  1. Not sure if this was brought up anywhere in this long thread...but considering priority embarkation and disembarkation is supposed to be part of the D perks, what do you think about Royal allowing people to buy their way into that? Do you think, long term, it's going to devalue the perk if they know they can just pay a few bucks to jump the line and as a consequence, travelers that earned their way to that point get pushed further back?

Athem going to Miami not CocoCay

Are they going to install dolphins on the end of the pier at Coco Cay to accommodate the longer ships? Mariner is just over 1k feet and Athem is 110 feet longer. Looking at the picture, the bow line looks really tight back toward the aft. More so than other piers. And it looks like there is a good amount of hull that extends past the front of the pier. Could be the angle of the picture. But would imagine they still have to provide some sort of mooring for the longer ships.
  3. Leaving on Symphony on Saturday and have the Ultimate Dining Package. Looking for a definitive answer if Playmakers is covered or not. Searched and only find old threads that it was hit or miss. Hopefully there is someone out there with a recent experience. Thanks.

    Ultimate Dining Package and Playmakers

Just off Symphony and had UDP. Playmakers, no. JRs, yes.

Izumi $49.99 - No longer a la carte?

It was 35pp last week on Symphony. That was 5 rolls for my wife and I. MORE than enough for two.

    Ultimate Dining Package on Symphony

Be interested too as we have it on Symphony for Feb.
  7. Looking for beach advice for February stop with three ships in port. Secret Harbour, Emerald, or Saphire beach? We are on Symphony so we'll be docking at Crown. Not sure what's the most economical to get to and has a good beach, chair rental, place to eat, and bathroom for the boy. Thanks.
  8. On Symphony in February and stopping in St Thomas. Believe we've settled on Saphire Beach for the day. Docks at Crown and we are there 7am to 4pm. It's two adults and one child. Would like a lounger when we get there. Looks like it's about 13 per person (with tip) for taxi there (26 pp r/t) and 9 pp for loungers. Royal has an excursion to Saphire (STF5) that's 36 per adult and 27 per child. Same beach. Both have loungers. Differences...Royal's excursion is 3.5 totals and lists only 2.5 hours at the beach (looks like they bank 1 hour r/t for their "scenic drive"). Also doesn't list a drink in the description, but the video on the site does. With the taxi, I could be there 4, 5, 6 hours (pretty much till the little one is done with the sun). Total for Royal's is 99 while taxi is about 107. Opinions?
  9. As do I. And not very far from you more than likely.
  10. Thanks. I was leaning that way.

Secret Harbour, Emerald, or Saphire Beach?

Thanks all. Now you have me thinking about Sapphire.

Secret Harbour, Emerald, or Saphire Beach?

Thanks. I'll have to start looking there instead of SH which is what I had been to this point.

Izumi $49.99 - No longer a la carte?

Still says $35 credit for my UDP on Symphony.
  14. Anyone know if the sushi making class is included with the ultimate dining package? Thanks.

Freedom Out of San Juan - Boarding

We did Adventure out of the Pan Am last June. It was very disorganized. We flew in from Orlando that morning. Think we landed about 8:30 or so. Got our bags, cab, and got there 9:30 or so. The last cruise, despite having arrived at 6am, was still in the middle if disembarkation. The porters had no clue where to put the arriving guests. We, along with about 30 others, were moved multiple times. It was like it was there first day on the job. Then they didn't allow us into the check in area until about 11. Then you have to wait there until they open this massive garage door that leads to the escalators. Only problem is there was only 50-100 chairs. And they didn't open the door for 45 minutes. And once that's opened, they positioned the photo folks at the bottom of the escalators so the mass of people have another hurdle to cross. So all in all, 10:30/11 would get you pretty close to the front of the line. Unless your flight gets you to PR that day and early, there isn't a rush to leave your hotel to get to the pier. I think the only check in that I've had worse was when we went on Quantum out of NJ but that was the second week it was there and the "tablet" check in was all new to them. Hope that helps.

Water depths and docking issues in Miami

I received a notice this morning regarding our 2/16 cruise. We were scheduled to be in Nassau on 2/22 from 10-6. My letter doesn't say we'll be there at 7 like others. Just that we are now leaving at 4. "As a result of low water depths and docking issues at the port in Miami, Florida, we’ve adjusted our departure time from Nassau, Bahamas. We’ll now depart Nassau at 4:00 PM instead of 6:00 PM, to ensure we arrive back in Miami as scheduled."

    Hike Mt Liaguiga with kid(s)?

Anyone take their kid(s) to hike Mt. Liamuiga? Looking for excursion and/or operator recommendation to get my family, including my 7 year old, to the top. Looking to hear any feedback from anyone that has either attempted or completed this feat! Any particular excursion and/or operator to go with?

    Ultimate Dining Package on Symphony

Thanks. I suppose we'll wait till December to see what the first few cruises out of POM do.
  21. Does it include Johnny Rockets and the small bites at Playmakers? Don't see them listed as excluded. Weighing getting this package vs the 5 night specialty for our upcoming trip. Thanks.
  22. But would you really want to chance all that with 2 feet in clearance? That's really not much. Can't imagine the disaster that would be when some calculation is actually off and causes the stack to clip the bridge. Too much risk imo.

    SAS Transportation

I know I could call again later when there is an answer, but figured I could also ask here. Anyone know the earliest pickup time from POM that SAS will do to get back to FLL? Have a 11:40 flight on SW out of FLL. We plan to carry off our own bags. Thanks.

    SAS Transportation

Just to update, I got in touch with SAS. They have drivers at POM starting at 6, but said most passengers don't start coming off ships till 7am. Still enough time for a 11:40 flight I would think. Especially carrying off bags and having TSA precheck. Well hopefully.

    Staying on Symphony at Nassau?

We are on Symphony in Feb and are stopping in Nassau as well. Plans are to either stay on the ship or to find another small island we can get to besides the port. Been to Nassau several times. Seen enough of it.
