  1. Yes we got charged also on April 3rd for having a drink in Crooners.  Had to have that removed which did take a bit of time.  We had to go and have it taken care of manually also.  Glad we watch our bill daily to double check it is right.

Our last cruise with them was last fall and I don't have a copy of that folio.  I always keep those for a while in the cruise folder but wonder now if we ever got it.  It was down to almost nothing left so I didn't think much about it.  Now you have me wondering!!!

Do let us know if you get the prize resolved.  Will be curious and hope it turns out that you get it without much problem.

  2. Was great meeting you and Have Dog Will Travel.  I knew she had the Sky Suite.  We never went to the PES lounge.  We were in the Suite Concierge Lounge since we had one of the Owner's Suites.  Love that lounge and Gerardo was great in there as well as Ivan.

Yes Renee started on the Sun Princess back in late 1999.  At first we were thinking we had been on the ship at the same time, but she started a few months after our cruise.  It was so nice spending so much time with her on this cruise.  Capt. Tony showed up a few times to find her for dinner.  She was such a positive for our cruise experience.

Agree on the upper deck for viewing the eclipse.  We got up there around 9:45 and had no problem at all finding a place to stand.  At least where we chose to stand it was perfect.  Renee made sure to send one of the staff over to spray my arms with sunscreen.  Had totally forgotten to do that.

    Was definitely a good cruise.

  3. Hi Cruise Raider!

Yes it was a good cruise.  We also did the Catch and 360 again.  Both were outstanding.  Loved Magdalena in 360 with her presentation.  Was good before but she brought a whole new twist to it and made the experience even so much better.

We were lucky enough to spend quite a bit of time with Renee (Captain Tony's wife) in the Concierge lounge almost every evening.  She gave us so much insight as to what went on (and what didn't contribute) for the past few years to bring this entire cruise experience together.  She is absolutely the nicest person and so much fun to be around.  She did tell us John Padgett was on the ship when we boarded on the 3rd.

Also seeing Steve Wozniak in the Concierge lounge several nights was a treat too.  Do down to earth and seemed so happy to talk to people.  He and I almost ran right into each other as I was getting off the elevator and he was getting on.

Have to laugh about those fries!!  Honestly they were beyond good.  Even the big bowls of them in the buffet we crisp and hot.  Glad I only got them twice the entire time as they could have been a huge downfall for me.  How did they keep them so crisp and good???

TSE morning was fantastic.  Will never forget when that last bit of sun disappeared and just the ring around it was visible.  We were out on the open deck and there was such a hush from everyone for a few seconds and then the cheering.  Something not to be forgotten.

Was happy that with turnaround now we didn't have to go outside and then back through the screening process as we have had to in the past.  Nice they have made this an easier operation now.

Great cruise now onto our next adventure on another line.  So happy to have met you.

    Susan

  4. We have been lucky to have been invited to several of the lunches and a few cocktail parties.  Totally agree with the lunch tables at times.  Have had some interesting people over the years.  Agree about the cocktail parties and being able to talk to whom you want to.  Honestly I'm always happy and surprised when we are invited to these.

Our upcoming booking is a CC suite and we got it.

Thank you, that is what I was curious about.  We have a CC suite for the July cruise also.  Maybe our cruise doesn't qualify for this.

    Hope you are feeling better.

  6. Actually it says early savings not booking bonus. So it has nothing to do with a deposit.

Also wondering if this is aimed at certain cabin categories.  Veranda and lower, not the suite categories.

  7. I find this interesting as we have a cruise in July but never received the e-mail.  I'm curious if this is targeted to certain stateroom categories.

We booked this cruise in Sept. 2022 and received a good sized early booking discount on the fare.  I'm wondering if this would negate us from receiving the e-mail offer.

  8. To us it wasn't that the Crown felt its age so much as the lacking of amenities the other ships like the Discovery, etc. have.  That was our biggest negative on the Crown and any of the sister ships.  We really did miss the venues we have grown to like which are not on these ships.

If they ever upgrade these ships then I may look at them again.

I do want to add this is just our opinion.  I know a lot of people love these ships and I used to, just not anymore.

  9. I had almost forgotten about the 3 day roll call.  Looked at it last night and I have signed up on the spreadsheet.  Agree the smaller one on the 3 day will be nice and so much easier to meet. Will be watching that to make sure I know the time and place she has decided on.  Have been to a few very large M&G's also and you just don't get a chance to meet many people.  They were good but definitely harder to meet many people.

    Looking forward to it.

  10. I totally agree with you!  I waited a while to send anything.  Found it odd with all the info needed too.

We are also on the 3 day cruise.  Initially we weren't going to but last year in January the cabin we have was still available so decided to jump on it.

Look forward to meeting and hearing about the Majestic.

It makes total sense to me.  My DH and I were just discussing either taking a 7 night sailing on the Majestic in a balcony vs an 11 night one in an oceanview to Alaska in August of this year.  The price is nearly the same for both cruises.  The one on the Majestic includes first class airfare both ways.  That would be my choice but he loves no flight.  Once we determine if we even like the Crown in a few weeks, (we cruised on her when she was brand new and I wasn’t exactly impressed that time), we will make our final decision.  I have refundable deposits on both.  I also got my favorite cabins on both but won’t hold those cabins for very long.
we cruised on the Majestic a few times and she is my absolute favorite ship ever!  I just know you are going to love her!  She sparkles in so many ways.

