  1. I will have to try Congee on my next Nova cruise this September.  When on Nova this past December I enjoyed oatmeal more often than eggs, there were so many wonderful accompaniments to add including fantastic fruit, nuts & seeds. I loved the cherry plums & tropical fruit choices. I also felt physically better eating this breakfast. Are there additions to add to congee?

Recently cruised on the Beyond, with 3 people sharing a "double sofa bed" cabin configuration. Double sofa bed means:

    - Sofa has a trundle bed configuration (one bed slides out from under the sofa)

    - A mattress can be put on top of the sofa seating area for a 2nd bed

During our cruise, we never used the trundle bed. I slept on the mattress placed over the sofa seating area. The mattress was kept in place throughout the cruise, even during daytime.

    - The mattress-on-top-of-seating-area was comfortable enough for me. Some people are very fussy about mattresses and may not have the same opinion.

    - This bed was more narrow than a twin bed. I am on the smaller side. A larger person may have an issue with the narrowness of the bed.

    - Because the sofa seatbacks were removed to accommodate the mattress, and the sofa height was increased because of the mattress thickness, the sofa was not particularly comfortable to sit on as sofa seating.

Thank you for such a detailed answer, it is the info I needed ☺️

On our January cruise on Sea, in the Explorer’s Lounge, we encountered the best guitarist we’ve had the pleasure of listening to on Viking. His name was Mark. Unfortunately, about halfway through the cruise, he disappeared. After that, there was no entertainment in the EL except Trivia, which we also enjoy.

I would have been truly disappointed to have a great guitarist entertainer suddenly be gone and not replaced and...  I don't play trivia

We have had a solo guitarist on every one of our eight VO cruises. Varying ability.  But we had one on the Star last month.  I wonder if your glitch was just a contract confusion?  We usually enjoy the guitarist in EL.

I thought so SantaFe1, until it was mentioned on my current roll call that there wasn't a guitarist in October on Mars and we didn't have one in August. It really adds a lot to the Explorer's Lounge ambiance and I would want to know if Viking is cutting back on this form of entertainment.

  5.  Good Day All,

We were on a Viking Ocean cruise this past August and there was not a guitar player entertaining. There had been a guitarist performing on all Viking Ocean cruises we had taken before. When I mentioned about this on my current roll call, a cruiser mentioned they also hadn't had the solo guitarist in October, both trips were on Mars.

Has a solo guitarist been part of the entertainment team onboard a Viking Ocean cruise lately?

I have been working to obtain the visa for Inda for an upcoming Silversea cruise.

Does anyone know what wwe are supposed to use for the Reference name in India, address and phone number?

Not getting any help fro Silverseas on phone or email.

I just obtained an India e-visa for an Uniworld River Cruise on the Ganges... the process was frustrating and took much longer to complete than they let on!  First, do not try to request your visa until you are 30 days or less out from your entrance into India. I did contact Uniworld for the Reference name, address etc... which they provided.

You will need for Silverseas to provide this to you, Good Luck!

Works fine just like the Muse class ships. We have just used it.

I have only been on Spirit with Silverseas and there was one washer/dryer per deck, in a closet space.  We will be on Nova in December, are there more machines in each laundry room?

  8. Wondering... where will the shelves be in the standard cabins for folded clothes? Maybe next to the closet (and some shelves in the closet) with opening in entrance way, where the personal safe will also be? Does anyone know for sure???

As I mentioned before in March 2023 visas were organised by Quest for Vietnam ($20),  I should also add that when we visited Vietnam on the Quest 11 years ago the visas then were also organised by the ship ($6).

Thank you Bpos, I do appreciate your answer. I am asking again because Azamara land office information has said they are not providing the visas for our cruise and we currently do not have this needed Vietnam visa. I am hoping a cruiser that is currently on "Japan Intensive" can ask the onboard personnel if they will be able to obtain Vietnam visas for the April 18th "Springtime in Asia" Voyage for their passengers. I have found during past cruises on many cruise lines, the onboard crew is much more informed and receptive to their cruisers needs, than their land office staff.  Right now the Azamara land office workforce appears to be almost nonexistent. My best chance for a updated answer is a real time inquiry from a cruiser on board Quest now. I hope someone will be able to help that is CURRENTLY on Quest. Thank you in advance!

Hah 😂😂 ‘our friend’ just replied to my message Phil !
Yes the ship can do the visas but they did their own from home!
How good is it to have a finger on the pulse !

    Hi Combine,

Thank you for responding! If you would be so kind to ask... Would your friend's assessment be... we are fine to rely on Quest in April/May 2023 to provide this VISA for us, understanding there is a cost, can you ask them how much per person. I truly Thank you!

I've a couple of friends on Quest now from Ireland and yes, the ship will sort the visas.  This was certainly how it was when I was last there on Azamara, but that was a few years ago.

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

Thank you for responding so quickly!

Did your friends tell you this updated info...  since they boarded Quest? I believe the ship (looking at cruise mapper) is currently in Da Nang. Since the change of Azamara ownership, I'm concerned the current ways of handling logistics, may be different. I have read we are supposed to "do it ourselves" but not wanting to pay unnecessary middleman costs, we have been trying to fill out the form on the site Vietnam Embassy in U.S.A., but it is confusing, not clear how to pick from (too many) choices that are offered in the pull down menus, the correct answer they are looking for!  Anyway... if the ship will do it, that would be preferred and truly helpful!

I'm sure there are destinations (ports) that are fully booked a year or two in advance or with very few available dates.  Certainly, a challenge for a cruise line that is just starting up again and trying to provide people both short term and long term opportunities.  Could also account for a lot of sea days on some trips.

Where they may shine (at start up) and put themselves in a unique position among luxury cruise lines, is to focus on, onboard entertainment, as past Crystal had done. They will need to market this, for cruisers to know, it is still important to the brand. We can't assume anything is similar to original Crystal until we experience first hand or at least... learn through the marketing of the product. The pricing is higher than the original Crystal for a standard cabin and for me... new Crystal so far, has not been detailed enough on what the onboard experience will be.

The Elite Happy hour is no longer at one place but at all bars except Magic Carpet and all restaurants. Your travel companion can't order any complimentary drinks, but your drink benefit is unlimited from 5-7.

Yes, you'll get a discount when purchasing wifi packages.

The Elite breakfast does include juices and smoothies. It's either held in the Tuscan Restaurant or The Bistro. I don't have the times at the moment.

The free thermal suite doesn't apply on Edge class ships nor is there a discount for spa access.

No sidewalk sales of inexpensive items on any Edge Class ship. They do occasionally discount items at the end of each particular season.

World Class Bar may also be excluded from Captain's Club Elite Happy Hour. It would be nice if we can order a complimentary HH drink in the restaurants, if we are there between 5-7pm. I didn't know that was allowed, have you been able to do this?
