

you will have 300 dollar on board credit, in addition to the 150 you already have.
Wow! Glad you made that call huh?!
Nice!

We had this cabin on the Destiny (pre- Sunsine) and loved it! No noise issues at all.
Have a great cruise!

Maybe it'll be a better deal when the date gets closer.
That's a huge price per foot for more closet space!
Good luck,

...but I got there early and was in the row behind the VIP seats.
How early do you recommend for such great seats?
Peg
Thanks Carnival! Good job.