When we are on the Discovery for the Solar Eclipse cruise I would love to hear more about the Majestic.  BTW, did you sign up for the M&G on that cruise?  Just curious.  I did, but had to think twice about sending info for it.

Understand about the no flights.  I was happy when we saw Princess has the CA Coastal cruise out of Seattle this fall.  Have been to all the stops but just a nice easy getaway for us too.

Have sailed on the Crown and the other ships several times, like you, but after being on the Discovery it truly paled in offerings to us.  So many things we missed and just don't think we want to do without anymore.  LOL, the atrium seems so small after the Discovery also.  You will have to let me know what you think of it also.

I couldn’t agree with you more.  When the Royal Princess was here in SF, I was so happy and booked several cruises on her at that time.  It comes down to either flying to our embarkation port on a nice ship or just crossing the Bay Bridge on an old ship.  We’ve were spoiled .. our 5 last sailings were on the Majestic and Discovery and Royal.  Being someone that just doesn’t care about the walk around promenade, is her we could get a nice ship back in SF again.  But, when we do go on the Crown, we are just going to be so grateful for no flight, I’m sure we will manage quite well.

I'm so with you.  We only sailed on the Crown this past fall because it was R/T Seattle to Hawaii and back.  The no flight thing was also why we chose that cruise.  Luckily this coming fall Princess if offering a different cruise on the Majestic, R/T California Coastal out of Seattle.  No flights again.  We feel spoiled also with the cruises on the Discovery.  Looking forward to the Majestic as we haven't sailed on that ship yet.

I just don't want to pay the same price for a ship that just doesn't offer much compared to these others that offer so much more.  Hope that makes sense.

Thank you so much for the info!  It is all invaluable.  And I know what you mean about those motion lights, they just come on whenever the ship moves.  We have a cover that fits the Ruby’s light so, hopefully it will be the same for the Crown.  The Discovery either never had them or they’ve disabled the motion sensor.  You can still turn it on when you need it for the closet.
We got the premier package on our next couple of sailings on the Crown.  I don’t really think it’s going to be worth it, though, without a much of a choice of casual dining venues.
    Thanks again!

    Glad to help some.

Happy that our Solar Eclipse cruise is on the Discovery and not one of these ships.  I agree that the Premier Package isn't really worth it on several of the Princess ships.  They just don't offer much and basically next to no casual dining venues like Gigi's, etc.  There is just nothing!!!  We missed the concierge lounge from the Discovery being in the full suite.  Honestly I said probably never again unless they do some upgrading to these other/older ships.  Never thought I'd feel this way.

Yes those crazy lights were also by the nightstands that would come on.  We had to put tape over those sensors also.  I get the thought process with these but what a pain.  I don't want to have to put a pillow over it and found the tape worked well.

  14. Cruise Raider we were on the Crown in October so a few months ago.  The Salty Dog Bistro Pub was the only offering and was in the evening.  So nothing during the day.

Yes at that time in Vines that was what was offered later in the afternoon.  Most people just got food from the IC I noticed.  Only saw a couple people order the charcuterie board with whatever came with it.  Honestly I didn't pay much attention.

We were in a PH suite and no USB ports were installed in it either.

Yes that irritating motion sensor light would come on.  Worst was the ceiling one outside the cabin door.  We took some blue painters tape with us to cover it up.  It would just come on in the middle of the night which was crazy.

  15. Toni so sorry to read you came home with Covid.  After reading your post we both tested and they came back negative, thankfully.  I do appreciate you letting those of us from the cruises know.

On the other side it was so nice to meet you, finally, near the end of the cruise.  Wish it had been sooner.

Take care and hopefully you are over this soon.

We did set up a time and place on the roll call; 5:30 in the card room after sailaway.

We're in 7049. Please call us or leave a note on the door. We'd love to get together.

    Toni

Must have totally missed that post. Was so busy before we left. Will contact you. Are you in the same cabin next cruise or do you move?

  17. Was so sorry to miss the M&G on this cruise on the Onward.  I look at people as we walk by and wonder if they were on the roll call.  Never heard the announcement from Eric about it since we didn't have our TV on whenever he announced it.  Wish we could have set up a time and a place at least before we got on the ship since we knew it would not be sponsored with Azamara.  This was disappointing.

Other than the rough weather and the rain today in San Juan it has been a good cruise.  Staff is exceptional and the food has been fine.  I've seen some people that have been disappointed with it, but what they didn't like I don't find to be an issue.  So far so good.

  18. Yes these suites are under the pool deck and near the cones/pizza area.  There are tables above which normally helps some.  We have stayed in these suites several times and never heard noise like we did on this particular cruise.  It was the worst for this.  I'm sure it was carts that do make a lot of noise.  Wasn't so bad it disturbed us, but it was noticeable.
