Do you think that the staff on Divina will agree with me if I say that I shall get what's included in the Deluxe package? If yes, how do I know what that is now when the menues are changed?

MSC in Sweden has told me that no package is included but drinks are included! I know but what's included!!!!

Hi to you sverigecruiser from another cruise junkie in Stockholm 😃
My clear advises: 1) Make sure you get everything sorted out here back home before you embark the ship!  2) Get it in writing!

I'm sorry, but the staff onboard the vessel (MSC Divina) will not agree with you at all...if you cannot prove what you're saying. You must have everything clarified in your booking!

I find it very strange when you claim that the MSC office here in Sweden says "that no package is included but drinks are included! I know but what's included!!!!"
So - get it sorted out...and get it in writing 🤓  Happy cruising!
(Myself, I have a lot of experience from MSC Cruises... 👀  Have even cruised onboard NCL, RCCL/RCI, Celebrity and HAL ...so far... 🛳️😀)

  2. Hi from Stockholm, Sweden 😘 It's interesting reading your review; about the MSC cruise product as well as see how you find the different cities. Really looking forward to your continuation.

Regrettably MSC Meraviglia is too BIG 😵 for sailing through the fantastic Stockholm archipelago (which consists of 24 000 islands...) and the journey from the open sea in to the city centre takes around 5 hours.

I am quite sure that the ship went to Nynashamn (aprox 65 kilometers = 40 miles SOUTH of Stockholm), or to Norrtalje (approx 70 kilometers = 43 miles NORTH of Stockholm), and that you had to go by a guided tour - or onboard a commuter train - to the city centre.

I have been sailing onboard MSC Cruises a number of times; however  -  it's not my favourite cruise line company (and all their BIG, new ships I doen't like at all) 🙄 We've even cruised onboard NCL, RCI, Celebrity and HAL.... 😀 The smaller ships the better!

  3. Great; you've been upgraded from an inside- to a balcony cabin 😀 And you will for sure keep the cabin for the whole cruise!
However; obviously the cabin you booked was a BELLA experience cabin....and the new balcony cabin is a FANTASTICA experience....and the perks included in the Fantastica experience will not be transferred (as you had booked Bella from the beginning).
yre you going onboard MSC Bellissima (from BCN), aren't you?

  4. The Swedish site has the same problems - and had it for a very long time 😱 Myself, I’ve tried for more than a month to sign in! Always get the same message 😡

Today, it’s only 13 days left to the vessels’s departure...and I would very much like to do my Web Check-in as well as book some excursions

  5. Here some info about MSC Preziosa - found on Facebook today
I will sail Transatlantic on the ship from Nov 24th (Barcelona) - Dec 8th (FDF/Martinique) ⛴️ (This will not be my first cruise onboard Preziosa. - and I will check if I can see any changes/renovations made) 🧐

My problem now is that MSC's WEB Check-in is "out of order"; and has been so for a looong time! ☠️
I would prefer to print out the tickets and do the Check-in before departure...

  6. Hello from Sweden.  Within 18 days from now we will depart onboard MSC Preziosa.  However, we're having really big problems to log in to the Web Check in (at MSC's web page) 😭
We've tried to do this for approximately one month now 😬
We constantly get the message: "Web Check-in procedure has failed. Please Check your information....".
Somebody else having this problem as well? (
    Thanks!

Our MSC Cruise next year cost around $7000. If we decide to fly in business class the flight will cost around $3500.

Hej sverigecruiser - another Stockholm citizen here [emoji6]

Around $7000 sounds rather expensive to me...

Even though I guess you’ve booked YC and that the rate is for the two of you?! Depends on the season & area as well (when/where are you going?). Which ship (one of the very new ones, I guess)?

Myself, I often look at cruise prices at the German market...and always find them (much) more expensive than here in Sweden/Scandinavia.

I cruised myself around 30 times onboard Kloster/NCL (our first one was onboard SS Norway from MIA in May -92, of course - as I’m a Norwegian [emoji3]), MSC many times (never YC, though), RCI, Celebrity and HAL.

While the ships tend to be larger and larger [emoji33], my wife and I prefer the smaller/mid-sized vessels ourselves.

  8. Hi from Stockholm!

I've done both the itineraries - and the Baltic Sea is absolutely great (especially my home town Stockholm  ). Off course St Petersburg is interesting in many aspects, however, one day is maybe too short time. (And personally, I will never go back to Russia due to dictator Putin and his aggressive behavior, i e the annexation of Krim Ukraine, the persecution of dissidents and the press etc, etc).

Even though I am a Norwegian (from Oslo) myself, I must say that our cruise 3 years ago to the Norwegian fjords (we departured onboard MSC from Copenhagen) was maybe the very best - and most impressive cruise - we ever did...so far! The landscape is breathtaking! (I've cruised approx 30 times - around the world.)

My clear advise: Book the cruise to the Norwegian fjords - you will not be disappointed :)

  9. Came back to Tampa, onboard MS Oosterdam, exactly one week ago. Visited the same destinations. Was our very first cruise onboard HAL (had previously done NCL, MSC, RCI and Celebrity), we had a nice aft balcony cabin (deck 7). Conclusion: Our best best cruise ever, so far! Will absolutely book HAL again [emoji106] Merry Christmas [emoji268]from Stockholm, Sweden [emoji1236]

  10. Thank you so very much for your great review and the outstanding pictures! It has been great to follow you :)

I am a Norwegian myself (though living in Stockholm, Sweden), and we did the same cruise onboard MSC Musica in June 2013.

