  1. as mentioned earlier, renting from Budget car rental at the quay on 17th st causeway in FLL is by far the best way. it is very close to the port, they have good prices and great staff. we just did that last saturday.

we live 3 hours away from the port and always rent a car both ways to save money on parking.

when we happen to dock very close to the causeway bridge at port everglades my wife stays with the luggage and i walk over and get the rental car and then pick her up....the traffic inside the port area can be hectic if you are not used to driving in it so a cab may be the best way to go...with tip it should be $ 15 at the most...have a great vacation!

  2. The tour with Patrick in Bora Bora has to be the best, or one of the best, tours we have done on any of our 50 cruises. On Moorea, I suggest hiring a car and driving around the island. In Papeete, it is easy to pick up a tour on the dock.

by far the VERY BEST tour we ever did in 30 plus cruises was Patrick's tour...dont miss it...if you search this site you will see dozens of cruisers who feel the same way...have a great time!

  3. thanks from a fellow Floridian for your thoughts...my wife and i will be on our first river cruise with Viking next March on a similar route....your insights have been very helpful....

we are taking my wife's sister, who recently lost her husband, and we want to make sure everything is as perfect as we can make it for her. you have helped us in that regard.

2 final thoughts...i greatly respect you up beat attitude and i really am impressed that viking cruise line actually responds on these boards..

i can offer you a turkey sandwich on a Kaiser roll if you pass through Sarasota!

  4. we have done 3 B2B cruises in the last 2 years on 3 different princess ships, 2 at port everglades...our experience was the same on each cruise ...never had to go to follow up muster drill for the 2nd part of cruise and the process, as stated, was very efficient. we wanted to get off the ship in each place to resupply our wine and were given "in transit" cards each time to avoid the check in lines when we wanted to re-board....

for us the in- transit thing was a lot of fun and something we really enjoy...

    have a great cruise!

  5. Oh, goodie!:) That is great news. Thanks so much. Do tell about the "challenging passengers" :D Glad you enjoyed your cruise.

    Julie

every cruise we take there seems to be a small minority of passengers that feel compelled to complain about something...on the emerald one has to REALLY look hard to find something that isnt perfect....but as always ...you wiil hear the complainers...

2 examples..guy in the buffet...plate overflowing with food ...packed so high ,if you packed snow on the plate you could ski off it!!! his comment?...the food really has been bad on dis cruise"..

or the crowed dining room with staff working their butts off trying to please the passengers....a table mate's comment?.." i have been here 10 minutes (actually it was 4 minutes)..and they havent take our order yet.. this is totally unacceptable"...

my wife and i found another table....

  6. with regret we just diembarked the emerald on saturday...the ship was in GREAT shape, the crew was wonderful, in spite of some "challenging" passengers...we were in an inside room and it was not difficult to hook a dvd or a camera up to the new television...enjoy your cruise!

  7. we have been on board for 11 days now..we usually do the buffet and generally the quality of food...and service...has been very good...

we are hearing the usual complaints from a FEW passengers who are expecting cunard quality entrees on a lower cost cruise line...

after 30 plus cruises i agree with those who have mentioned food varies from ship to ship..

the phrase about champagne taste on a beer budget comes to my mind..

  8. Wineaux, i have justed finished reading all 26 pages....you are to be commended for your efforts on this year longwonderful story of San pedro....we are staying at the Crown in October and have found your thoughts and suggesttions to be very very helpful...thanks very much, terry
