  1. Aww, she wanted to do the animals! I wonder, though, if their supervisors to a "spot check" and if there wasn't a towel animal, she could have been reprimanded. So she figured it would have been easier to just do them than have to explain that the guest told them to keep the animals.

Its funny because when they announced the option of 1 or 2 times a day service I was thinking that while its very nice to have the room tidied and would surely miss those towel animals.

Such a treat when you return to your cabin after dinner to fine your fuzzy visitor.

  2. We leave for our cruise in 7 days and today, I was looking over deck plans of the Splendor to make myself familiar. I thought I had read that this ship was originally built for another cruise line so its a bit different than our former cruises. Does anyone know if the liner pool is adult only like the sky pool on the conquest?

Yes it is! There is a bar right there and the Serenity area is one deck above and overlooks the Liner pool

  3. Hi all,

Where does The SPlendor dock when it goes to Belize and Roatan?

What is there to do at each port that is not an excursion?

We were looking at doing Margaritaville in Grand Cayman and Mr. Sanchos or Paradise Beach in Cozumel.

How safe would it be to venture out on your own from the Belize port or Roatan port to snorkel if you have your own gear?

I don't believe its a good idea to venture out on your own in Belize! There is a small area where the tender boats dock that has some restaurants and shops, but hardly worth it to ride a 30 minute tender to get to these.

    best to have an excursion.

Roatan is a beautiful island. I haven't experience of snorkeling there but you should check out the Ports of Call Forum for these ports. Lots of good tips can be found there.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  4. That's what the Carnival web site says. But last September out of Miami my brother and SIL had a time on there Fun Pass (1:30 I think). They had not signed up for it but it was there.

They asked me what time we were getting on and I said we would be at the port around 11. There was no time on our Fun Pass. They called their TA who double checked with Carnival and were told that their ship cards would not be available to the check in agents until the time listed on their boarding pass.

I'm platinum so get priority boarding. We arrived at 11 and went straight through the check in procedure.

    Charlie

I received an email previously about a 1:00 pm check in, but was able to check in earlier than that.

As I cruise my way to Platinum status I purchase FTTF. Platinum/Daiamond and FTTF may "Check in at their leisure" per CCL website.

Anybody know when they are rolling this out for Port Canaveral? Cruising out of there in July

  5. I know this has been asked here several times but I just don't seem to be able to find it right now.

I have a family member that will just happen to be in Orlando the same day we disembark and I am going to try to meet up with them for breakfast before our 11 hr drive home. I need to set up something with then ahead of time since I won't have cell service while on the cruise.

What is a reasonable time that we should be off the ship and in our vehicle? We will be doing parking in one of the park and cruise lots or a local hotel.

Since you have FTTF you will have priority disembarkation. If you do self assist you can leave as soon as they start the disembarkation process.

Along those lines, do I remember that we can check in around 10:30?

Yes you should be able to check in at that time.

    We will have FTTF.

    Enjoy your cruise!

    Thanks

    Hope this helps

  6. Sooooo- I normally cruise with my nieces or friends. My nieces are pre teen and my friends are my age- clearly different cruises. So we have a short cruise coming up with me and my nieces and my brother (their dad) and his wife (sister in law). Apparently new wife is artsy crafty and has cruised a bit in her own right. She makes these really cool foil key chains made of bits from her past cruises. Apparently she thinks she can lay these out on her pool chair and sell them to other cruisers. I don't know of any policy that says no but that seems like a big no to me. I am sharing a cabin with a few of the kiddos and frankly I just don't want to get kicked off the boat mid cruise because she has gone all HSC on them.

Maybe you should nudge her to sell her wares on a site such as ETSY. I have also seen a venue that sells cruise items on social media.

  7. I have been looking at the Carnival Splendor for our next cruise. Through my reseach I have seen its going to dry dock here in a few weeks. Does anyone know what all upgrades is going to be done on her? Is it going to be like Sunshine was done, a total change??

We have sail on the Dream, Liberty, Freedom,Valor,Breeze and just got off the Sunshine. We know for sure that we don't want to go back on the Sunshine. IT wasn't a bad cruise at all it was just to small for us and people was everywhere. We like the bigger ships.

Thanks for all the help. Trying to get some more info on the Splendor...

Nobody knows for sure, but word is not a total 2.0 upgrade. The ship will be moving to Asia.

The splendor is big, and we very much enjoyed our cruise on her!

  8. Heat and humidity, according to my doctor, are major factors in swollen ankles, feet, and hands.

    LuLu

I agree with the doc! For years when I vacationed in Florida (July) I would have swollen ankles.

Last year I moved to Clearwater and during the summer months my ankles are swollen a lot. Same situation when I am cruising.

Water intake does help, and I try to elevate my legs at night.

  9. You don't say who is traveling and I think that can make a big difference.

My husband and I went in the Splendor in Feb. It was an Anniversary. Trip. No KIDS. We had a Spa room and Loved our cruise. I really liked the retractable roof because we had rain on Super Bowl Sunday.

There were no super slides etc. That might change with Drydock. Serenity deck is super quiet, but doesn't have a pool. Might be why it is so quiet.

I would sail the Splendor again.

There is a small pool between the 2 hot tubs on the serenity deck.

  10. I'm not typically OCD, except when it comes to trips! I overpack, repack, and constantly check to see if I have everything.

Years ago we stayed on Southbeach prior to a cruise, when we got in the room I placed our passports and money in the room safe. When we arrived at the cruise terminal I realized my blunder. Mad dash to grab a taxi and back to the hotel!

Luckily it all worked out. Made it back to the ship.

  11. They can't make you keep your doors open! I mean, what if you wanted to sleep, get dressed... have sex? Close the doors and leave the fans on. I'd find out who put the fans there and tell them not to leave the door open again. But have a couple of drinks first so you get back into vacation mode! :)[/quot

OMG. Yes I know people have sex on a cruise, but just spit my coffee at the image of someone having sex with the door opened! Perhaps the issue would be resolved quickly if someone saw this.

Joking aside, OP, I sincerely hope your issue get resolved to your satisfaction and you can get back to enjoying your cruise!
