  1. Just an FYI. The new Northern Lights coupon book has been published and does not include Alaskan Railroad coupon for Anchorage to Whittier and also does not include Juneau Whale Watch. I do not know of other coupons not published as those are the two I was most interested in for vacation next June.

  2. We are flying to Anchorage from DFW next June for a cruise. Currently, AA has a flight with a great price with a layover in Seattle for 1 hour and 45 minutes, is that enough time? I have only flown on direct flights so I am not aware of how much time to allow. Thanks for any input.

  3. I am so excited to read your review, we are booked on the Coral SB Alaska for June 13, 2018 for our 40th anniversary. We also live in Texas (Burleson) and I have no idea what clothes to bring to Alaska! I have gotten our jackets and coats when they were on clearance but I will be making a list as I read along. Thank you for doing such a detailed review as I also LOVE the planning although I can be a tad OCD.

  4. Thank you for your review, we did this same cruise last September although we did stop in St, Lucia. It was one of our most favorite ports of all the places we have been. If you get a chance to get there it is definitely worth it.

This itinerary wore us out also with all the port visits. We decided to stay in San Juan for a couple of days after the cruise just to lay on the beach and relax before flying home.

  5. I cover our luggage tags in packing tape at home. I cut off the parts that say, "Do Not Cut", fold them in half, wrap them, punch a hole in each one, and put them and zip ties in the folder with all of our cruise documents. The morning of embarkation, we attach the tags to our luggage at the hotel and head to the ship.

That's exactly how I do mine, works great!

  6. We sailed on Valor last week and were in cabin 8331 and it was the noisiest cabin were have ever experienced. It was right below Guy's Burgers with the wood planked flooring and we heard chairs scraping all day and ALL NIGHT LONG. I got up one night at 3:00 am and called the maintenance department to asked if they would please stop the noise. Granted I am a light sleeper but I wore earplugs, had a travel fan on and was still awakened constantly.

  7. Hi all,

Leaving tomorrow for our long awaited B2B on Adventure. Since we have bought an internet package for both weeks I will do a live report, also pre-cruise. If I can figure out how to download pictures on my MacBook and if I can figure out how to post them here, it will be a report with pictures (if the internet on board Adventure is fast enough). I bought a new camera for this trip, a Nikon D3300, with filters and all, so I hope those pictures will turn out nothing less than awesome!

We leave Brussels tomorrow and fly to New York. We were supposed to fly straight on to San Juan, but a schedule changed messed that up. We arrive in New York at 1.30 pm and were supposed to fly on to San Juan at 3pm. Two different bookings, so there is no way we were gonna make that with only 90 minutes between the two, considering immigration, picking and dropping off our bags again and security. I got the nice people at Delta to change my New York to San Juan flight to Thursday at 8.10 am. I upgraded to business for that leg as a gift to my mom. She is turning 65 in October and this is her birthday cruise. She is the best mom in the world, has been my cruise mate for a while and deserves to fly in style. We fly a across the pond in Economy Comfort.

Our hotel in New York is the Fairfield Inn and Suites JFK Airport and in San Juan we are spending two nights in the Ciqala Luxury Suites.

Our background:I am well-traveled, especially to the USA. This will be my 11th time traveling to the USA. Just hope they let me in :-). I usually travel with my mom, whom will turn 65. As I said, the best mom and the best travel mate you can find. She always cracks me up.

For me it will be cruise number 8 and number 9, our last cruise was in 2012 so I am pretty excited. For mom it will be cruise number 6 and 7, she skipped my B2B on the Freedom.

I love cruising, probably like most of you reading this. It is the most comfortable way to travel and to see a lot of different countries in a short amount of time.

We met two very nice couples on our 2012 cruise to the Norwegian Fjords. They were our table mates at dinner. We have made a trip with them to Yellowstone in 2014 and they will cruise with us again this year. I consider them good friends, can't wait to see them again. They are doing the first cruise.

We are traveling with a third couple whom we met on our very first cruise, in 2009 to Alaska, an awesome 14 days repo cruise. They were our table mates and we kept in touch all this time. They decided to join us for mom's birthday cruise, doing the B2B with us. Can't wait to see them all again. I already know this is gonna be one fun table in the MDR.

About the cruise: We didn't book any drink packages, as I don't drink any alcohol and drink about 2 cans of coke a day. I am mostly a water drinker and I find the ships water to be fine.

We didn't book any excursions either, the only plan we have is going to Maho Beach in St. Maarten and watch the big birds land.

We are staying in Cabin 8314 for both legs, which is a hump balcony and our first balcony ever. We usually travel in insides, because it is enough for our needs and cheapest way to travel. Since the rates changed so often, and the balcony became cheaper than what we had originally booked, we decided to book one. I am really looking forward to sipping my coffee on our balcony in the morning and sitting there to do my live report.

If anyone has questions, I'll try to answer them all.

As for the itinerary, I am too lazy too look it up. I'll post it later. It is 6.40 am, so I should probably be asleep.

First post overseas will probably be from our NY hotel, totally jet lagged and crazier than ever. So bear with me and excuse me ahead of time if I sound silly.... (oh wait, I forgot, I am silly). Oh well, carry on, nothing to see here....

We will be in cabin 8318 on the same cruise leaving on the 10th!

  8. We have used cash on every cruise we have taken on RCCL & Carnival. When checking in to get our cards we tell the person we will be using cash and have had no problems. Once we board the ship we go to Customer Relations and put down a $600 deposit. We check our account daily and adjust as necessary by putting more money down if needed. Hope this helps and enjoy your cruise!:D

  9. I could never book that far out:eek::eek:

Unless, I had a few booked in between.....

That would be brutal watching that countdown clock....:D:D

I'm struggling to just get through the next 20 days...:D

It is BRUTAL! I book our 09/10/16 cruise on Adventure at 523 day out. But we are down to 89 days before we go to San Juan so I'm getting excited :D

  10. Usually American will cancel flights if they don't fill the plane which is what happened to us when we flew to San Juan for our cruise. We opted to go 2 days ahead of time. Another couple flew in 3 days before and the other two flew in the day before. All were direct flights. It has been a while so not familiar with the daily flights as of present. But our original was changed after we booked it when we went.

By the way, hello fellow Burlesonite. Good to see other cruisers from our hometown. Let us know if you need any information, Adventures of the Seas is a nice ship. Our next one is on Brillance in August for a Greek Isles Cruise.

    Howdy!!

  11. I bit the bullet and book our flights. I booked direct flights to San Juan from DFW two days prior to the cruise and leaving San Juan the day after.

I do not like to do connecting flights and the price difference was not that much lower. I'm satisfied with my decision and I thank y'all for your opinions.

  12. We did Bernard's tour in 2009 and went to the Iguana Farm. I am glad they removed it because it was so gross. It was basically a nasty pond with iguana's and chickens in and out of the water.

We enjoyed the rest of his tour though especially the free rum punch ;)

  13. Ok thank you!! I was just looking on their site and the gift cards to see if that would work also. I seen where you can purchase the photo cash in advance. U guy's are a big help:)

We always use cash. When you check in to get your sea card they will ask you for the credit card you would like to use for your account. Just tell them you will be using cash and when you get on the ship go to the Customer Relations desk and tell them you want to put cash down for your account. We always start with $600 and add if we need to but we both drink.

It saves a big hassle of using a debit card or if you are running low on your available credit on your credit card.

Also, if you are going to use a card MAKE SURE you call the card company prior to the cruise to let them know you will be cruising. We made this mistake before and it was not fun.
