I'm cruising in January and am staying for one night at the FLL Airport La Quinta. Looks pretty average but it was the best price I could find (around $200- which is still A LOT to spend one night, IMO). It has a shuttle from the airport to hotel and it looks like there are several restaurants nearby.

Were also staying there in January and only paying $160. for a king room. We've stayed there twice before. The free shuttle is great and you can also get a shuttle to the cruise port in the morning. The room and property are nice. Free breakfast is very good by go early for a table. Lots of people waiting for transportation use this as their lounge area. There are homeless people living in the area. If you walk to a restaurant you will see evidence of this. Didn't feel unsafe walking but make sure you pay attention to your surroundings. Were going to have food delivered for our evening meal or eat at the airport before we arrve.

  2. We have stayed there twice and have it booked again for January 2024. It's a nice clean place, free airport shuttle and a decent breakfast. They will even arrange shuttle to the cruise port. Rooms are spacious with fridge and microwave. Pool and hot tub outside. For the cost it's worth it.

  3. Before our Alaska cruise last August we purchased Nikon Aculon's at Best Buy. Can't remember the exact price but think they were around $30 each. They are 3.5" by 3.5" and very lightweight. They are 10X21 and don't take up much room. Comes with lens caps and a cloth bag. Work great.

  4. It is a clean decent place to stay. The website has pictures of the rooms, lobby, breakfast area and pool and whirlpool outside. Our stay in January will be our third time there. Nice pond outside the Hotel. Go to breakfast early as people like to wait for pickup taking up all the seats in the breakfast area. Also sign up for the shuttle on arrival. If I remember correctly it was $10 each. The shuttle may also be able to take you to a restaurant for dinner.

  5. We are staying at the LaQuinta Airport on 26th Ave. Great price with free airport shuttle and a decent breakfast included. They do arrange shuttle to the port for reasonable fee (I think $20 for both of us). We’re staying there for the 3rd time in January 2024.

  6. I surprised my wife with this 4 years ago on the Regal Princess. It was worth every penny. She received a beautiful bouquet that she still talks about. The ship had a photographer and videographer that documented everything. It was very special and personal and the ceremony was done by the Captain. Also included was a bottle of bubbly, two glasses, choc dipped strawberries, box of chocolates and framed 8 X 10 we got to pick. My only complaint was my wife loved the pics so we ended up buying the package but well worth it. I wanted to surprise her on the ship by after watching a couple of YouTube videos decided to tell her based on how people were dressed. She was very happy as she would not have had the right shoes, dress etc. Go for it you will have nothing but pleasant memories. Also it was just the two of us and ship staff. Very personal. Plus the Captain gave us a tour of the bridge.

  7. Hello. My wife and I will be on the Ruby Princess in August. While in Ketchikan I booked a halibut fishing trip. It's something I have never done before. Just curious if I would be lucky enough to catch one how expensive is it to ship some of it home? I can't bring any back to the ship because I didn't book the fishing with Princess.

  8. My wife and I stayed there for the 2nd time last month. The place is very nice including the beds. There are several restaurants in walking distance. Red Lobster, TGI Friday's and an Italian restaurant. All 3 of these are close to each other and about a 5 minute walk. Just walk to the bridge and turn right and its a short walk. There are also two Mini Marts not to far. Instead of turning left to go back to the hotel turn right. There's a Dunkin Donut in one Mini Mart and the other is across a very busy street. A fair amount of homeless people in the area. Many sleep in the small park and others in the brushy area near the bridge. We felt safe the entire time including at dusk walking back. Late at night I don't know how safe that would be. Only $10. per person for a shuttle ride to the cruise port. Sign up when you arrive.

  9. My wife and I did the vow renewal last fall on the Canada New England cruise. It was very well done and worth every penny. I wasn't planning on telling my wife but ended up telling her as I watched a few clips on YouTube and everyone was dressed up. I was worried she wouldn't have the right clothes along so I told her. She was very happy I did. Princess really does an excellent job at this. My wife loved her bouquet and all the flowers in the Chapel. They did a video and photo montage of everything. We ended up purchasing the photo montage and a greatly reduced rate compared to the first price quote.

  10. I surprised my wife with a vow renewal last September on the Regal Princess on the Canada/New England cruise. I wasn't going to tell her at first but changed my mind after watching a couple of youtube videos and was worried she wouldn't have the right clothes along.

Our renewal was done on the first formal night and it was just the two of us. The Captain performed it in the Chapel on the ship. The flowers were very nice and my wife loved her bouquet. You would think that after 45 years you wouldn't get chocked up be we both did. Everything was very well done. We received a copy of the renewal.

After the renewal the Captain invited us to the bridge where he gave us a tour. There were two younger women one who videoed everything and the other a photographer. While on the bridge it was sunset and the pictures turned out great.

After the bridge the women took many more photos and footage in the atrium and around the ship. Many comments from other passengers who thought we just got married. Also received choice seating at a window in the dining room that evening.

The cost was well worth it especially with all the extras that are included. Read about them in the onboard purchase section. The video and photographer each had packages were could purchase. The video was nice but were really liked the photo montage set to music that the photographer did. We ended up purchasing that package after being given a discount. IMHO it was well worth the cost and making my wife that happy was priceless.

  11. Claudia and Sunshine101. There are 2 LaQuinta's in Coco Beach. Go for the one on the beach. We stayed there last January. We were on one of the top floors. Nice clean room with full Ocean view. Great for watching the sun come up. Easy beach access and to Cocoa Beach pier. All the Hotel staff was excellent. Great free breakfast too. Several nice restaurants in walking distance. We ate at a Boston Seafood place a short walk from the hotel it had excellent food. I received a much better rate calling the Hotel direct rather than their online rate. We stayed there based on postings on this thread and were very happy.
