The Canterbury area in Kent is a great place to visit, it is a world Heritage site and the Cathedral dates form 597AD. Trains are from Victoria/Waterloo east and stagecoach buses from Victoria coach station, about a 1 and 1/2 hour journey. Here is the Official tourism website address

Hope you find plenty to do

Just off the Britannia and Yes it did have Bits in the orange juice
-
Just back from sailing on Britannia. Embarkation time 3pm, turned up at 1pm. Had to wait until 2.55pm for check in. People who turned up at their allocated time clearly took priority. Wish I had just turned up at 3.
Also just back from the Britannia, Embarkation time 2:30 pm (E (10) Deck Aft), turned up at 1:10 pm and was on board and in cabin by 1:35 pm. Heard on board from people who had to wait 2 to 3 hours to board. Last year on Ventura 3:30 pm boarding turned up at 2 pm and was on by 3 pm, went to the cabin and was watching as the queue to board was actually outside the terminal building and the Ship was delayed sailing because they couldn't board all the passengers in time. I really don't understand the way this thing works.

What is the distance between the port in Cork to downtown?
Between port in Dublin and downtown?
Also Belfast, Glasgow, Invergordon and Edinburgh
Trying to figure out how much to get in euros and pounds for cab fares and small misc. charges.
Thanks Lynn
In Cork you should berth in COBH right next to the train station, the train is at 30 minutes past the hour and takes about 25 minutes and is about 6 or 7 euros single. There is also another berth nearby called Ringaskiddy but I know nothing of this berth so cannot help if you are at this one, you will have to check where you going to be.

I have done 3 FO and 3P&O so far and have enjoyed the majority of them. They are two very different experiences, withP&O providing far more varied entertainment and food choices and FO havinga lot more personal interaction with staff and the ability to get into smallerless visited ports without the use of a tender. As stated already you will notget the larger cabins with FO that you get with P&O, FO tend to charge apremium for balcony cabins, however with both companies the cabins were always kept immaculate. Food inthe main dining rooms for both lines was pretty equal, however for 2 birthdaysspent on-board FO the free birthday cake and the singing of ‘Happy Birthday’ bythe wait staff was much enjoyed. I wouldhave no problem travelling on FO again, but I don’t think I could do anythingover 7 nights on any of their current ships due to the limited availability ofcheaper balcony cabins and lack of entertainment variety, but I would definitelyrecommend them for a short trip. TheDrink prices on FO when we travelled was pretty much on par with P&O, but Ibelieve they now do drinks packages which are supposed to be really good value.
-
But I think you've convinced me to go all-inclusive. It's just funny that there isn't the option for me to add it online - it gives me the options of pretty much every type of drinks package apart from the all-inclusive ones.
Beamafar is correct this is from the MSC UK website
Refresh yourself with great savings
We’ve created an array of great-value drinks packages to offer you the choice of refreshment that most appeals to you, from soft drinks to fine wines and premium beers. Our all inclusive cruise options and numerous drinks packages give you carte blanche to quench your thirst whenever you like and can be combined with a huge selection of cruise holidays. So go on, give yourself the gift of total relaxation!
Note: the all inclusive drinks package is not available on cruises of less than 4 nights duration.
Hope this helps.

Does anyone know just where the cruiseships dock in Portsmouth. Do they dock in the same area as the ferries?
Yes they do at Portsmouth International Port (PIP)
-
Thanks again, sirs!
DH & I enjoy scenic walks and photography as well as history.
There are a couple of RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) reserves near Bognor Regis that are well worth a visit
and
With apologies to Londown Towner a Quick one to help with SATNAV if you use it, the shopping centre in Portsmouth near the Historic Dockyard is Gunwharf Quays not Gunpowder Quays.

Would you know the cost from the cruise port to Gatwick?? Thank you
Sent from my iPhone using Forums
today the price was quoted at £74 for two people, that's to Gatwick or Heathrow.
-
I am familiar with many of the recommended car services but is there a
preferred one for Portsmouth. This port of embarkation is new for us. Thanks.
We use Smiths for airports (A Portsmouth based company) for all our Airport and Cruise travel, nice cars, good drivers and reasonably priced as well.
-
Will be on the Independence of the Seas next May to Canaries. Arriving at Gatwick from Toronto, Canada. What is the best option to get to the port and back?
Will be on the same cruise as you, there is a small roll call started here, if you feel like joining in
-
We used Smith for airports. Highly recommended and very competitive prices. We paid cash after the ride.
Totally agree we use Smiths for all our Airport and Cruise travel, nice cars, good drivers and reasonably priced as well.

If you use the UK website and just go for the cabin type you require, it will give you a list of some of the available cabins, normally 20-30 plus, here is the linky https://www.royalcaribbean.co.uk/?__EGS_SSLX hope this helps.

I have a question for you. I'm driving down from Heathrow to Southampton for my trip in October.
I've been to Stonehenge and not really into Castles. I've also been to the New Forest.
What would you recommend I go touristing at on the way down.
Thanks all.

Sorry can't help with transport arrangements.
The weather should be fine as soon as you get past the Bay Of Biscay, which can be a bit bumpy, but it can be like that at any time of the year. Have a great cruise.
-
not an expert -only 2nd RCL cruise coming up, but if its from RCL I wouldn't be worried . The reason I was worried was mine was just a footnote on an invoice for a TA.
I would have been as well, having had similar issues with TA invoices previously, glad its all sorted for you now have a great cruise.
-
Is it a RCL invoice or one created by an agent?
RCCL, so not really worried, or should I be
-
The codes vary by cruise. Mine are YGH5 & YGJ5 on the customer copy invoice.
Robin
My invoice say Allinc & BOGOHO on two seperate lines and deducts two varying amounts of money but I have not got any YG** codes listed any where on my invoice ????

Just reading our documentation and it says boarding from 10:30 till 2:30, sail at 4pm.
What would everyone guess is best time to avoid queues?
Cheers.
Someone posted this about a month ago on one of these threads, sorry can't remember which one, but I think it was for boarding the Independence of the Seas. I don't know if they are still doing it.

I notice your times are slightly different, so cannot say for sure if they are still using this approach. If they are not, I agree with previous posters and you should try to get there as early as possible. Cabins are usually ready by about 1 o'clock but you can always get something toeat and a drink before hand.
Hope this helps.

Generally, they lay on a bus to Blankenburge in Zeebrugge where you can get a train to Brugges, It runs hourly to brugge and twice hourly back, costs 3 euro each way and takes about 15 minutes.

Amsterdam is a ten/fifteen minute walk to Central station on a fairly level road.
