Family group of 16 will be on the Escape from Rome to Venice, June 26 - July 3. Would appreciate any information about transfers from Rome hotel to the NCL cruise port in Civitavecchia.  And also best/easiest way to get from Trieste port to Venice.

Whew, a group of 16! We are boarding Escape July 3. Can't wait. The train to Venice might be a good option to book in advance. https://www.trenitalia.com/en/purchase.html

    Have fun!

Can upgrade to a club balcony suite from a regular balcony stateroom for about $200. The trip is for a special occassion. Is it worth it to move up? Heard it's a much nicer bathroom, is that true? What are you favorite perks of a Club Balcony Suite? Thank you!

If the cruise is full the early booking of shows will be a huge benefit!

  3. Good info here, we will be visiting next July, in Valletta port from 7AM to 1PM so a whirlwind tour is in store. Thinking the best bet is grab a taxi for 5 hours first thing and head to Mdina then Ghar Lapsi to snorkel a bit, visit Mnajdra / Hagar / Blue Grotto and back to Hypogeum. The archeological sites all open at 10AM which makes the whirlwind even more challenging. Is that possible? Any other ideas?

So yes it's totally my fault for not checking properly before booking. But my cruise says docking in St thomas 7am-1pm

Can anyone tell me if this means back on the ship for 1 or leaving? Seems super short? I was hoping to book Sunfari tours but it seems like that's a really tight time frame to really do anything. Is that enough time to explore? What time would you need to be on the ship for? Thanks for reading this ramble and for any help.

For some local vibe you could try Brewers Bay beach, a beautiful slice of paradise but limited services, it's only 2 miles from the dock, take a cab but be aware it might take a bit to catch one back from there, get the cab phone #, or you could walk back. The locals go to snorkel with the ever present sea turtles there. I think food trucks are around too.

I'm trying to find pictures of the aft balconies, specifically junior suites, on Voyager. In the pics I've found, it seems like a lot of these aft balconies have somewhat obscured views because of the ship's superstructure. One of the pics I saw almost looked like a cave. We've only been in one aft junior suite and that was on Serenade, which was a wide-open but deep balcony. Are there not any like that on Voyager?  Or what would be the best aft junior suite balcony?

  7. Interesting tech discussion but back to the OP, on upcoming cruise I plan on using a blue tooth speaker and will play occasionally at low volume for ambiance. No rap, metal, or hip pop, just cool ocean vibes, Sven Van Hees comes to mind ✌️

Oh here's a crazy story, last summer I was at Zion, hiking in the Canyons and a kid behind us cranks up dumb jams on a boom box. I told him God's music was a lot better... took him a few minutes to get it and he turned it off.. yay!

When we were on the Getaway in October, a bartender told us the UBP "value" was being raised from 89/pp/pd to 99/pp/pd which I figured was to just collect an additional gratuity/service charge, but he also said he thought it would come with more drinks available on the UBP like Hendrick's Gin, which went from $14.95 2 years ago to $16.95 last year to now $19.95. We got on the Bliss in December to see more upcharges, not less.

The whole bottle is $35.  There is a serious issue when a bottle of $35 gin is considered super premium and raised $5 in a year, and the UBP raised as well. When we started cruising in 2016, we paid about $200 for the service charges on the UBP.  It is now up to about $275 with a smaller selection. We still get it because my husband likes his beverages on a cruise, but the constant upcharges and ridiculous pricing on some liquor brands makes us less likely to book with NCL in the future if they continue raising their pricing.  We love the vibe of NCL but when you know they are gouging you on pricing, it makes it less enjoyable. If we chose not to do the UBP, the individual cost of a lot of the drinks is ridiculous!

you really can't make a great martini without Hendrick's gin... so I guess those are out of the question, grrr
