  1. We are on the Alaska cruise in May and plan to have breakfast in the buffet. We both like strong, decent, decaffeinated coffee, (Americano).  We never drink any special coffees.  Any tips on getting it there or, can we get a waiter to deliver it from Starbucks and have it charged?  Also cannot  seem to find the cost of a  Starbucks black decaff. Americano anywhere. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

  2. Two questions here.

We are on the Sun's cruise to Alaska next May and have the drinks package. We both drink black coffee, nothing fancy but, we do like it to be good.  Can I get this anywhere on the ship or do we have to pay separately outside the buffet and dining rooms?

Someone mentioned that if you had, say, a Baileys coffee, it would be free because it was in the package, but you had to pay for coffee on its own.  Seems weird.

Is there a Thermal Spa on the Sun? If so, what does it consist of, and can you buy passes for it before we board?

Many thanks for any help you can give

  3. We are on the Canada New England cruise on Sky
in September. It is for 25 days and I looked to see how much the Thermal Suite pass would be. It is for 14 days only and I do not see the point of paying for a straight 14 days. I wondered if you could split it up in to two 7 days or, just use it at any time during the cruise. I know someone posted that they bought it for 7 days and then used it for the whole cruise without being challenged but, I would not wish to risk that. I do not seem to get any straight answers from Princess so wondered if anyone going on Sky Princess in the near future would be kind enough to ask for me actually in the Thermal suite. Many Thanks

  4. Our first time on Sky so can anyone tell me the difference between the three MDRs and which they consider the best?

There are only two of us and most of the time we like to be quiet and eat on our own but, with occasional sharing of tables.

    Many thanks

  5. We are on the Sky Princess in September, a 25 day cruise. Two lots of five days at sea.

These are the questions  I asked about the pass, as it is only showing as available for 14 days:

Can you use it any of the days or does it have to be consecutive?  What happens to the other days?

Two people at Princess have been, unsuccessfully, trying to answer my questions and have now contacted the ship, (well three weeks ago). Still not answered.

Wondered if someone who was sailing on Sky in the near future could ask the questions for me?

I'd be very grateful for any help.

  6. Is there any sign of brandy, (not expensive cognac), being included?

Seems very discriminatory to be able to get any spirit but brandy as part of the inclusive package.

I personally love a brandy after dinner.

There are many cheap brandies about, e.g. Spanish, Metaxia, Three Barrels,  etc.so cannot think why none are included.

Expensive ones could be part of the upgraded package.

    Rant over!!!!

  7. I cannot understand why there is no brandy offered as standard.  It does not have to be "posh" brandy, some French and lots of Spanish & Greek brandies are very good so I would wish this to happen in the future.

After all, those who like a whisky after dinner are well catered for so why not those of us who like brandy?

  8. Our April cruise on the Spirit to China and Japan was cancelled and we received a full refund.  We were also awarded 10% off any future new booking but, this had to be booked by the end of March 2020.

I  recently wrote to NCL in England because this cut off date seemed very unfair that, as most cruises have been cancelled, and under the later "Peace of Mind" agreement, people had several months to choose another cruise.

This is the reply I received:

"You can book your cruise until March 2021 but the sailing need to finish latest December 2022.
Did this sound's better to you?
Until March 2021 we all hope that this nightmare will finish.
    Stay safe.
If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask."

Just in case I had misunderstood I checked again:

    "Thank you for your reply.
This is correct, you can wait until you are comfortable to book another cruise but no later than March 2021.
If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask."

I thought I would post this as many others, like us, may think they have lost the 10%.

    Hope it helps.

  9. Hello from England.

We are in the "lockdown" period here.  We are allowed out to buy supplies and to exercise near to our homes, once a day providing we stay 2 metres apart .

Most people are sticking to this.

It was our Mothers' Day last Sunday but we had to Facetime our children. Better than nothing.

There are several good exercise programmes on the TV which we are trying to follow and, at the moment, although cold at night, we have glorious sunshine during the day so, doing a lot of gardening.

There are lots of humorous videos/jokes going round which make sure that everyone can have a laugh to lighten things.

Last night at 8pm the whole country stood outside and applauded our wonderful health workers in the NHS.

    Keep safe.

  10. Thanks for all your help and comments regarding our first Saga cruise.

We have just received tickets etc. with parts missing and the assistance requested for one of our party missed off.  Our TA is chasing all this up.

I am sure everything will be fine, just not what we have been used to in the past.

By the way, our TA says that Saga is looking into changing their system so everyone can view their bookings online.  Hooray!!

  11. Does anyone know if decaffeinated coffee is readily available on the Saga Sapphire.

We're on her in two weeks, our first Saga cruise and probably, our last.

    Many thanks

I am sure the cruise will be great but, as we booked through a travel agent, we have been unable to access our booking online and therefore have had little, or no, information until today.  In fact, one of our party still has not received anything at all.

Any questions I have asked their helpdeskhave received an automated reply saying, "look at your booking online"  Very useful!  Our TA is also fed up with them as she has to contact them on our behalf about anything we need to know.

I presume we will be asked to complete API at the quay side instead of online.  What a very old fashioned way of doing things.

Currently on the Saga Sapphire. Although many on board are of a certain age , there are a lot of 'younger' ones as well. Dress code not that restrictive. Smart casual is anything that isn't jeans although some people still wear jeans and they don't get locked in their rooms. Formal night had plenty of ballgowns but just 'normal' dresses as well.

Are the men wearing jackets & ties on the formal nights?

  13. We are sailing in late August this year.  The route is Dover, Haugesund, Flam, Skjolden, Stavanger, Dover.

Has anyone any idea about what temperatures will be like in that area and what kind of clothes to take?

Any information would be very welcome.

    Thanks

  14. Some advice please, about formal evenings.

Our first Saga cruise and after 50 years of wearing suits, my husband refuses to wear a suit, or jacket.

Will he have to wear a sports jacket for a formal evening?

Also, will I be able to wear white trousers & a top or does it have to be a dress?

    Many thanks

If you are in the roll call forum (eg https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/298-norwegian-pearl-roll-calls) then you should see a blue dot to the left of the thread title whenever there are unread posts in the thread, as in the screenshot below. This works so long as you have not opened the thread by any other means; once you have done that, then you're likely to find that the unread flag has been reset and the thread title will no longer have a blue dot next to it.

You will see the same if you see your roll call thread in an Activity Stream, whether it's one of the standard ones or one you have set up as a custom Activity Strea,

Thanks for this but I have my roll call bookmarked so it would be a retrograde step to go into the roll call forums.  It used to be very easy to get to the unread items but, it now seems this facility has gone. Perhaps I should suggest this is sorted out but where?, I have trouble finding anything on the new CC!

  16. I have already booked a couple of meals at Le Bistro and am now wondering if it might be better to buy the three dining package.  Can you buy this and keep your original bookings?

Has anyone copies of the menus for all the speciality restaurants or, can you tell me the approximate price of Entrees, so that I can work out what is best to do?

    Many thanks