I am very surpriced about the snow conditions you met during your trip - however, the winter has obviously been a tough one up there.

When we went on the same cruise, the weather was really nice & sunny; in fact I was wearing shorts during every stop the whole week... But that it - I would say - typical Norwegian summer weather

I believe that you returned back to Kiel (Germany) this weekend.

Because today (Mondag 13th July) MSC Orchestra is here in Stockholm :D

Looking forward to follow your cruises even in the furure! Thanks again!

  11. Your review is really great, I love it! And the map you did was fantastic! So informative and exciting to study

When we did the same cruise 2 years ago (onboard MSC Musica), even we went by the Flöibanen in Bergen up to the top...and had a great walk back - through the hills and narrow streets. You experience so much more when you walk - than sitting in a boring vehicle

When the ship during our cruise arrived Flåm, we took the train up to the top (i e Myrdal), and when returning we went by the train a couple of stations only. Then we left it and walked (about 15 kilometers) down the magnificent valley/landscape, with waterfalls, some sheep/cows; old wooden houses and even an old local church…and not at least a beautiful environment.

I will recommend you to do that

  12. Hi, greetings from Stockholm (Sweden). I read in your intro that you years ago spent some time at the University in Linköping (which is approx 200 kilometers s/w of Stockholm). Actually I am an Norwegian (from Oslo), though living here in Stockholms for the last 27 years. (I met the love of my life, off course - and she is now my wife. We met in Berlin...but that is another story... )

Thank you very much for your very interresting and thorough "report"...and all the really great photos. It's really ossom

We did the same cruise a couple of years ago:

    2013, June - 7 nights: "MSC Musica" // Copenhagen - Kiel - Hellesylt/Geiranger - Flam - Bergen - Oslo - Copenhagen

MSC Musica is one of the 3 sister ships to MSC Orchestra; they're more or less identical.

Although we had been to the fjords before (all Norwegians have, I believe), we had only been there by car. The fantastic experience of cruising with a cruise ship into the landscape and the deep fjords can't be described - it has to be experienced! It was one of our absolut best travel experiences so far, I would say (and we have been travelling a lot).

When approaching the fjords, I will recommend you to wake up very early in the morning and then go out at the upper deck (allthough even the sight is great from your balcony). There will be a lot of passengers there (although it is very early), with their cameras and coffee mugs. I really do hope that the weather will be sunny and nice!

We will be happy sooner (!) or later to go on a new cruise to some of the fjords - and/or even more north along the Norwegian coast - and actually I would like to book "Mein Schiff 4" myself (which I saw at your pictures from Kiel). After been living two years in Germany (Köln, Kiel, Bremen), I speak the language - which maybe is an advantage - however, not a must - when going on a cruise onboard a German cruise ship. (Anyway, Germany is a really great country for spending holidays; the landscape, the architecture in the old cities, the food and the wine/beer, etc.)

Looking forward to your "reports" and photos to come! Enjoy!

Bon voyage! (In Norwegian: "God tur!". In Swedish: "Trevlig resa!")

  13. Hi from Stockholm, Sweden!

I am a (real) Norwegian :) coming from Oslo. My wife and I will soon do our first NCL cruise onboard the Norwegian Jade departing from Venice (Italy) May 23rd.

Have been reading many of the posts and naturally enjoyed the many great pictures.

Now I am really looking forward to our NCL cruise :p

    Bye for now!

  14. ..... does anyone know how long the flight is back from Buenos Aires to the UK ?

Hi, the flight time from Buenos Aires to London Heathrow is 13h 32min. The distance is 11,114 km / 6,906 miles.

    This according to: http://www.flight-durations.com/

My wife and I flew ourselves some years ago from Stockholm - Buenos Aires and return, with stopover and change of aircraft in Madrid (we flew Iberia).

Yes, it was quite a long time up in the air

  15. Hello!

Just read at the internet that there will be a press conference in Paris (France), coming Thursday March 20th:

Two big new MSC ships are to be built at the STX Shipyard in Saint Nazaire in France.

And furthermore, the preliminary info says the following about each of the new ships:

    * 160-170 tons.

    * 5000 passengers.

    * 2000 crew members.

    * 315 m long.

    * Only Oasis- and Allure of the Seas will be larger than the new MSC vessels.

    * The lenght of the ships will make it possible for them to visit most of the existing harbours (which is not possible of the Oasis and Allure).

    * The cost of each ship: Euro 700 million (USD 975 million)

Exciting news! Awaiting for more to come :)

  16. Looking forward to your reports from the cruise :)

I was onboard MSC Armonia in November, on the 9-nights re-positioning cruise from Venice to Las Palmas. It was great, especially because I had a suite by my own :p

There were only approx 1.000 passengers onboard (50% occupation). The atmosphere was very familiar. Most of the passengers came from UK and Germany...and additionally some others (we were only a very few from the Scandinavian countries).

I would love to go again... For sure, I will go on more re-positiong cruises in the future. The only problem is that my wife isn't interested at all (ha, ha).

    Enjoy!
